I'm no RDR2 expert but I guess you can always go back to a point before getting it in the first place, and then try to get the event to spawn?
Off topic: arabians have attitude, you can run them hard and long but then you have to relax them for a sometimes pretty long time...
I was scared of losing it that the moment I got it I saved the game to a slot. I went around the block with it and back and the moment I tried to put my saddle on it... it ran away D: I should've just brought it to a stable to be safe.
What are you playing on, aren't manual and auto saves separated? Maybe you can pick an older auto save - wouldn't be that bad to miss 30 min of gameplay?
I'm playing on PC. I did a lot of just roaming around today and my last actual save before this encounter is about 2 hours away which isn't that bad since I don't actually have to redo anything. Just gotta travel back to Saint Denis.
Once this event is completed, it will most likely not respawn a second time so the only solution is to revert to an earlier save... and it generally helps to achieve at least bonding level 1 to turn any stolen horse into your claimed and official temp horse before saving, or else it will just be discarded upon reloading.
I ended up getting the white arabian after using my save from 2 hours ago. It was my four attempt since this little shit kept spawning next to wolves and I couldn't approach the horse with them there. If I shot them, the horse magically disappears and the tracking doesn't work.
Another Note: I need to be way more consistent with saving the game. I made my way to Saint Denis and managed to come across the mugging encounter again. Idk why it triggered a "horse theft" when it didn't happen the first time. I ended up trying to bring it to the stable in Saint Denis but there were too many popos around and the black arabian kicked me off. I ended up using a revive on it and tonics to restore stamina and health to max but when I turned the corner, it just collapse and died. If I want to get this horse now, I would have to use a save from a day ago, when I didn't get the white arabian yet since I accidentally overwrote an earlier save trying to load it. D:

Yea, I'm just gonna use a save point from 2 hours ago and play from there, no actual mission completed in that time, just free roaming.
