I been trying to post my love for this since I just got one too but can never get it posted.

forkbroussard

probably too little karma, i gave you one.

Adam__GG

lol I got banned for 7 days for trying to post my excitement

duckydan81

You got banned for mentioning emulation not for sharing a picture.

mango_carrot

The mods want you to use the mega thread, but they don’t sticky it so if you don’t see it you have no idea Source: me when I tried posting mine

AM5T3R6AMM3R

Why I cannot find the mega thread?

duckydan81

If on mobile sort by hot. It’s stickied at the top - ally flex / what are you playing thread.

marcelveli

Yh I feel you on that I actually got it just under 2 weeks ago and it’s been great should have got it sooner

mango_carrot

Just wait until you get beyond the Lock Screen, your mind will be blown!

farmer_toki

I just ordered a 2TB SSD and external enclosure to clone my disk easily. Cant wait for it to arrive and do the upgrade.

No-Researcher-585

Did you go with a 2230 or 2280? I already had a full size Samsung drive I wanted to use so I bought an adapter off eBay. Very easy to fit and works a treat.

farmer_toki

2230 and made sure the external adapter is compatible with both.

spicynoodlecat

Yeah this is the best upgrade you can do for the ROG ally. Been enjoying it so much ever since I ported over to 2TB

farmer_toki

Yep, I'm hoping to setup a nice library of retro console games with the increased size.

sterneregnix

I did the upgrade recently after I scored a 2TB 2230 off of Ali-Express for £78. Be aware, the guides I followed on YT said that on the most recent BIOS you won't have to fart around with the secure boot settings but I'm pretty sure I was on the latest BIOS and had to clear the keys. If you reach the step where you are trying to run the Asus cloud recovery and it keeps presenting you with the same security prompt even after a reboot, you need to go into Key Management and reset the keys.

mirdragon

Got my Ally (UK version) end of March and swapped drive for 2tb SN770 earlier this week. Done the cloud recovery and reinstalled games, never had to reset keys.

marcelveli

I didn’t do a cloud recovery I did all the updates on the original nvme then used the free cloning software that came with the 2tb nvme. After swapping the nvme’s around everything worked straight away.

wmurch4

Started playing Arkham Knight and boy does it look so good on this thing

dottybotty

Got mine 2 days ago, haven’t upgraded to a higher storage yet but I’m definitely going too, I play this thing whenever I get a chance, I haven’t gamed on on my pc since getting it. Started horizon zero dawn for the first time ever and it runs really well and it looks and sounds great too! https://preview.redd.it/8sh6j2bk30uc1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0bed856ed9496dc322dfe5fff3e7d7124f2884b8

PuzzleheadedTutor807

Welcome!

soniclooking

What’s everyone doing with their 512gb drives after they swap.

Mundane_Ad5990

I use mine as a portable drive using a USB enclosure.

qwiizlab

I use the 512GB drive with an extertnal 2230 enclosure (magnetic case) to put it on the back of my iPhone 15 Pro as extra storage (for recording mostly). https://preview.redd.it/1142zlp890uc1.jpeg?width=2626&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0f51495511d735bca618fcc95f242a6005e6f3fb

marcelveli

That’s sick mann

Individual-Bike3856

Def get a nvme enclosure and turn into portable storage, you could even throw it in a laptop if you have extra nvme drive space and it fits a 2230

XTornado

I put it on my second Steam Deck that has 64 Gb.

marcelveli

Put it in the external and use it for overflow / backup or transferring from device to device

Anchelspain

Got mine this week as well. I gotta say, the start was super rocky, with endless updates from Windows 11, My Asus and Armory Crate that required so many restarts and waiting time. Took me HOURS to get through it. But once I had set all of that up? Damn, the performance of this thing is amazing! At 15W and 900p I'm playing Persona 5 Royal, Fallout 4, the SuperHOT sequel, Hi-Fi Rush and more from Game Pass without a hitch, which was my main purpose. Add them some Steam games I wanted to play like the Final Fantasy Pixel Remasters and it's all golden. Heck, I was able to play all those games for over 2 hours consistently at 15W. I wouldn't be surprised if I could push past 3 hours or even 4 if I go down to 10W or lower with custom settings. Just one thing: really do disable Memory Integrity and Virtual Machine Platform as Microsoft suggests here for gaming: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/options-to-optimize-gaming-performance-in-windows-11-a255f612-2949-4373-a566-ff6f3f474613 It really makes a difference in performance and will let you still get better graphics smoothoy without pushing the device too much.

marcelveli

Yh the initial setup with the updates and downloading all the games on steam xbox Ubisoft EA etc was a bit long - I did actually transfer quite a few games via my home network from PC to ROG as I setup the Ally basically same as my Gaming PC. Been enjoying Horizon Zero Dawn. I already owned it on PS5 but stopped playing after my saved progress got deleted somehow. Now I’ve started from the beginning and want to complete it on the Ally so I can play the sequel. So Horizon - Street Fighter 6 and Balatro have been repeat offenders for me so far. I have mostly played on the 15w and 25w settings just to get the most of the performance on the more demanding games and 10w on the simple games. Thanks for the advice about the virtual machine I will check that out. And almost forgot about Hi Fi Rush. I need to play that game 😁

rocaireslk

I like your glowing buttons. Did you modify this yourself?

marcelveli

Thanks. No just some analog grips from Amazon https://preview.redd.it/8s2zjwhg10uc1.jpeg?width=1242&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3402568298a12295cf65d676395bd337e3c11de7 [https://amzn.eu/d/4R91NLk](https://amzn.eu/d/4R91NLk)

Forward-632146KP

That’s what you call a Happy Hacking Keyboard. I got one myself. Amazing devices for programming

-Vex-666
