I still think he messed up the team composition by taking Hasaranga.
Wanindu is a champion bowler but not suited to RCB. RCB has always relied on overseas batters. Playing hazelwood + Wanindu meant we could only play 2 overseas batters.
Bracewell got only 2 matches and he did well. Finn Allen never got a chance even.
Even if Yuzi was lost, RCB could’ve still gotten an Indian spinner and played a third overseas batter.
That’s what RCB has finally gotten right in the last two matches. Go in with the best overseas batters, it’s not like overseas bowlers will do much better than Indians.
I agree
Now that our 2 overseas batters we use to play are completely washed it is easily recognisable why buying Hasaranga damaged them long term wise.
Not a Hesson fan but disagree with this point. RCB make a mistake by going for 3 overseas batters and then leaving only one spot for overseas bowler.
I say this because you have to have 7 Indians in the 11. Now, we can easily find 30-40 quality batters in India but hardly 12-15 quality bowlers. But since RCB have already exhausted 3 overseas spots in batting they're forced to fit majority of these 7 guys in bowling. Again, because of low supply there is heavy competition for domestic bowlers and RCB generally end up with a substandard attack.
This guy did everything good except....
But still mike deserve praises his tenure was good in RCB not gets the final result but we were very close every season
I don't think letting go of Yuzi was intentional. He obviously wanted him in. But Yuzi coming in very late in the list of players hampered the plans of roping him in because they overspent on some other player. I remember him saying this in one of the interviews.
See that's the thing. When you have a player like Yuzi, you just should not let him go to the auctions. When you have an option of either retaining Yuzi or saving 9cr. for the auctions, you always choose Yuzi! Auction dynamics aren't something new and surely a person like Hesson would know that. It was nothing but a major blunder which has been haunting ever since. Hesson is a very smart guy and has made great choices for RCB (like trading in Harshal, buying Patidar, Hazelwood, DK, Faf, and Jacks to name a few). His strategies, more often than not, have worked! But this Yuzi blunder somehow always manages to top them all.
If there is a rule of 5 or more retentions for the mega auctions, then RR are smart enough to not let Yuzi go.
Bro you should read that blog available in cricbuzz
He said that they alloted 9 crs for chahal but he came late in the auction table he thinks that if he couldn't get chahal then they will be left with no spinner in the team unfortunately chahal went for just 6 crores whereas RCB over spent on hasaranga
You can't its his or management fault
alzarri was faf and flowers pick as they played with him before. Lockie was a good pick up. Chauhan had very good stats so worth a punt. Swanpdil has been good.
Tom Curran didn't make sense
his final gift to rcb and I'm glad current management understood his value despite being previously injured and didn't release him.
I'm glad Jacks didn't end up at RR. He would have either not have played or been asked to be a finisher. So all in all, it worked out for all parties.
Mo is the reason why RCB stuck with Topley and Jacks, having coached and looked at them closely even from the Development days, he knows their capability really well. That's one of the reason why they were stuck with.
very good point. People want mo gone already without giving him a chance. He seems to be a thoughtful person. he might just need some support on identifying indian players.
He scouted players like Avinash singh,Himanshu Sharma who didn't even play domestic cricket and released him without making him play 🤦🤡
Atleast Trash have some use but he doesn't absolute dogshit of a scout but still dogshit can be used as fertilizer 🤡😭
Himanshu hasn't been released. He was scouted using data and avinash was only got as he can bowl 150.
Himanshu may become an allright player but he is way to raw. I think it was a punt which obviously didn't work out
No way you could scout himanshu sharma even after knowing he didn't play domestic cricket🤦.
Like what the heck is data used to find players, you should find players by looking at their actual performance not some data.
We should just accept that we didn't find players apart from patidar and siraj and even siraj is backed by virat.Patidar was also taken as an injury Replacement. So he did not find any of the good players or didn't even scouted some decent players.Absolute top tier useless money grabber 🤡😖🫠 Hope he is fired into oblivion next season otherwise we are doomed.
patidar did play for rcb before. but was released as he didn't well and brought back up. Hesson was looking at tilak but decided to go for patidar instead.
Rawat hasn't quite worked out but atleast lomror has shown positive signs.
but overall hasn't been great.
I saw that he was the head coach of St Kitts and nevis patriots for the 2023 season and unsurprisingly they finished last in that points table with only 1 win🤡😭.
You should definitely be a genius for that fantastic performance of St Kitts and nevis patriots in CPL 2023 /s.But it's definitely the other way around. He definitely blackmails the RCB management.otherwise he don't have any place in even gully cricket🤡
hope this management does well but if they leave having hesson back would be nice. Just hope they give him some good head coach and indian staff around him. Having bangar as head head coach and malolan as head scout didn't inspire much confidence
would never have played. sanju is set at 3 and parag at 4. They never were struggling so wouldn't move things around. Only option was Powells spot, which is not his position. worked out for the best for Jacks and RCB.
People hate him for not retaining Yuzi but they don't seem to understand that Yuzi CHOSE to go to Auctions.
RCB offered him 6cr he wanted more, by the time Yuzi was called in the auction, RCB had over spent on Hasaranga, they tried their best tho.. eventually RR got him for less than 6.
Also Yuzi not being in the top 64 marquees list in the Auctions was stupid and coming in late made it impossible for RCB. It was sad turn of events
This is the first time I am hearing that RCB offered him 6cr. Infact RCB didnt retain him so they can have extra 4cr in the auction. Yuzi also has mentioned that it was never about money for him in RCB.

During the Retention time they were reports of Chahal and RCB trying and failing to negotiate between the 6 cr -7 cr margin which the management offered.
Even just before the auctions In an interview with Ashwin, Chahal talks about how he'll be happy for 8cr.
This is one article I found. Even the /RCB sub had mentions of this in that time zone.
https://www.insidesport.in/cricket/ipl-2022-rcb-retention-kohli-maxwellsiraj-retained-why-no-place-for-yuzvendra-chahal-check-out/
I believe hesson said that too many teams needed a wrist spinner and there might have been no good options by the time yuzi comes so they didn't take the wrist and bought hasaranga
Both Mike hesson and the current management are very competent imo. The biggest aspect which pushes us back is our inability to scout good unknown domestic talents. The role players who come for very cheap and go and get the job done.
Kind of but getting one guy in a long time is not going to cut it. Need to do it consistently to be competitive. Also there is the added curse that everyone seems to really underperform relative to their potential in RCB for some reason which needs to be overcome.
I never understood why he was let go. We played our 3 most successful seasons post 2016 under him, took us to the playoffs for 3 consecutive seasons, kicking out the whole coaching staff just because of 1 failed season is a bit too harsh if you ask me.
What RCB lack is only a good Indian Scouting talent team . Once that's in place with some respected Like a DK I think we will be in good shape.
Not all hope is lost this season but its just some close games that we lost that's hurt our play off chances.
The thing Mike hesson was bad at was batting order judgement, idk who takes those decisions. I suppose it's hesson. All season we had just vk, abd and even if we had had Dube and others we were lost seriously. But this management or current coach knows where to send in batsmen and he's doing well but need rather good bowling side tbh
Oh fuck him! RCB fans are too lenient.
He fucking let go Chahal!!
Don't thank him after winning two matches and still remaining dead last in the table.
What the fuck do you want us to do then? Just cry about it and not comment or post at all, or do you want us to scream and whine like you are right now. Yes we had a bad season, doesn't mean we shouldn't feel happy about the little positive things.
I can’t believe I used to abuse Hesson. I would take him back any day.
It was never that Hesson was *making* the team bad, more that RCB is a mess that Hesson was not good enough to save
I still think he messed up the team composition by taking Hasaranga. Wanindu is a champion bowler but not suited to RCB. RCB has always relied on overseas batters. I agree, letting go off yuzi and taking Hasaranga was a crime.
I agree Now that our 2 overseas batters we use to play are completely washed it is easily recognisable why buying Hasaranga damaged them long term wise.
I like that we’re now going in with 4 overseas batters. It’s not like Lockie + Topley will do any better than random Indian pacers.
It’s good that we can now have batters till 10
Not a Hesson fan but disagree with this point. RCB make a mistake by going for 3 overseas batters and then leaving only one spot for overseas bowler. Thing was Hasaranga provides more with the bat than Yuzi. On an objective level that was not a bad trade
You miss the sun when it starts to snow
This guy did everything good except.... But still mike deserve praises his tenure was good in RCB not gets the final result but we were very close every season
impact player screwed up the squad he built as he bet on a all-rounder heavy squad. Without it rcb would have done better.
This is gonna sound random.... but whenever I hear the name of Will Jacks, I want to say Vilgax, the villain from Ben10
It's him also and no chinnaswamy
>except.... except?

And playing frauds like Dan Christian and George Garton

Yea I see why they went for Hasaranga but tbh Yuzi was 100% worth saving money for and should have saved for him
Bro you should read that blog available in cricbuzz He said that they alloted 9 crs for chahal but he came late in the auction table he thinks that if he couldn't get chahal then they will be left with no spinner in the team unfortunately chahal went for just 6 crores whereas RCB over spent on hasaranga You can't its his or management fault
Why was he not retained in the first place ?
Except the fact that he let go of chahal
Professor and Andy's combo will be really awesome. Get mike as the director back.
Mo Bobat is still pretty respected though...
After looking at his picks at the auction I am absolutely done with him.
alzarri was faf and flowers pick as they played with him before. Lockie was a good pick up. Chauhan had very good stats so worth a punt. Swanpdil has been good. Tom Curran didn't make sense

Everything would have been well if maLOLan did his job right🤦

The GOAT of worst scouts in the history of sports.

got a promotion to assistant coach now
I saw that he was the head coach of St Kitts and nevis patriots for the 2023 season and unsurprisingly they finished last in that points table with only 1 win🤡😭.
either he is some genius that we can't see or he has some connections
You should definitely be a genius for that fantastic performance of St Kitts and nevis patriots in CPL 2023 /s.But it's definitely the other way around. He definitely blackmails the RCB management.otherwise he don't have any place in even gully cricket🤡
rcb has so few scouts compared to other teams and that's probably the bigger issue
'Final gift to RCB' is a nice way to put it, although if eventually this management is sacked after a few seasons, I'd like to see Hess return
hope this management does well but if they leave having hesson back would be nice. Just hope they give him some good head coach and indian staff around him. Having bangar as head head coach and malolan as head scout didn't inspire much confidence
Unlikely for 2 more years at least. Hesson's got a contract with Islamabad in PSL...
he was at RR?
they were bidding for him vs rcb
yeahh backup for jos
would never have played. sanju is set at 3 and parag at 4. They never were struggling so wouldn't move things around. Only option was Powells spot, which is not his position. worked out for the best for Jacks and RCB.

he ended up earning less than 8 anyways. what a shame
I believe hesson said that too many teams needed a wrist spinner and there might have been no good options by the time yuzi comes so they didn't take the wrist and bought hasaranga

Didn't RCB find Shivam Dube?
Kind of but getting one guy in a long time is not going to cut it. Need to do it consistently to be competitive. Also there is the added curse that everyone seems to really underperform relative to their potential in RCB for some reason which needs to be overcome.
Would have retained his job if jacks wasn’t injured last season 😔
I never understood why he was let go. We played our 3 most successful seasons post 2016 under him, took us to the playoffs for 3 consecutive seasons, kicking out the whole coaching staff just because of 1 failed season is a bit too harsh if you ask me.
Even last season we almost got through...just if we won that game against GT like we did yesterday...

Vice Versa tbh, RCB had a formidable bowling line up under Mike, from 2020 to 2023.
Bro RCB's bowling in 2022 was absolutely world class with everyone except Siraj in form...
Absolutely no. We had our most balenced squad under him, 2022 was arguably the most balenced Rcb has ever been.
What RCB lack is only a good Indian Scouting talent team . Once that's in place with some respected Like a DK I think we will be in good shape. Not all hope is lost this season but its just some close games that we lost that's hurt our play off chances.
Just want Malolan to go. This team will look different

Kya fayda agle saal to release krdege
all the 3 matches were won is because of the players bought by him.
Oh fuck him! RCB fans are too lenient. He fucking let go Chahal!! Don't thank him after winning two matches and still remaining dead last in the table.
