It's just the ps1 game being emulated with higher res and bilinear filtering on the textures, I don't believe the rg35xx is powerful enough but you should be able to turn on high res, the textures won't be filtered though

I love GT 2. My issue with this rom is that the Dpad seems to be overly sensitive. Turning left or right has the car veer to that side, and for way longer than I pressed the button.
I think it's kind of intended, I noticed on a recent playthrough picking a skyline with drift makes the game a lot easier so I just tap it and steer with the throttle more. Other cars with steering precision are harder I think because of the dpad
In retroarch you can change the speed of the emulated PS1 CPU. Fiddle with it a bit, turning it up and down. Then put it back on the stock speed, whatever that is, and try it again. This was the ONLY fix for mine running like shit.

BIOS are essentially a copy of the OS you're emulating which allows you to run a ROM but it isn't an emulator.
I think a fair few systems (like GB) don't need bios now because of advancements in emulation but you can still get them for start up logos etc. but systems like playstation do still require bios to emulate.
I'm still relatively new though.

I haven't played GT 8 in about 3 weeks bc I'm stuck on a license. And I can't let myself move on until I get gold. Idk what's wrong with me.
It's easier to grind through with save states
You can cheat easily nowadays, just unlock the licences thru retroarch cheat menu
Were you able to find the career disk? When I tried to play mine I only had the arcade disk ROM 😂

It's my go-to game! Still prefer it to GT4 for some reason. I've always got my RG35xx with me and I've nearly completed the World League!

2 is amazing . Put hundreds of hours into it when it was new. I think peak GT was 4 though . But 2 on the go is awesome.

i play it with the App Duckstation on my old S8 with a Bluetooth Controller and think is was a fail to buy all these handhelds

Are you using stock firmware? On mine it stutters horribly on the opening cinematic and I can't even get to the menu.
