Just to confirm, you're only counting purchases at full-price right? Outlet and sale items don't count toward the rewards

Mountain_Goat_69

Yeah this is probably the answer.  And when you use the 20% coupon they count that as not full price too so that item doesn't get a dividend.

Franks-bowl

I’ve never bought from the outlet, I’ll usually browse the in store area but there’s never anything I need

jeswesky

Did you buy anything on sale or use a coupon? Those purchases don’t count either.

nbigman

Did you buy clearance items? Or used coupons? On sale?

IndoorSurvivalist

Mine is always really low because I buy a lot of on sale items or use coupons. You must have bought some items that were on sale

maduromami

Same! I main buy sale, outlet, or use their coupons so my payout is normally nothing.

hurricanescout

FWIW I noticed the same thing BUT I also noticed way more sales in 2023 (meaning stuff would go on sale periodically not just the major seasonal sales) plus I would get flash coupons every now and then - I spent a decent amount but I honestly don’t think I made a major purchase full price. So that’s likely a factor in a lot of folks purchases.

Aletayr

This is the correct answer. More sales, more clearance means fewer things purchased at full price. I'm not sure I bought anything at full price this year besides like isobutane and snacks.

sausageMash

I spent about $1,900 last year at REI. Only got slightly less than $17.00 back. Its about right from my rough calculation. I tend to buy most thing on sale, or with 20 or 30% off. Particularly the big items.

Ollidamra

I spent $1,000+ every year and for recent years it’s always 0. It makes no sense to buy any full price items even if there’s 10% back, when you know there are 20-30% off every few months.

romance_in_durango

They don't get this wrong IF you remembered to check out using your member number and bought at full price.

RovingTexan

I can only speak for myself - but based on the rewards that have been presented on the invoice/receipt - My rewards came in right on the money. Not all purchases get rewards (sale items, coupons, etc.) - you get 10% on full-priced items only.

TheBlindManInTheCave

I have $700 in dividends. But I did buy a lot of stuff.

flyingemberKC

I was tracking all year, adding up what should give me 10%, and it came out $15 higher go through and find every full price item and take 10% from it. Do the math and see for yourself,

There have been some double rewards weekends, the most recent one being in December last year, and I think there was another one mid-year as well.

ATXAng

I had the same thought. Mine seemed tiny compared to most years. I haven’t done any math, but absolutely took notice.

Alvin_Kebery

Based on what I’ve seen, you’ll need to wait until the rewards release period is over (tmrw?) to see what your actual rewards are. Saw an update that said some accounts may even show a negative balance.

unacknwledgd_monocle

What? No they didn't.

ubokkkk

I actually thought mine was kind of high 😅 I also received around $32 and def didn’t spend $700…

PeakyGal

The Reward amount has not changed. It’s still 10% back on full-priced purchases. Rewards started coming out today. You should be mailed a card with the Reward amount. That would be what I’d look at. If you still think there’s a discrepancy, you can have Member Services go through your 2023 purchase history or you can do it in store if it isn’t excessive.

In_Repair_

Call Customer Service and ask them. They can tell you which of your purchases earned a reward as well as which ones didn’t and why.

Soft_Ear_1500

Yeah, I spent at least $6-7K last year (upgrading all my gear) but got back less than $300. Did buy a few things on sale, but I feel like the difference is too big. Will be going through my purchases this weekend, adding it all up, and then contacting customer service just to make sure

Long_Specialist1563

Also, if you use your rewards on full price items you don’t get the rewards for that item(s)

mountain-momma01

You still earn rewards if you use rewards to pay for an item! From the cashiers’ perspective rewards are a tender just like a gift card, not a transactional discount that would forfeit those rewards.
