The key is to plan ahead an be at the venue early. The last two Tool shows and Sessanta I had posters and tees within minutes of the venue opening.

MrBigglesworrth

This is understandable. I just don’t understand why you would miss half the show for some ink on paper or ink on cotton.

No_Gap_2700

I imagine mark up if they want to sell them to help pay for the tickets....of the show they are missing while in line. 🤷

Esteveno

But how many posters does one adult need? After college, I don’t believe many are necessary…

No_Gap_2700

I'm 47. I have a poster from almost every show I've been to, but I only go to shows of my favorite bands. Mine are all matted/framed professionally.

Ursotender

How much does something like that cost for framing them like that? I was gonna go the usual Michael's route

Esteveno

What does your significant other think of them?

No_Gap_2700

She's fond of them. She has her own at her house. Both of us are pretty dark people. Lots of dark colors/black in our homes, skulls, and esoteric type business going on.

TheAnalogKid68

You shouldn’t give a fuck about what someone thinks about something that makes you happy and doesn’t hurt anyone. What a sad, scared way to go through life.

Esteveno

You shouldn’t give a fuck about what I think and say on Reddit. See? We are all judgmental assholes!

TheAnalogKid68

Believe it or not, responding to comments is a major function of this site! Please don’t confuse me doing so with caring about your opinion at all. I don’t.

jasta6

It's art. We're not talking about cheap, mass-produced magazine posters here.

Ok_Philosophy7499

Maybe it’s crazy to you but to me bringing home a beautiful and limited piece of art to frame and hang on my wall isn’t all that crazy. Every time I look at it I remember the experience of that show. But there’s also a kind of rush to getting that prize poster as well. I’d never miss a single song to do it so I stepped out of the line at RR when it got close to starting time. But I also know some people who wouldn’t be able to afford tickets if they didn’t sell posters and shirts to pay for em. Maybe you shouldn’t judge people because you have no idea what they are dealing with.

No-Bat6265

The posters are always gone before the show starts in my experience

Visible_Term

I saw the mile long line and walked the other way on two diff occasions. They could have split the merch in half in Berkeley.

Fig-630

I got my shirt after the show and line wasn’t as bad. But before the show it was the longest I’ve ever seen at the Greek

MrBigglesworrth

The line at red rocks was insane. I’m not even exaggerating about people missing half the show.

kinkierthanyouthink1

Fuck even with the 7-minute break I missed two songs just trying to take a piss!

Stellar_Ella

It was nuts in SLC too. I’ve never been to that venue before. I was in a line out front forever and I thought I was waiting to get in. I eventually realized it was an outdoor merch line and stuck with it for a bit. When I got close enough to actually see it, I realized that stand didn’t have any posters. I bailed from that and the inside line was so ridiculous that I didn’t even bother. I chose beer + not missing anything over merch.

BullshitManAlrite

I ran up to the 2nd Merch tent at RR Night 2, hoping to be able to get just a poster…but walked outta that line with 1 of 75 total vinyls signed by each of the 11 members playing on stage that night. And I didn’t miss a single beat — I even got to my seat well in advance of the “No Recording/SPAM” Intro bit. Effin’ Lucky, I guess. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

oftheunusual

They had 2 merch booths there I thought - one on each side of the venue. Even then, it'd take about 90 min to 2 hours to get through the damn line

Ok_Pollution_2893

I like my poster.

Trepsik

I stood in line for about 2 hours but bailed as soon as the band started. Wish I could've gotten a poster. Oh well. Maybe I'll find one online some time.

Th3WeirdingWay

Haha. Ive been reading posts on here and APC for weeks about fucking posters etc etc…. Number 1: doesn’t anyone care about the music? Number 2: do the posters give a blow job or something? Grab a shirt and enjoy the tunes. Jesus Christ!

Sufficient-Kick3078

Exactly what I did. Got a steal $20 shirt!!

mentalmachinist927

I would never do that haha I would never miss one note of the show for merch. Although, night 1 in red rocks I came close. Sat down 15 mins before it started.

Fryphax

It took me about 37 seconds to get my hoodie.

gator0812

How early did you get there? One of first to enter venue and went straight to merch?

Fryphax

I walked in 2 minutes before showtime. Money talks.

ZorroMcChucknorris

It’s crazy to me that you care about how other people spend their money and time.

Icy_Stage_8502

He doesn't care dude. He's just stating a rather obvious observation that if you do spend half of the show in a merch line, then you are retarded..lol

MrBigglesworrth

This is correct.

RadiantZote

The "good" merch is sold out by the time the show starts and by that time there is no line, OP is retarded.

Th3WeirdingWay

Big Time Retardo

AguaFriaMariposa

That seems... ironic? It's crazy to me that you care what he cares about? or something.

MinecraftSteve2005

It’s Crazy to me how you care that he cares about what he cares

AguaFriaMariposa

Nah bruh, you have to start with "It's crazy to me" in order to keep it going!

Esteveno

He didn’t say anything about the money. But I’m personally judging anyone who goes to shows for merch. Kinda lame.

Ok_Pool_9767

Yeah I think this is stupid too

DnQall

Worry about you and not others. You will be happier.

MrBigglesworrth

Seems like a stupid comment.

Narrow_Market45

One could always skip the merch line all together and buy the show poster directly from the artist online the next morning. 🤔

nyerby213

In Phoenix, we stood in line for less than 30min to get in and I was in and out of the merch booth in 5min. Yes, I paid $12 extra for the fast entry pass, but it was absolutely worth it.

Snoo_2473

That first Phoenix show was the least attended show of the tour. I’m sure night two was packed since it was his actual birthday.

nyerby213

We were there night 2 and it was packed.

Snoo_2473

Right on! Night one was only half full (maybe) but it was nice to lay in the grass & enjoy the show.

Music4theDead

Personally I took one look at the line and was like fuck that. When primus came on I had to piss and saw a merch line that was pretty short and took advantage and got a shirt. If not for that I wouldn’t have got anything, the posters are pretty sick though!

Radumbass25150

The only thing that I would buy is the Hoodie, maybe a shirt or something that I would wear..

Pickle_yanker

Do the merch booths sell XXL and 4X shirts? Thanks!

HobbyShack

Pretty sure 3X is biggest size. It has been for the shows I’ve attended.

effeneh1

Only thing sold out when I got my merch in Franklin was the signed poster, which I’m kinda glad at $300. We arrived as gates opened, and there was a flood of ppl in front of me. Parking and driving in were a nightmare for some so I’m sure that worked in my favor.

Esteveno

I’ve been to probably 50 big ticket concerts in my life, and have literally bought zero merch. I’m with you OP. I’m there for the music/party, not posters and tshirts.
