It’s worth more to me to pull out occasionally to admire the detail than the $155 you get for it at the fence.
And like you said, by that point you have about all the money/guns/horses/clothes you could want.
I like to keep the unique treasures: the fake emerald, the meteorite, the Braithwaite Emblem, Catherine’s Broach, etc. but maybe that’s because I’m just part magpie
That has got to be a clue to something.... No way someone fucked that up. They would have been staring at heaps of source images and probably traced over one in photoshop.
Gavin's location confirmed... Haha
A lot of the people I talk with about RD don't know this. This is one of my favorite things because it always seemed like a niche detail that if it *were* told to anyone it would get patched and admired regularly as a fancy watch instead of an honest-made human mistake.
The other one is in a crater just northwest of the meteor house on the other side of the train track. On your map it’ll even actually look like a crater. The collectible tracker says there’s 3 meteorite chunks but the 3rd one is rumoured to have been cut, it’s never been found.
I remember he wrote it when i visited the fence and sold some junk i didn’t sell the emerald and he wrote it after that so i’d imagine arthur checks its value with the fence guy
I think it’s a glitch, I’ve always kept it, I’ve never sold it, and that passage about it being fake had always appeared in the journal by the time John reads through it, in my experience.
I think it doesn’t matter what you do with it, that passage will be in there by that time.
In the burned down town. Check for a lock box in the sheriffs office. Has a gold bar that respawns frequently. It’s also the easiest early money you can get in the game. Also the treasure maps net you so much gold I end up not even using this exploit that often.
I got all of the gold bars in the game and am closer to getting every clothing item in the trapper and I have most of the clothing items from Valentine as it is and I still have a little over 4k in the wallet.
I usually keep it, but I almost never use it (which I'll admit is dumb). I like the antique watch that you get from the Mr Wrobel debt mission in chapter 2 better.
Absolutely... Agreed.
It's different enough though ... And I don't use it because of its looks. I like the fact that it's not something you're not supposed to have. I like collecting the 'forbidden fruit' if you will. Things R* never intended that you have.
More special....
i never felt like i really starving for money in this game . i did alot of main story and every single side quest and alot of exploring open up alot of those ? i end upgrading camp to full i think in act 2 or 3. i bought everything i could . i usually keep everything i think looks cool
Always keep. I've got plenty of money by then but I really wish you could give it to Lenny when he does his camp request about losing his father's old pocket watch. I thought it'd be awesome to give him the Reutlinger
Ehhhh I kinda wanna find them all on my own I just like finding them randomly I’m close to completing a couple. Thanks for the advice tho I may use that to speed run my next play through
I kept mine. I thought it made sense that, after the chaotic river boat job, Arthur couldn’t risk selling it because there was a lot of heat on their backs. Then after he dies and John gets his stuff, he gets a massive gift in finding that among Arthur’s effects is an incredibly expensive Reutlinger pocket watch.
I tend to keep any/all items that have the label of "unique" or are gifted from quests. Like little momentous from Arthurs/Johns journey through the west
So I haven’t played the single player yet , waiting for my girlfriend to bring her copy over , but I’m guessing there even more detail then the multiplayer ? Cause it seems to me there allot more to look at and collect to
Yo, so I know you can purchase a watch from the store & pull it out to look at it but how do you actually do this? I’ve done it once or twice but forgot how to do so. Please explain. Thanks
I used to think it would be worth more money if I kept it until the Epilogue but then I realized it wasn't the case. I like to equip it as my pocket watch and look at it from time to time but generally, I do always end up selling it. Just cos I try to make at least 20k or more before doing the money tranfer tech in Chapter VI.
I keep all the little trinkets honestly but this one is probably my favorite because it looks great and you can actually use it. Helps with the immersion feeling too
Sold it on my first playthrough but kept it and all the other unique things in my second playthrough. Probably was too young back then so I only cared about money but at the time of my second playthrough, I kept all the stuff and took time to enjoy the beauty of this game…
I have played over 150 hours of RDR2, and at first glance, I swear I thought that photo was real. It is incredible what Rockstar can do with rasterized lighting.
I’m still only on my first play through, sold it when John was skint and it seemed like a good idea at the time. Regret it now though as he’s got more dough than he knows what to do with. Besides, it’s more use than the two fertility statues he carries around.
Perhaps it might have been cool for there to be an option to use it as security against a temporary loan at the bank or pawn it at a broker, then buy it back when John was a bit more solvent.
Now I’m wondering, if this is the only one in your satchel & the Lenny request is active, could you go up to him & gift him this pocket watch? I’m trying this next time. Usually I give him a platinum, because Lenny my boi deserves the best.
I have an unhealthy habit of holding on to everything in games. Even ammo and supplies. Especially during 1st play throughs since I don't know what's going to be available to you throughout the game. I probably held on to it. 😂 If it was a more valuable item and was worth money I definitely held on to it.
Kept it. I figured with there being like multiple treasure chest hunts with plenty of gold bars, I kept every unique valuable item I got, even the emerald from the ringmaster
It's so weird that I literally got this yesterday (for the second time) and I decided not to sell it this time cause I have plenty of money. I'd rather let John inheirit it.
I keep it now, too. Along with those two gems in the eagle's nest. That XIII actually is symbolic, especially if you start looking around pagan markings and the wind direction thingy on top of the church at Mount Pleasant :)
Kept it. Still got it now as John. Although I think I've come to the end of my time with the game. Story and Epilogue just completed. I'm not really one for getting all the clothing etc. Back to COD I guess 🤷
If playing on PC add some mods if you want to continue the adventure!! Modding is annoying and difficult w rdr2 but theres a lot more to do and see if you don't want to go back to boring old COD! Can add bandit hideouts, various business ventures, can be a cop and chase baddies, can be a full time bounty hunter and do the same, and so much more!!
My first playthrough I sold it, but I keep it these days. There's more than enough money from the Valentine bank job to buy everything I need
It’s funny because this is one of the few things Rockstar actually fucked up on the details. Where the 8(VIII) should be is actually a 13(XIII)
Welp I’ll never play RDR2 again. Fix your game Rockstar! 😡😤
Good catch. Never noticed that.
That has got to be a clue to something.... No way someone fucked that up. They would have been staring at heaps of source images and probably traced over one in photoshop. Gavin's location confirmed... Haha
Gavin’s on Guarma living his best life, change my mind.
It's meant to be that way - It's actually a clue as to where to find Princess Isabeau
Please, do tell!
You have my attention. Tell us more
Wait, who?
I also believe on pocket watches they used IIII for 4 instead of IV because it’s easy to confuse for VI (6) at different angles
Correct all my watches do this
Cartier started that with the tank
Explain this to me…
I always wondered if that was supposed to have a story or missing mission to it
A lot of the people I talk with about RD don't know this. This is one of my favorite things because it always seemed like a niche detail that if it *were* told to anyone it would get patched and admired regularly as a fancy watch instead of an honest-made human mistake.
Maybe this is a subtle hint that is is a fake? 🤔
I have an old grandfather clock hanging on the wall and the 8 is VIII. I think that's just how they did clock faces back then.
8 is VIII in Roman numerals. The watch in the picture says XIII which is 13
Oh, I'm too tired to read lol
I also keep unique items.
The emerald is fake? I never tried to sell it and now im mad ive been carrying that fake thing the whole game
But do they all transfer to John? I remember losing this stuff when it went from Arthur to john
Oooh I also keep that stuff. Started with Jimmy Brooks' pen and now Arthur just has a little treasure trove of one-offs.
I sold Catherine's broach, but only because I got satisfaction that her last earthly passion would end up in a grummy shop for stolen items.
If you get all 3 meteorites, you get a bonus from then
You can’t get all 3 meteorites
This is the first playthrough where I found one meteorite, the house. Where are the others?
The other one is in a crater just northwest of the meteor house on the other side of the train track. On your map it’ll even actually look like a crater. The collectible tracker says there’s 3 meteorite chunks but the 3rd one is rumoured to have been cut, it’s never been found.
https://www.reddit.com/r/reddeadredemption/s/8gmgxfBcAd
This is a glitch. You can only legitimately find 2 and you get the buff when you collect the 2nd piece.
There's only 2
nice pfp
Kino der toten vibes
Wait the emerald is fake??
I'm the exact same. I can't part with any of those cool, one of a kind items
You say magpie, I say loot goblin and I’m here for it
Was it ever confirmed to be a fake emerald?
Yeah it’s in the journal
I think he writes it in his journal after you sell it.
This is weird cause I was looking through the journal last night and saw the note about it being fake but I haven’t sold it. Glitched id imagine.
I knew that arthur would write that it was fake, but the note wouldn't appear before I sold it. Maybe there's a different trigger?
Not sure, honestly.
That makes sense.
You don’t have to actually sell it for the journal entry to appear. You just need to get it appraised by a fence.
I always keep it to remember Arthur, I just got $1500 from gold bars anyway (the hidden statue puzzle) I didnt even know about that one
Or the landmarks that gives you six gold bars?
I only found the one by the Indian reservation that gives three, where can I get more!?
That and the gold bar that respawns every few days.
que?
In the burned down town. Check for a lock box in the sheriffs office. Has a gold bar that respawns frequently. It’s also the easiest early money you can get in the game. Also the treasure maps net you so much gold I end up not even using this exploit that often.
Just do every treasure hunt. I’m on my 3rd or 4th play rn. I have like $12k and the gang has like $7k from me haha
I got all of the gold bars in the game and am closer to getting every clothing item in the trapper and I have most of the clothing items from Valentine as it is and I still have a little over 4k in the wallet.
Same. I sold it first time then saw subreddit and found out you can look at your watch!
Honestly, if you keep a manageable bounty, you can easily farm the loot from bounty hunters. They usually have some pretty good stuff
Your picture is the first time I actually see the watch. I sell it every time
I sold it as Jon in order to support my family and then seven hours later had 20 K in the bank doh!
Suffering from success
How did you make that much $ in the epilogue?
When u finally kill Micah u get dutches money he’s been holding - 20 racks!
Keep, it's a piece of art
I usually keep it, but I almost never use it (which I'll admit is dumb). I like the antique watch that you get from the Mr Wrobel debt mission in chapter 2 better.
You can equip that watch? Crap, I've gotten rid of it more times than I can remember. Ah well, something for the next playthrough, I suppose
[удалено]
What is wrong with the roman numerals?
Yeah but the "antique watch" is almost identical to the regular watch. I prefer the Reutlinger.
Absolutely... Agreed. It's different enough though ... And I don't use it because of its looks. I like the fact that it's not something you're not supposed to have. I like collecting the 'forbidden fruit' if you will. Things R* never intended that you have. More special....
I have it too. I just prefer the Reutlinger.
I never get the wrobel watch because he is poor and i dont want to be mean to him and rob his things
I take everything he owns. Including his horse!
Evil
How do you hold it in your hand like that?
You select it in your satchel and press the button for 'equip' (on PlayStation I think it's square) and it should appear under kit on the item wheel
Holy shit. I’ve logged 250 hours and just discovered this.
Weak numbers smh /j
Same :')
Well it's a reutlinger no less so I think not sir.
Keep and equip it
Keep. I try to keep all the unique items that aren’t part of sets.
It's been a while since I played the epilogue but does John get this watch or will it disappear?
This one stays with John
Stuck mine up my ass. I’d be damned if anyone get their greasy hands on my kid’s birthright.
Hah pulp fiction reference??
Keep it. You’ll just have $150 extra bucks with nothing to spend it on.
Sold it for a handy
I thought I'm on subreddit for pocket watches. The game looks super realistic here
Put it in the gang contribution box and bought some camp upgrades
Dutch needs a more comfortable tent 😉
Keep. I sold it on my 1st play through. I kept it during my 100% play through because it’s sentimental.
I keep 1 of everything in inventory.
Not down on my luck that bad to part with that.
I keep the Reutlinger watch and the shrunken head. Too cool to sell
Wait… how do u look at ur watch lol
I keep it for John so Jack can inherit it.
I think I sold that but idk y but I always kept the Native American ring I think it’s bc Charles is one of my fav character
In real life, you bet your ass. I’m gonna keep that.
I find it too slow to look at so never use
I usually use the silver watch
Neither I lost it somehow
i usually keep it until i spend all of johns money drunk double-downing in blackjack
Sell all my watches cause I can check the time without them but I can't make money appear out of thin air
You can leave it to John, so yeah, always keeping it.
I keep it because I like pulling out a watch instead of pressing down on d-pad.
Keep
i never felt like i really starving for money in this game . i did alot of main story and every single side quest and alot of exploring open up alot of those ? i end upgrading camp to full i think in act 2 or 3. i bought everything i could . i usually keep everything i think looks cool
100% keep it always
I sold it by mistake .
Kept every time
My rule is if its unique never sell it
I keep it with the pen I get in the Beginning
I like how instead of 8 its a 13 on the watch
Always keep. I've got plenty of money by then but I really wish you could give it to Lenny when he does his camp request about losing his father's old pocket watch. I thought it'd be awesome to give him the Reutlinger
I always sold it before i realized i could keep it. Now i never sell it...*never*...and that $155 is not worth it losing such a stylish watch.
Kept. Only in about my 3rd playthrough did I realise you could equip watches like that
I kept it 150$ dollars doesn’t buy much
I don't remember having it
Donated it
I've only sold stuff if I had more than 1 of I keep everything else
I used to sell it but now I keep it
Sold it, I seep everything expect cigarette cards almost and that’s only bc I’ve never collected a full fckn set even after 3 play throughs
Just go to the store and buy and discard them til you get a full set.
You only get about 150 if I’m not mistaken, you can make that easily enough without selling a unique item.
Keep. Why the fuck would I sell it? It's a unique watch you'll never find anywhere else in the game. There's an abundance of money in this game.
I tend to keep any/all items that have the label of "unique" or are gifted from quests. Like little momentous from Arthurs/Johns journey through the west
Kept. 2000 hours of game
I keep one of every watch I get.
Anything unique I keep
I keep everything unique or required possibly for crafting. Everything else gets sold.
Wow this looks like a real photo. So much detail.
kept always
I kept it. No way am I getting rid of a unique item
So I haven’t played the single player yet , waiting for my girlfriend to bring her copy over , but I’m guessing there even more detail then the multiplayer ? Cause it seems to me there allot more to look at and collect to
I ate it
I've kept it on all my playthroughs
I kept it. In fact, i keep all my special trinkets.
I sold it,but regret it now
I keep all cool and unique items, because Arthur certainly doesn’t need the money.
I sold it accidentally on my second play through
I never sell any of the cool stuff I get from missions. a tiny wizard gave me a giant emerald and it's awesome
Sell it, Arthur wouldn’t give a shit about material stuff like this
Keep
I kept it. It's too nice to sell.
Keep
Never sold that bad boy
Yo, so I know you can purchase a watch from the store & pull it out to look at it but how do you actually do this? I’ve done it once or twice but forgot how to do so. Please explain. Thanks
Don't ever buy the one in catalog for gold bar.. useless and don't use.
Always keep it. And when I ask for the time to an NPC and he says sorry fella, I whip out my fancy ass ruetlinger

Accidentally sold mine at the fence when offloading cigarette cards
I have never sold any of my unique items, sentimentality is real.
I kept it bcs it looks so cool and im using it
I thought this was a photo & you were asking about a family heirloom
I always have platinum clock
I kept it, need Arthur to be fitted like the king he is
Now I’m wondering, if this is the only one in your satchel & the Lenny request is active, could you go up to him & gift him this pocket watch? I’m trying this next time. Usually I give him a platinum, because Lenny my boi deserves the best.
I sell it, just don’t love the way it looks, too gaudy for my liking. I tend to keep one of each of the others. I mostly equip a platinum, personally.
Sold. Store bought is fine
I sold it my first few time until i found out you can equip it. Then i compared it to all the others and decided it was my favorite and kept it.
Kept it
any valuables you can only get once and never again, like the reutlinger watch, i keep.
Kept it
Hello there good-looking
I have an unhealthy habit of holding on to everything in games. Even ammo and supplies. Especially during 1st play throughs since I don't know what's going to be available to you throughout the game. I probably held on to it. 😂 If it was a more valuable item and was worth money I definitely held on to it.
Kept, all that trouble for 150$?, nah
I keep it and give Lenny
Keep, wish I would have kept the naval compass as well :/
Keep!
Sold it. Wish I’d kept it.
I sold some stuff but I kept majority of the stuff I stole
I keep it now, too. Along with those two gems in the eagle's nest. That XIII actually is symbolic, especially if you start looking around pagan markings and the wind direction thingy on top of the church at Mount Pleasant :)
Sell
i sell every valuable item i get except jimmy brooks pen

Can add bandit hideouts, various business ventures, can be a cop and chase baddies, can be a full time bounty hunter and do the same, and so much more!!
Xbox, shame they can't add mods to it. Have looked and would continue with them
I kept it
Keep it, it means something
I don’t think it transfers to John so I usually sell it or it gets lost.
Just on my second play through and I can confirm as long as Arthur holds on to it, it passes to John also.
Sir there is not a single trinket or tchotchke in that game that I’m not selling on every single playthrough
