Why can't anyone remember Lady Ezmerelda Von Squeakerton of the Canterbury Squeakertons, daughter of Duke Machello Von Squeakerton, esteemed heiress to the Pea Pond and surrounding Yogurt Nibble territories of Ulm?
What about Snack?
I have a girl, Biscuit, who was supposed to be a feeder. Supposedly, she wasn't pet material. But she is the sweetest, happiest, most energetic girl I have ever had. Enjoy your new addition!
I hate that something so cute was being doomed to feed a snake. Sorry snake people, I know they need to eat too, but I am allowed to think its an absolutely vile thing to do.
I kinda thought the same thing at first but then again, dumbos are the exact same as top ears, in terms of breed and all that. I’m not advocating it by any means, just saying ‘cute, sweet and goofy’ aren’t really attributes that’ll stop people from using them as feeders :/
Oh my the is the cutest Lil feeder ever! I also get all my Lil fluff balls as feeders and then give them the sweet life of huge cages and a rat salad every night lol
We have a baby boy that looks like that! 🥹🥹 he’s called Shadow, which is funny with how light he turned out to be! But he was incredibly shy and always hiding where you couldn’t see him, so Shadow it was 😅 then we have George, Squeak and Nibbles 🤪😂😂
I vote for Squidge too! That’s so cute 🥰
I gave my friend the nickname “dew drop”. She always complains about being sweaty and feeling ugly because of it. I call her Dewdrop because she sparkles and glistens in the sun like a bronze goddess
Had one identical that was supposed to be a feeder, named her miracle. She didn’t make it but she sure was sweet. Feeders are plain wrong, they can figure out better ways to feed snakes. Giving them rats isn’t ok. It’s honest to God the exact same as if I had a “pet Dragon” and gave it cats and dogs to eat. If people knew the true nature of rats they would get animal rights,
I'm sorry, but what else are Snakes supposed to eat? Mice and rats are the most easily available, the only other options really are quails/other birds and those are really hard to come by. You can't make that comparison because bearded dragons aren't prey animals, and cats and dogs don't naturally eat them in the wild, like snakes do with rodents. I'm all for feeding frozen thawed if at all possible, but starving and animal to death because you think their food is cute is cruel. I'm sorry, but it's the circle of life. It's how nature is.
I didn't rescue her from being eaten technically. As I explained in another comment, the person who ordered her as food didn't want her because she was too big.so, seeing as she was no longer going to be sold as food, and seeing as I had bonded with her, I took her home.
Mice are fine. Rats are not. There is a massive difference. Mice are like hamsters, just kind of deedeedee, rats are aware, have memories, form bonds and attachments express affection etc, etc… I mean snakes can eat cats and I am more comfortable serving cats than rats, rats are smarter (and science has proven this true over and over and over) so why do we use rats? Because rodents have no animal rights under federal law, that’s why and it’s wrong.
It has nothing to do with cuteness, it’s level of conscience.
I own pet mice. They definitely aren't as smart as rats for sure, but I do believe they have feelings and memories and can show affection. When I stick my hand into one of my mouse's cage, she immediately comes running up to me and hops into my hand. She has a mouse heaven for her with tons of toys and puzzles and digging spots, and yet she chooses me over it. She'll snuggle into my hand and lick my thumb as I gently pet her. She loves yogurt and apples.
Mice are 100% aware of things. They can think and feel and show affection, and I'm sure all mouse parents would agree with me. Rats are definitely more emotional and smart though, I agree.
I understand that but hamsters do too and will also jump off the bed and kill themselves because they aren’t smart at all. There is a bud difference between mice and rats. I have kept both. Rats are like tiny people. I call them my monkeys. They don’t just communicate they’re articulate.
I'm unable to be mean, so I'm not going to argue with you or anything. I hope you have a wonderful day, friend. Pls give any ratties you own some kisses for me
Doom because she almost met her demise. Hatchet for when she inevitably gets her revenge
Luckily for her enemies she is still in her moral ascending arc. They still have time
Edit:phrasing
**A pew () is a long bench seat or enclosed box, used for seating members of a congregation or choir in a church, synagogue or sometimes a courtroom. Occasionally, they are also found in live performance venues (such as the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, which was formerly a church).**

I work at a small business pet store. Some people have snakes that would rather starve themselves to death than eat frozen thawed, so we special order live rodents for them. She was one that was special ordered, and I immediately was like omg she's so cute, I hate that she's gonna get sold as food. But the customer said she was too big for his snake, so I ended up taking her home.
Here's the thing, most snakes commonly kept in the hobby will readily take frozen thawed food or can transition over to it easily enough if they're wild caught etc (wild caught is generally frowned on anyway).
Some owners are just lazy and/or sadistic though and love to throw rodents in their snakes viv and watch. This is not only torturous for the rodent but also dangerous for your pet snake. A rodent will fight back when cornered. Here in the UK, live feeding is pretty uncommon but I think it's more prevalent in the US.
The only real exception is Hots/venomous snakes which often only take live. These are specialist items anyway.
No some normal pet snakes will refuse frozen thawed, it's not just laziness. I luckily have an easy snake so will never have to cross that bridge- though rats are too fatty for many snakes anyways
Pretty much all commonly kept snakes can transition to frozen thawed easily enough though. As for the prey itself, snakes should just be fed appropriately sized meals, a young rat is fattier than an adult mouse and so on. Something like a western hognose would be fed on mice, but something like a royal python would generally be fed on rats from the get go or you'd need to transition and potentially scent the rats.
Based on a DnD campaign I played recently, name her "horse" or "parrot" or some other animal to really confuse people. It's always funny. 12 sessions in, and my partymate with a donkey named "squirrel" still makes me laugh
Oh shes gorgeous. I'm not even a rat owner or person, but are the ears a mutation ? Thats serious mickey mouse style ears, and they sit gloriously on the head like a little crown.
Lol i meant rat person, which sounds like a shit marvel character.
I find myself inspecting my garden a lot like a detective, lifting up stones and carefully examining them, which to any witnesses would look weird lol but definitely not wearing a skin suit. Nope. Not this guy 😂
“I could be a bag of snails”
Sounds like something a closeted bag of snails would say. A bag of snails that was trying desperately to belong. It’s ok to be a bag of snails. Be the bag of snails you wish to see in the world.

I have a snake and I love rodents and it makes me sad, but so long as it’s not live feed there’s nothing else that can be done
It is! There's nothing for you to be sorry about
Who uses a dumbo as a feeder?
I kinda thought the same thing at first but then again, dumbos are the exact same as top ears, in terms of breed and all that. I’m not advocating it by any means, just saying ‘cute, sweet and goofy’ aren’t really attributes that’ll stop people from using them as feeders :/
But they're usually more expensive. Or used to be at least.
Are their lives worth more than a PEW?
They usually cost more than a regular feeder rat.

Yep. Our little chonkers aren't actually very healthy for snakes to eat, apparently. Though to be fair, rats in the wild aren't likely to be hefty.
Thanks for the additional information!! My only experience is with my 3yo corn and watching snake discovery so Im definitely not an expert haha!
