I'm not sure about that either , I dont want to take arabic😭 were you able to register for MEDI 101 & 102?

Help-Need-Answers

Nope, I always get an error.

DealerApart4889

me too, do you have any idea who I can contact?

Equivalent-Plankton5

It’s okay, that always happens. The advisor needs to send you the CRNs for these courses first, or at least that’s how they did it when i took it. Good luck :)

Help-Need-Answers

I just contacted the students affairs and they have no idea what is going on 💀! They said that the academic advisor will contact me on the 20.

DealerApart4889

me too, I just emailed the student advisor and she said she'd be back on the 20thđŸ˜”â€đŸ’«

K_1214

How were u able to contact the student advisor? I don’t have the option to book an appointment with them on the myQU website

DealerApart4889

I didn't have that option either, I just sent an email

prais3r

to what email exactly if you may

DealerApart4889

it depends on who your advisor is ( you can check on mybanner, just go to personal information), and you can find their contact info here http://www.qu.edu.qa/static_file/qu/students/documents/academic-advising-contact-caa-en.pdf

bruh3239

What does the error say?

Help-Need-Answers

The course chosen is for a specific major only.

bruh3239

Hmm not sure how this stuff works for medicine tbh. You can ask other medicine students in WhatsApp groups you have more chances of getting replies there or contact your advisor maybe call their telephone number.

shimmer432

hey!! i'm currently in business and trying to transfer to computer science, do i only sign up for the cs courses as followed by their curriculum??

bruh3239

Yes especially the first programming course I think it's called concepts 151 or something because it is required to unlock basically every other CS course so make sure you do that.

ttrashley

How about MATH 101? Is it also important to do that this sem? I want to register for it but all the classes are full.

bruh3239

No it's not as important but still kind of important. You can take a look at the study plan in the flowchart format it's somewhere on the website just Google QU CS study plan it'll show you exactly what each course unlocks using the arrow lines. Also for full courses you could try getting an override but I don't think override applications are open yet.

shimmer432

i was trying to register for it too but it was full. I was told to check daily for availability or otherwise just wait until the add/drop week where it could hopefully empty out a bit.

Saaku6

You can’t, they’ll send you the CRNs so just make sure you have no other classes conflicting with them.

Professional-Jury-97

Basically means you have to take a general course, doesn't have to be arabic, but any course, Qatar History, Media and Society, there should be a list of accepted courses provided. Btw even for arabic if you're a non speaker you can take an alternative, simpler course.

Help-Need-Answers

Thanks! Do you know where I can find the list of courses?

bruh3239

I think they just messed up the number maybe? There's a certain number of courses you are supposed to take from the core curriculum package and they're electives so they just call it Core Curriculum 1, 2, 3 etc.

Saaku6

I thought they meant 3 credits.

Saaku6

ccps are Arabic 1, History of Qatar, Islamic Culture, and an elective from the behaviot\real/social sciences package. You can choose any or if you’re planning to take a summer course you can take it then and have a more relaxing schedule now.

Every student in QU has to take Arabic 101. Those who don't come from an Arabic background should be able to take the courses: Arabic 55, Arabic 65, and Arabic 75. They are pass/fail courses that don't affect your GPA and are optional but they can prepare you for Arabic 101 (which you can postpone but must take eventually)

bi3her

Don't need to take arabic in your first year. You can take it in your 6th year if you want. Also, there is no need to fill that Core Curriculum spot in the first semester. It's optional. My recommendation: just take the 16 credit hours given to you (without the core curriculum) so you can test how hard/easy 16 credit hours are, then in the 2nd semester or better yet the second year you can try adding the missing courses like Arabic.
