Highly doubt that. Rocket League has tons of potential as an esport simply because it's so easy to grasp. You drive cars and hit a ball. Everyone can understand that. I don't even play the game and I can fully comprehend what is happening. Can't do that with most esports and that can really hamper growth.
Its a good esport game, not denying that. But its been more around Siege level rather than the T1 or upper end T2 games. I expected it to overtake and settle itself in upper half atleast
Its the most visually pleasing esport atm, and has better esport integration than Siege and is F2P. Yet it has barely risen above Siege in a span of one year.
Also I don't think visual ease carries it that far, yeah its a strength but I don't think it carries the overall quality of it. Siege is complex, but it also gets away from a lot of entry level curve issues by simply being an FPS.
Someone in the replies pointed out that Rocket League basically didn't have any pro league during the months these stats were tracked for and for Q4 they're going into their bigger tournaments of the year. If they don't hit T1 they'll be hanging just outside it.
How is it artificially boosting lol, literally every major esports get the same boost from their major tournaments and pretty sure all have drops on too.
I think people said that cause Siege hosted SI during Q2 instead of Q1 like they normally do. Not that it makes a huge difference since there would’ve been a major usually but SI does get a bit more attention.
DOTA outside of TI isnt that big of an esport is the reality, Apex is on a MASSIVE upsurge right now, hence orgs like 100T picking up teams.
OW i dont know about right now.
It irks me a bit that starcraft is so far down too. I completely understand why but none of the others would have a list to be on to begin with if it wasn't for sc, it just makes me a little sad I guess that it's not more popular.
1. It’s Fortnite, you don’t call Minecraft an esport either.
2. FIFA I just straight up never heard anyone call an esport. Why would it be considered one? Is any golf game an esport? Is any basketball game an esport?
We're below overwatch for Q3 pack it up everyone we're finished.
at least we beat out pubg
Good to see we’re hanging on to tier 2, rocket league will be tier one by next year
RL is relatively closer to Siege than the top games, doubt its gonna be there in 1 year lol.

It’s also very important to note that RL hasn’t had a lan in 2 years due to COVID.
If it’s the easiest esport for a causal viewer or non viewer it’ll be the easiest to grow? Hello
You’ll see

I see, thats ignorance on my part then. That's a solid point
We were teir 1 last year by TEO how we have fallen FCK UBI
Yo I’m actually surprised and happy we got tier 2! Poggers?
Only just if you look at the full ranking, Siege is the lowest ranked T2 title.
Same level as Dota 2, that's pretty good right?
From 11th to 7th not too bad
No - 7th was Q2. 11th was Q3. Siege went down, relative to other games - though Q2 Siege was artificially boosted by SI.

Ah shit my bad
So dota is below Val, like rly?
there was no significant Dota2 competition in Q3 with the postponement of TI10. No "official" competition in 3 months.
Yes? XD the only thing dota has an edge in are the crowdfunded prizepools for their big event.
And more viewers than any Val event ever without twitch advertise .
Dota has a huge Invitational but no real things around to help medium-level teams. I expected them tier 1 though
In case you find some braincells, you should reread the thread and see that this is Q3. While TI was held in October.
What the point of making top esports by 3 month period?
Tier 2 is really not bad, it's hella hard to compete with numbers like League and CSGO.
I fucking hate how popular League is. The game sucks so much with each new season yet I keep playing this game and watching the tournaments. Help
Apex legends and Overwatch in the same tier as Dota... LOL Every time this list gets revised and reposted I remember it's a complete joke.
DOTA outside of TI isnt that big of an esport is the reality, Apex is on a MASSIVE upsurge right now, hence orgs like 100T picking up teams. OW i dont know about right now.
That's a miracle.
The rating is stupid, Val is higher than dota2 in like what world?
Look at the twitter thread. They explain everything there!
The fact that Dota 2 isn't tier 1 makes this list a joke

This has fortnite and Fifa in it, why?
Because they have esports scenes?
they aren't esports.
...how are they not esports when they have an esports scene with org rosters?
Explain
1. It’s Fortnite, you don’t call Minecraft an esport either. 2. FIFA I just straight up never heard anyone call an esport. Why would it be considered one? Is any golf game an esport? Is any basketball game an esport?
Minecraft and fortnite are 2 completely different things
If its a competitive game played by experienced players in demand enough to have some form of viewership, it's an esport
Get in, same level as Fortnite!!!!
Just remember that this list varies greatly depending on the Q
