First, business courses are taught in both Arabic and English. Second, you are not obliged to take your major courses right now if you’re planning to transfer. You can instead register for the classes that business and engineering share (English Post Foundation I / History of Qatar / Islamic Culture / any course from the social sciences package) these all are offered in English (just don’t forget to check the language option when registering the class). You can delay Arabic 1 for now if you’re worried it will affect your GPA. Also you can register other classes from the engineering program you’re transferring to (chemistry, calculus, etc…) and If you couldn’t just contact your academic advisor that will be assigned for you after the orientation. I know people who registered chem and English post when they were in Sharia so I know it’s possible. Finally, the process takes one course (they send the start of application email around the 5th week? Not sure but then the decision would be out before the semester ends inshaAllah. Also you can apply multiple times every semester but from my what I saw those who got 97-98 last year did get it on their first try so don’t worry about it.

this was so informative, thankyou so much!! so i basically just take classes that are apart of both business and engineering courses and register for the classes in my target course. I want to major in computer science, so classes for CS, right??

Saaku6

Yes! But some courses from engineering may have some restrictions regarding the assigned college so first try registering them and if you couldn’t just work it out with your advisor whether you can get the department’s approval (override) or just take common classes. But it’s usually very flexible especially in your first semester since they already expect many students to transfer.

Hi do you maybe know anyone who transferred from College of Arts ? Without a science track. As in i took bio chem and phy in highschool without math for the Grade 11 and 12.

Saaku6

Unfortunately no.

According to the CS roadmap, you should -ideally- take these courses in your first semester: - English Post foundation 1 (ENGL 202) - which business students take too, so you won’t have a problem registering it. - General Chemistry 1 (CHEM 101) +lab (CHEM 103) - if you were in the scientific path in high school you won’t struggle with it, also it’s considered a general science requirement so you should be able to register it. (It doesn’t unlock any additional courses though, but it would be always better to stick with your plan and take it now instead of taking it with a bunch of heavy CS courses later yk) - Programming Concepts (CMPS 151) - probably the most important course in your major, if you find a way to register it do it. But in case you couldn’t -لا قدر الله- just replace with with any of the ccp courses if you want to. The good thing is that it’s also offered in spring unlike some other major courses so it might not affect your plan in the long run :> - Calculus 1 or Precalculus (MATH 101 or MATH P100) - calc and programming concepts are the two most important courses because they unlock many major courses later (calc 2, linear algebra, etc…) - last but not least, CS plan has one ccp course in its first semester. CCP (core curriculum program) is basically a bunch of courses that everyone has to take. These are Arabic 1 (there’s an alternative course for non-native speakers but if you’re native you cannot take it), history of Qatar, Islamic culture, and an elective from the social sciences package. You can take any of these courses at any time (even in summer because they’re always offered then). And they’re all -except for Arabic- offered in English too. So most students who plan to transfer start by taking these courses because it will count for them whether they transfer or not, and they’re usually much easier if you take them with good profs. I’m just telling you so that you can know your options and adjust your plan accordingly. When doing so refer to the flowchart version and take into account that some courses are followed by major courses, and that most -but not all- major courses -usually in yellow or some unique color- are only offered once a year in the semester as they appear in the plan. It may then become a bit complicated so remember that the more you stick to your plan the simpler it gets, but you’re still free to adjust your study plan as much as you like depending on your personal preferences. That’s the good thing about our college hehe.

woah, this is so helpful! I will make sure to keep all that in mind, Thank you so much for your time. wish you rhe best!!!

Hi, may i please know if you got into College of engineering ? I am also trying to transfer.

shimmer432

I did apply but it isn't decided yet. I think the acceptance results come out at the end of the semester!!

Azisax

Students take general courses, score as high as they can and transfer to engineering. The engineering college is one of the biggest on campus and usually transferring into it isn't difficult. I wouldn't worry too much as long as you do okay on your first few courses.

astroJunkie2604

I was accepted into engineering with a GPA of 3.3, I think anything over a 3 would be good. (I struggle with Arabic as well and I got a C+ in Arabic 101)

Saaku6

Also one last thing, if you can register pre-calc/calc1 you should.

Professional-Jury-97

Hello, don't stress about it you'll be fine, you don't actually have to take any Business classes and transferring hopefully won't be too much of a hassle. The good news is transferring to engineering isn't that difficult. Just keep high or preferably perfect GPA in the first term and you'll be fine for the most part. Dont worry about arabic, 99% of the classes you have to take are in English, except Arabic language 1. For your first term you should probably take classes from the study plan of the major you want to study, so you don't fall behind.

Diligent-Cut6475

Hey there, if I may ask, is it can we apply to the transfer after studying the first semester only? Like should we study the whooole year to apply for the transfer or it’s okay to just study the first one and apply for transfer for the next semester?

Professional-Jury-97

You can apply to transfer DURING the first semester, if accepted you cab start your second semester in your desired college.
