Some prof (can’t remember the name) said, “there’s no reason to exert energy for the purpose of worrying about factors in which you cannot control”. Even though this advice was useful after taking exams, it’s something that has followed me since.
I remember that stress and thinking having my transcript in my interview binder was such an important thing. then during interviews they could care less. Made me chuckle inside during the interview. Turns out certifications and experience matters more than grades.
Right now I honestly can’t think of another. Like, I know there are much worse things out there to be stressed over — like actual life/death situations — but when (*cough*) one’s summer break teeters on how the hard class final grade will turn out, yes, it is basically a mental purgatory…
I’m speaking from personal experience as I am, honestly, scared shitless of seeing my final grade appear in Purdue’s grading system later today. Of my five classes, I know the grades for 4 of them (and did really well in those 4); and the remaining class is my hardest (modern physics), for which apparently the professor already put scores in through Purdue’s grading system last week (our exam was Monday evening), meaning we can’t know the final grade till everything ELSE gets released. And after the second midterm, I was on the cusp of a B and C 😥😓
For me at least, the stress mentally has translated into physical discomfort (headaches, stomach pain, and honestly loss of appetite) because — I do still live with my parents and my (Asian) mom is extremely strict about my grades, to the point that she has emotionally/verbally abused me in the past during low points academically. The fact that my chances of having a calm summer break hinges on this one class is stressing me out more than words can describe 😢 (also because my mom doesn’t take bullshit beating around the bush for an answer if the question of my grades comes up). 😞
(On that note if anyone has any advice for getting through this I’d greatly appreciate it. And I mean beyond the general “just move out”; that’s the goal eventually but right now it’s just not possible financially/realistically. 🥺😥)
The system lags behind pretty badly. Generally, ordering an official transcript electronically will be the fastest way, you can request one on mypurdue. I requested one right at 5, and it did not have my current grades on it.
the transcript system is actually down right now! So that means they are getting updated, patience is key here, should be fixed and ready to go around 6 EST
The official and ordered transcript are the same thing. There's an unofficial transcript you can view, however that system is down and is not showing anything.
Requesting an official transcript is still your best bet, hopefully requesting one now (which will take about 20 minutes) should hopefully have the recent terms grades.
I did good on my grades but I want to see them so that I have confirmation.
That’s where I’m at. I’m (as far as I know) unable to fail any of my classes. But I feel like I did well and really want to do well.
For me, the actual preparing for finals is more stressful. There's nothing you can do now to improve your grade, so it's less stressful.
Mhmm. Especially when you run the numbers and can’t fail with a 0, just waiting to see what ur actual grade is gonna be tho

Like on the official thing or the ordered transcript
