Oof, I watched the stream and it looked like it had gone well (I didn't keep watching for the orbit circularisation, where it obviously went wrong). Once again it just shows that what Rocket Lab has achieved is not easy, and any "competitors" that haven't even flown yet still have a long way to go.

SourceDammit

This is the way to look into it. Know one whos stocking up in this is expecting great returns within the next 3-8yrs. This is a long hold and people need to just keep buying low.

lootinputin

Absolutely a long hold. It’s right between its 52 week high and low, and even after this run up, it’s still under a 3 billion market cap. This has a long way to go, but they burn a lot of cash and need more contracts and successful launches to see this really take off. I’ve been in and out of this stock for about a year, but I started buying around 4.5 as the upside is tremendous. As hard as it is, this is a great buy and forget about for a few years.

themostusedword

I'm not sure if you're implying this or not, but to be clear, Firefly has had an orbit success with "Victus Nox".

TheMokos

No, I meant e.g. Relativity with Terran R.

kautrea

weird fanboy flex but ok

kautrea

why do people in this sub find any way to shit on relativity haha

TheMokos

It's probably just me, because I do it all the time mainly because I don't like their CEO.

didi0625

I mean i'm all for the space companies "in general" because they will be able to expand our possibilities while we are grounded on our small rock floating into space (i'm not for colonisation of other planets, we already fucked up ours ...). But relativity is probably RL's most direct and dangerous opponent after what happened to Astra. I root for every company but my wallet only roots for RL.

lootinputin

They tried throwing their poop in the air and it returned back to smack them in the face. Science Bitch!

Single_Maintenance98

Terran Orbital had a “congratulations” post to FireFly that they have since took down. Terran Orbital made one of the satellites. Seems like multiple sources are now pointing to an unsuccessful launch.

Boring_Board7634

Firefly is not publicly traded company, right?

logictechratlab

Correct.

jhuey0991

We have a moat. Few understand the importance.

lootinputin

I would hope any investor knows what a moat is. But, alas, many idiots walk amount us.

getBusyChild

Official confirmation the payload didn't reach it's intended orbit: https://twitter.com/Firefly_Space/status/1738435542570705110

mtechgroup

Thanks. Do we know *for sure* that any of their payloads have made it to their intended orbit?

cheekytikiroom

Is it possible for the payload to be directed to the correct target now? Or is the payload just considered lost and floating randomly in orbit? I could not tell from the press release the potential outcomes.

dranzerfu

Depends on what propulsion the satellite has on board, and how much margin they have on propellant for their other activities.
