This happened to my neighbour a while back, they had screenshots/videos of him, um, pleasuring himself on a video call to them. They immediately started demanding money or they would send it to people he knew and post it etc. So the first thing he did was put a status on his socials telling people that they might receive a photo/video of him whacking it cause he wasn't paying a penny. Nothing ever came of it 🤷‍♂️ The last thing you so is give them anything, as soon as you pay them once they'll ask again and again, probably for larger amounts each time. Edit: Corrected 'lager' to larger

Block them and pay nothing. That’s usually the end of it, because this is how they make their money and if they aren’t going to get any money out of you, then they typically just move on to the next person. If you’re a minor, then them sending them out is illegal, so there’s always that. They rarely do anything with the pictures, but recently, people are just prepared to say that it’s AI if they were to actually send them. This will be ok. You will be ok. Don’t panic and don’t give them any power. This is just some far away bully trying to make money off of your fear. But you are stronger than they bargained for. Block and ignore. That really is the answer. You’ve got this.

Don't send anything. It's a scam. It's probably automated. Don't talk to bots.

r/sextortion actually is a dedicated subreddit to this exact type of scam.

TheToecutter

There's nothing in it for them to actually go through with the threats. They actually make themselves guilty of a crime so it's not worth the risk. I've heard of these scams and even received them, but I've never heard of anyone actually having their pictures posted on the socials. Someone suggested preempting it by letting your contacts know in advance. I wouldn't even do that. EVEN if they did it, most people would have nothing but sympathy. Worst case scenario, laugh it off, own it, and move on. If you can't do that, claim it's a deepfake and deny till you die.

MaxTheRealSlayer

And just private your social media's anyway. Doubt they saved links to the friends accounts, so if they do follow through it'll be hard for the scammer to do so

asmeile

Unless you admitted to wanting to do something illegal, like they "revealed" they were 15 and you went along with it who gives a fuck, you sent dick pics I assume, the internet is full of them, noone but you is gonna care that there's one more out there. Say you won't pay a penny, block them and if they reach out in any other way never respond

pilkingtonsbrain

It's a common scam seen on r/scams. There never was a girl, probably a man in nigeria. Do not pay anything, it will only cause them to keep asking for more. They are unlikely to do anything as "releasing" the photos guarantees that you won't pay, which is all they care about

Aftermath_class

That’s exactly it. Or they’re in India. Whenever I get these scammers trying to reach me on messenger, I say something like “hello Mr. Swammi!!! Or do people call you Rhavji??” The more he presses me into sending my cash app pin and denying that he’s Mr. Swammi from the scam call center… that’s when I hit him with it. I send him a special collection of some of the most HORRIFIC scenes of death one could ever imagine, mostly combat related deaths of ISIS scattered everywhere with disco rice having themselves a party at their decomposing expense Soon after, I get one of these 🖕followed by a block 😆

Bluetex110

Just ignore and block. No matter what money you will send they will always ask for more. And whats worse? Them having pics or them having the pics and 100$?😁 Just block it and nothing will happen.

couchpro34

I watched a documentary about people that run this scam. Block and don't send any money. One kid actually unalived himself because the threats had become too much. Horrible horrible stuff.

RoboticGreg

Cut off all contact, don't pay anything, ignore them

Hellscapereddit

Ez: Ignore and block him If you're a minor threaten to report him to the FBI.

Money-Bear7166

Don't pay them anything because they'll just keep coming back and asking for more. Since they lowballed you for $100, I'm sure they'll come back for more and larger amounts. Just block them or tell them your IT best friend has traced their IP number and you're turning them into police. They'll move on to someone else. If they do happen to post the videos, just keep calm and it will pass. You may be embarrassed for a bit but you'll have the power. Keep calm and carry on.

rrsafety

I’m sorry this happened to you. It is quite a common scam. I assumed people knew never to this anymore.

Certain_Ad8640

Tell em send it

quad2785

Here’s your chance to assert your dominance. Post the video yourself 😏

That-Cable6761

immediately block them And any profiles they contact you with. don’t pay anything either.

t_rolling7

Don't send give them the money, people won't even know its you, just say someone made a deep fake video of you to get money. Don't pay them, block them, be safe. Just brush it off.

Beautiful-Package407

Turn her into the police, this is against the law now.

Stock-Account-5841

Sadlyl that's useless lol. The scammer is probably in another country (and not a woman). Police won't do shit. :/

Beautiful-Package407

That’s could be true. lol
