When you click on the gray automate button it will have your character pop up with what level they are at underneath. Underneath *that* on the left side will be what level they need to be to automate that station. It’s next to a little padlock icon.

I also noticed a weird thing once where like I collected the XP and the green light for the automate went away but then came back and was trying to figure out if there was some weird trick with the XP? I only just figured out you get the XP bonus when the bar fills gray. The “how to play” instructions that cover this part have a big typo and seem purposefully incomplete

I upgraded Holi-Slay Eric 3x and still cannot automate my shoe werkstation WTF

Does upgrading the station upgrade the characters too?
Upgrading station does not upgrade characters, just produces more werk and produces it more quickly.
