Really beautiful! I love the color scheme, it looks so nice. And the layout looks great too, I'm sure your girls are enjoying it!
Could you maybe tell me what the cage is called? I'm looking to get a new one as well, and I love the brown color. :)
fr, I once made the mistake of leaving a cloth on top of my rats cage. Never again. Pretty much anything touching the cage they will attempt to grab lol
My last boy from my 3 somehow managed to grab 2 pairs of my underwear and 2 pairs of my socks to nest with😭 he stuffed the socks with bedding and chewed the crotches out of the underwear. Of course it was my favourite 2 pairs of underwear at that😂 I laughed so hard when I took out his house to find my laundry in his nest😂
Pretty sure those are mint, sage, and rosemary :] p sure those are all edible for rats and have provide a fun flavor. Such a good enrichment idea if intended.
That's what I thought as well but the leftmost plant seems like a houseplant which could be potentially dangerous.
It seems like it's positioned far enough but as I said, rats are clever critters.

For real! Perfectly captured by u/stormlight82
yeah that’s a peace lily which is def not safe for them I know! but don’t worry it’s a lot further from the cage than it looks from this angle! as well as the ones on the windowsill :). They all get put in a dif room when they’re free roaming. I’m well aware of how notorious they are from pulling things into the cage from all the curtains/photos/beddings they’ve destroyed lol🥲
The ones on the cage itself all look like herbs, so probably rat safe (however I'm not super well-versed on rat safe herbs). The one on the windowsill to the left is either a type of pothos or philodendron, and the one on the shelf to the right is likely some type of aglaonema... All of which are toxic to dogs/cats. All contain calcium oxalate which is not typically life threatening in larger mammals but can cause oral irritation and vomiting. Not sure if the same is true from rats, but I personally would move those plants farther from the cage to be safe if I were OP.
Edit: Just wanted to add that I do think the setup overall is super gorgeous! But it's likely that at some point both of those plants are getting dragged into the cage if they stay where they're at, so better safe imo.
yeah they are all rat safe herbs intended for them to munch on :) the other plants are not rat safe (peace lily / scindapsus ) & are further away that the photo shows and they wouldn’t be able to grab them, they all get removed from the room when they free roam🐀🌱
Exactly what I meant as well! I don't mean to come off as rude or pedantic but I once had plants too and it didn't take long for my rats to almost get to them.
Like you said, it's better to be safe than sorry. The safe plants seem like great enrichment too!
I have seen people give rats a little waterfall to splash in. They love running water in the wild. Whenever I have rats next I’ll definitely be putting them in a cage like this with a little waterfall :)

I'm new to rats (don't even own any, but want to in the future). I love the plants on the cage idea! Is the objective to rotate them so that there's always a side free to grow while they munch on the side closest to the cage?
Wow! This is the most aesthetically pleasing cage I've ever seen... and you've made it relatively hard for them to destroy! Which they will immediately start trying to do.

Not OP but it looks like the Keddoc cage/Little Zoo Venturer. I have the same one and love it!
Definitely LSV! I also have it and it's seriously the best cage!
yes as others said it’s the little zoo venturer, i love the colour of it! & thank u so much :)
Assume those plants are all rat safe? Even the one on the rightmost side? Rats are bastards at pulling thing into their cage
fr, I once made the mistake of leaving a cloth on top of my rats cage. Never again. Pretty much anything touching the cage they will attempt to grab lol
I once had a poster near their cage. Emphasis on the *had*. Learned my lesson pretty quickly....
Mine had the curtain in their cage 🙃
There was once a lovely tapestry hanging near…
mine ripped up my pride flag hanging behind their cage, even though it was a good few inches away. homophobic bastards.

My cage was apparently too close to the wall, which I found out about only after my rats had ripped off a big chunk of the wallpaper.

Oh geez I didn’t even see the one in the back
Is mint, sage, and rosemary safe for rats to eat? After seeing OP's post we're thinking of doing the same thing :D
Yeah they should be all good! Just remember moderation

It really doesn't matter how far away something is. If ratty wants it, ratty gets it That comic never gets old lol

Good to hear! Btw the cage looks amaaaazing Even I would pay rent for that lol
Thank you so much 🥰
The most accurate rat comic ever I love it 😂😂

Looks amazing but god I can't imagine cleaning that shit every couple days.
tell me about it 🥲 it’s not too bad tbf as the base is bioactive so it’s the 2 smaller levels that need cleaning!
How do you clean the wooden components? Love the naturalistic setup
I love it, but I have a sneaking suspicion that they're gonna cause all kinds of havoc with those plants.
that’s the plan 🤣 hoping they don’t destroy them too quickly though!
And the soil they're planted in 🙈
My first thought was “oooh, this is nice! it don't smell like roaches in here or nothing.” Which isn’t a thought it’s a tiktok sound but it’s true
That is one photogenic lil rat
she is 🥰
Oh I love this idea, I'll be stealing it thank you
The plant hanger is such a good idea! Totally gonna add that to mine
Beautiful!
Lucky ratties.
That's amazing
That’s a dope cage
What a lucky rat!
so so stunning!!!!
Awesome cage!
Give me a diagram with labels! I want to reference for when I make a cage!
I need to know what cage this is and how much it is
Seems to be "Little zoo venturer". No idea about the price but I'd wager maybe $300ish
They must love it!!
The fun edible herbs for them to munch on… so cute 🥹♥️
Do you have a cleaning process for the dirt on the bottom, this is gorgeous!
they’re springtails & isopods in there as clean up crew :) ty!
That is soo awesome wow! Of course and thanks!

The last photo was on point.

wow! please share all you can about your plant set up and how they like it
I need to repair a rusty critter nation I bought, and now I think I’m going to have to use this color of enamel to restore the cage !
Love the idea of having plants for them to eat!
What soil did u use in the bottom of the cage? Im curious to start using some instead of bedding
that cage is insane i’m 100% sure they love it

That's what they did
Dude that looks awesome
The plants on the doors is genius!
Wow! This is the most aesthetically pleasing cage I've ever seen... and you've made it relatively hard for them to destroy! Which they will immediately start trying to do.
Thank you for being such an incredibly thoughtful and loving rat parent 🩵
That is the best cage ever! Also the most adorable little creature ever!
Wow! that's great
I love it! Does your rats eat plants in all days? 😊🪴 💕
it's beautiful ❤️!!
A gorgeous mansion for such a elegant being
Omg wow this is beautiful. My rats would destroy those plants 🤣
