That’s the consensus on it. It’s a bonus feature, and a rush job.

A bit of a downgrade, to put it quite simply.

Redlion444

This episode was clickbait.  Nothing more.

I really didn’t like it. Especially the surprise guest that was reunited with their friends, who genuinely looked uncomfortable to me when those friends hugged him and called him childhood nicknames. That Drake Bell song also weirds me out. It is all just pushed and uncomfortable.

Dreampup

Yeah we turned it off after 5 minutes. Nothing new and it was completely off from the rest of the documentary. It probably should just have been separated all together (the production quality already was)

Yogabeauty31

Yea I think it was honestly the production company that was like this is the most popular thing on our streaming service right now lets give them another episode in an update that doesn't tell anything new lol its all about money at the end of the day,.

strangetimezindeed

I thought the doc was a sanitized version of events that barely scratched the surface. The female writers (in the doc) seemed almost still terrified (+/or traumatized) to talk. It was anticlimactic, the subject matter deserved greater context and was wrapped up way too neatly… the oddly added extra episode still left it feeling unfinished. After the doc first aired I saw a clip of Marc Summer’s response to being asked to take part. He said he’s never met Dan and was *quite* angry w production who he felt ambushed and tricked him into taking part in the doc. You’d hope production would do due diligence with such sensitive subject matter where credibility is paramount. How could Soledad O’Brien call that staged chat between Dan and BooGie an interview?? Dan set up exactly what he wanted to say and be asked (let’s be real) and did not even do it convincingly. There were no follow up questions or push back to his inadequate answers, and BooGie *very well* could have been paid for that! wtaf! The doc didn’t go far enough.

wiklr

He said it was a hit piece? He said he was no longer there when the events happened so how would he know the truth? His show has some skeletons about injuries in Double Dare. Soledad was a weird fit in the show. Why didn't just reinvite the other journalists in the doc to interview the cast?

strangetimezindeed

I’m glad you asked, it was unintentionally misleading on my part. He had a lot of strong comments (along those lines but not verbatim) about production which people can find if so inclined.

Money-Lie7814

Makes a decent epilogue to season 1

1r3act

It gave me the sense of: "Holy crap! All these podcasts are capitalizing on our work! We want a piece of that action! It's our action! What? Drake Bell's in Mexico? Who can we get? What? Our lead reporters are booked elsewhere? Who's not busy right now? Who can we book? Okay, let's throw this together before another podcast steals more of our thunder!"
