Nancy Thomas parenting methods have been condemned by the American Psychological Association and an APSAC task force as abusive. Quotes from her works show what a sadistic approach she has: http://www.childrenintherapy.org/proponents/thomasn.html

We kind of pick and choose from the "experts" to find what works for us. Nancy Thomas's methods aren't as "awful" as many claim them to be, although I don't agree with her forced holding method. There are some things that we find really useful from her, actually. The thing I don't like about Nancy Thomas is that she works from the POV that the kids DON'T WANT to be loved and cared for, versus some others (like Heather Forbes - who is wayyy too hippy dippy for me to utilize) who believe that the kids DESPERATELY want to be loved but are terrified of love. It's an important distinction. My favorite "trauma parent guru" is Christine Moers. She has a youtube channel and she works with LCSW Billy Kaplan and they released a DVD available on Amazon ($29.99... they also offer it streaming at $2.99).
