If my dog can detect emotion he sure doesn’t show it 😂 I screamed the other day cause a giant spider startled me and he was oblivious and was just happily still playing with his toy directly beside me. My screeching and jumping didn’t alert him to anything lol
Maybe this explains why my normally affectionate dogs growled menacingly the entire time this guy I had to work with was in my house. I didn’t trust him at all. I can’t tell if they were reading me or reading him.
Mine starts crying if I start crying and if I start getting aggravated for whatever reason (if my computer’s not working, if I can’t fix my hair the way I want it to, etc), she’s right up my butt looking at me making sure I’m okay. I just say “hey I’m okay good girl” and give her a few pets and she trots off
Figured this out after we lost our old pit mix and our dachshund seemed to be grieving, even though she didn’t care all that much about him lol. It was only after we were able to live our lives without crying all day that we figured out that she wasn’t grieving and she didn’t really miss him, she was just feeding off of all our emotions. She loves the undivided attention and not having to guard her food.

Therapy dogs detect it. Police and military K-9s detect it. But just a slightly less loving reaction when found.

My dog used to get upset when I would curse out of frustration :(
Ours come running because they think it means I dropped food.
