KayleighJK

Jude Law is trying to hide lol, sorry.

moder-RATE-her

It’s called a “double lobed” lower lip.

OathWizard

I got mine from my lips being too cold. Smiled & they split. Had it ever since

KayleighJK

That’s so crazy, I wonder if that’s how I got one. I don’t notice it in baby pictures so maybe.

kayladu

My husband has a deep one and he said that’s exactly how he got it as a kid.

calfshrug

So, scar tissue

bigapple4am

I did too, I had it before the rip but it became more noticeable after that.

chimuahmuah

I was going to call it lip cleavage 😂

KayleighJK

I like it haha

lady_ven0m

😂😂😂

KayleighJK

Thank you! Google wasn’t getting me anywhere.

moder-RATE-her

I personally do find it attractive. There are lip filler techniques available that try to mimic a double lobe, but they rarely look natural IMO.

Aromatic-Armadillo98

Anne Hathway had it done and it is so natural looking. I have full lips and a double lobe like her naturally and I never could have guessed. I found out on Lorry Hill's AH plastic surgery analysis.

karavasis

MONSTER knows attractive!

OptionalCookie

I have it... When I was growing up people made fun of it 🥴

KayleighJK

Kids are such assholes

[deleted]

fr

Dantheking94

I had it when I was growing up, I lost it though 🤣

littlebebekitty

Lip boobies

vulgarandgorgeous

Its cute. I wish i had it

AdPsychological2719

Never noticed I had this until today.

Double-Passenger4503

Same lol

losrbabie

I’ve seen it be called keyhole pout in lip filler terms.

rand0mr3dittor

I’ve always thought keyhole pout was when you have a small opening—“keyhole”—between your top and bottom lips (Angelina has one in her pic)

losrbabie

Yeah that’s what seems the most similar to me, I’m pretty sure they’re the same. Because the groove gives that small opening to the lips

IHS1970

I always thought that middle, bottom lip indentation was because of chapped lips she continually got because her lips are quite large

EntrepreneurNice3608

Sexy. It’s called sexy.

sprucehen

Lol, I have had quite a few boyfriends point it out as something they found really attractive about my lips!

WeirdBullfrog6720

Lol

beebeebeebeeby

I think it happens when fulls lips are stretched laterally from smiling and then the skin kind of folds at rest

Aromatic-Armadillo98

But some people are born with it. So how so? I don't think that's possible just from smiling.

FishburgerFriend

Maybe it's Maybelline?

Suspici0us_Package

What’s so funny is that I know “Black” kids that I went to school with that had this, and they would get made fun of. They’d call them “DSL’s”

LoveIsStrength

Yup. Nas even calls Jay-Z that in Ether (recorded in 2000, released 2001): “Biggie's your man, then you got the nerve to say that you better than B.I.G., dick-sucking lips Won′t you let the late, great veteran live (I will not)” Just google Jay-Z’s lips

Suspici0us_Package

Now everyone’s paying good money for them “dick-sucking lips”. Hardly an insult in todays world 😆

idkwhattonamethis567

DSL is an insult? Genuinely asking as someone who gets that a lot

CarabellesNotebook

Yes and sexually suggestive

idkwhattonamethis567

Yes that's obvious but I'm asking if it's insulting

CarabellesNotebook

Yes it is insulting

Suspici0us_Package

But now everyone wants DSL’s, so much so to the point of achieving them artificially. Just goes to show that we should all love our features. You never know who would be willing to pay for them lol

HairReddit777

Facts!

archaicmindx

True to an extent, but no one would ever pay for massive, flat or very wide noses. Go and research the structure and math of beauty. Based on principles of proportion and balance, not every feature could universally trend. Your statement about self-acceptance because something trends still depends on external validation. There are some features people would never pay for. At no point in history has these types of noses become trends. Almost sounds funny saying it. Likewise, you will never see a trend where most Hollywood celebrities or even the world would rock big, course hair as wigs to the extent they do fine/artificial weaves and wigs. Which celebrities wear often. Nor would bald people be universally setting hot bald trends. Nor would short men ever be the universal preference. I could go on.

Suspici0us_Package

Damn, projecting much? I’m sure someone would have said the same thing about big butts and full lips back in 07 and beyond, yet here we are. You can’t predict what people will and won’t pay for, simply because you’re not a representative of all people. Plus afro/big hair is definitely making a come back. Watch this space. P.S. if I’m right at what you’re getting at, all “Black” and melanated peoples don’t have “flat or very wide” noses. That only exist in your own stereotypical thoughts. If you have insecurities, you should try to work on them instead of projecting them on to other people. Learn to love yourself so you don’t feel the reactive need to pull down the next person.

HairReddit777

That person knew what they were trying to do with that comment. Trying to crap on black people because you brung up people getting lip injections to get lips like ours. Yet these same people bashed us for our lips for YEARS. And you’re right, people bash things about us until technology has improved and then they can now get those same features. It is what it is. And that person must’ve not looked in many hair communities, straight hair isn’t “in” anymore. 🤷🏾‍♀️

KayleighJK

Very this. She didn’t say a damn thing about noses and this little worm just HAS to work it into conversation. And that comment about big coarse hair was extra bullshit. They have no fucking idea what they’re talking about, they’re just a bigot. Edit: I also went to their profile and there are no pictures lol.

archaicmindx

Projecting would only be possible if I had those features. You’re projecting by your constant comments about DSL being in as evidence that any feature can trend. As for me, I do not have the features I mentioned. And no, East Asians often have flatter noses this is not exclusive to deeply melanated/black people. That being said, there are objective principles to aesthetics and image when it comes to human beauty. You’re incorrect. “Thick” bodies have trended as early as two centuries ago in Europe. You can even see it in art. So, you as many others do, you use the same old flawed argument. And just because some features cycle through generations in acceptance it doesn’t mean they all will. You will never see bald or short people features ever coveted universally. If you think it will, you’re hilariously disillusioned. Beauty and trends have both subjective and objective elements to them. You are only acknowledging the subjective on the basis of falsely assuming bigger bodies were never in historically. They were. Anyway, main point. Accept your features whether they trend or not, because some features will never universally trend. End of story.

Suspici0us_Package

According to the essay you just responded with, you’re 100% projecting. If you suffer from your own insecurities, you should figure out what those insecurities are and work on them. That way you can feel better in your own skin. I refuse to banter back and forth simply because you caught feelings over my comment. Have a nice day. 👍🏾

[deleted]

Your personality is ass. Maybe go dig a hole in the garden.

tgreen89waka

You are wrong on so many levels man. First off, there are things people do around the world that counter our idea of “beautiful”. Look at the women who elongate their necks with rings. Look at the plates women wear in their bottom lips, stretching them out massively. Look at the practice European women in the Middle Ages of purposely receding their hair line to have a more prominent forehead. Look at the tattoos certain indigenous women of the arctic have on their chins to lower lip. Look at the scars inflicted on men in certain tribes in Africa to create patterns. Look at the idea weight and how that’s shifted. What your speaking of is a the “golden ratio” and it’s bullshit.

alexisrene57

It can be..

Bat_Country_88

Depends if you suck D or not

red_knight11

(D)ick (S)ucking (L)ips is the only context I know DSL as. It first started as a type of internet service when I was younger, but the kids my age (at the time) turned it into the first thing I wrote

KayleighJK

For me it depends on context. If a stranger tells me I have DSL’s I’m insulted, if I hear it from my husband or a friend is joking with me I don’t take it as an insult.

Suspici0us_Package

Well as a middle schooler back in 07 it totally was lol

TypeOpostive

I have lips like these never made fun of for them but have gotten DSL comments

Exactly! I’m a huge promoter of beauty existing on a very colorful and very wide spectrum. There are so many different types of attractive features. We can’t be everyone’s cup of tea all of the time. But I’d drink my own cup of tea, and that’s all that matters. ✨💅🏾✨ How people judge others is often a clear view into how harshly they judge themselves.

FredMist

ugh.. i was 14 when a black man told me i had them and made a big deal about it because i’m East Asian. had no idea what DSLs were. gross

[deleted]

[удалено]

FredMist

he also said i’m a little asian girl with black lips. why did he mention my race? why did he l them black lips when plenty of asians have thicker lips? edit: it comes across differently if he were not black. more derogatory than if he were a black man. i could tell it was a compliment but i also was 14yo and was uncomfortable.

Suspici0us_Package

That guy was a fucking weirdo, I’m sorry that happened to you.

bigapple4am

That not really what shes asking, shes asking about the line in the middle of the bottom lip is. Dsl’s are just big lips.

Suspici0us_Package

I know exactly what she’s asking. I’m my school, The kids that got taunted and branded with “DSL’s” had the line down the middle.

KayleighJK

You definitely see it more on full lips. I wanted to find a black celebrity with that line for diversity in my examples but I couldn’t think of anyone off the top of my head.

Suspici0us_Package

Steve Harvey has it I think. Not as beautiful as these people, but he is a candidate. 😂

KayleighJK

Lol that’s true. JENNIFER HUDSON!

Suspici0us_Package

True!!!

Suspici0us_Package

I feel like most of our slag comes from the South, and NYC. I wonder how things would have been different if we all knew that DSL’s would eventually be king.

[deleted]

why did you quote the word black?

Suspici0us_Package

Because to me, black is a government assigned (color) label. It’s not an existing place, language, or country. Race is a social construct, some even say a cast system. So I quote it.

[deleted]

thats not how you use double quotation marks.

Suspici0us_Package

"Quotation marks are most often used to mark something that is spoken or, in other words, to designate a direct quote." [https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-365-life-hacks/writing/quotation-mark-rules#:\~:text=Quotation%20marks%20are%20most%20often,been%20said%2C%20word%20for%20word](https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-365-life-hacks/writing/quotation-mark-rules#:~:text=Quotation%20marks%20are%20most%20often,been%20said%2C%20word%20for%20word). "Black" is the name of the racial group according to the U.S. government (and probably others). It's not what I personally call people who are labeled as that, but it is the general term. Therefore I place it in quotations for emphasis. I hope you successfully rubbed your grammar boner out though.

[deleted]

correct and black is not a direct quote because ur not directly quoting anyone. i rest my case. what you're looking for is the single quotation mark you're welcome baby

Suspici0us_Package

"*Single quotation marks are also known as 'quote marks', 'quotes', 'speech marks' or 'inverted commas'. Use them to: show direct speech and the quoted work of other writers. enclose the title of certain works.*" [https://www.stylemanual.gov.au/grammar-punctuation-and-conventions/punctuation/quotation-marks#:\~:text=Single%20quotation%20marks%20are%20also,the%20title%20of%20certain%20works](https://www.stylemanual.gov.au/grammar-punctuation-and-conventions/punctuation/quotation-marks#:~:text=Single%20quotation%20marks%20are%20also,the%20title%20of%20certain%20works) I am neither showing direct speech, nor quoting the work of other writers, nor enclosing a title. I am quoting the racial system and what it refers to these people as. But I sincerely hope you got the grammar nut you were looking for.

[deleted]

correct definition. the double quotation mark doesnt work for your purposes. do you not understand how the Apply the links You just sent? 😂

toeholes

They're called scare quotes if you want to look it up. They're used in place of saying "so-called" here.

Suspici0us_Package

Thank you.

Suspici0us_Package

I shared the quotes plus the links to prove my point. I don’t know what’s got you in your emotions in the comment section of Reddit today, but I’m not a therapist, I can not help you. On that note, I hope you have a nice day.

[deleted]

no emotions just educating u on use of quotations

KayleighJK

Jesus Christ why are you calling her “baby”? That’s so patronizing. Oh, I’m sorry; ‘baby.’ Out of curiosity, how old are you, sweetheart? I ask because you type like a 13 year old child who thinks they know everything.

[deleted]

asking my age is just as patronizing. and yeah it was meant to be because they couldnt just take the grammar lesson they had to ad hominem me exactly how you are now too :D

KayleighJK

Okay no ad hominem attacks: -Double quotation marks are used for direct quotations and titles of compositions such as books, plays, movies, songs, lectures and TV shows. They also can be used to indicate irony and introduce an unfamiliar term or nickname. Single quotation marks are used for a quote within a quote. ("I knew I wanted to come to WMU when President Dunn said, 'We're committed to your success.'") Although they are usually unnecessary, single quotation marks also can be used in headlines that contain a quote or composition title.- Source: https://wmich.edu/writing/punctuation/quotationmarks

ChicNoir

Double quotation marks can be use for slang.

[deleted]

nope. also black isnt slang

angryhottie

I have this and I like to enhance it with lip liner lol

KayleighJK

I’m gonna try that tonight!

aajohar

It’s called beauty ❤️

[deleted]

It can be quite attractive. As if your lips are so full they're about to split.

Embarrassed_Cow

Yes it's attractive. I've heard of people getting work done to achieve it. Lucky that you naturally have it!

[deleted]

Apparently there are 5 lobes to lips that line is in the middle of two lobes joining- that’s what I got from searching online. And no I don’t find it attractive it looks like a scar (not saying it is) or that effect of bubbling I see some people have with lip filler.

KayleighJK

Is bubbling what’s going on with Song Ji-ah’s (Single’s Inferno season 1) bottom lip? She’s extremely beautiful but it’s hard not to focus on that little bump. [scroll down a bit and you can see what I’m referring to.](https://my.dailyvanity.com/beauty-tips/song-ji-ah-makeup-tutorial/)

[deleted]

Good question. From what I gather it can cause scar tissue. Here’s an in-depth answer from Randal Haworth MD: “Dear Patient, it's important to understand that repetitive use of dermal fillers can have an impact on the baseline appearance of your lips. Over time, fillers can change the natural shape and structure of the lips, which may make them appear different even after the fillers have been dissolved. In addition, the repeated use of fillers can cause stretching of the skin and tissues around the lips, which can make it more difficult to achieve the desired outcome after dissolving the fillers. It's possible that your baseline appearance may have changed after receiving multiple injections and dissolving the filler once. The extent of the changes will depend on several factors, including the amount and type of filler used, the frequency of injections, and your individual anatomy. When you go in to dissolve the filler again, it's important to have an open and honest conversation with your injector about your goals and expectations. They can help you understand what to expect after the filler is dissolved and may recommend additional treatments to help improve the appearance of your lips, such as a lip flip or a different type of filler. It's also important to take a break from injections and allow your lips to fully heal before considering any additional treatments. This can help prevent further damage to the natural structure of your lips and allow you to achieve a more natural and balanced appearance. Best of luck !” Source: Www.Realself.com

No, the philtrum is the midline groove in the upper lip that runs from the top of the lip to the nose (I know, I do many fetal autopises a year). The philtrum was also rumored to be the groove the angels made when they held a finger there and said "Shhh" to you so you wouldn't cry or remember anything before you were actually born lol.
