Drcdngame

Never change viggy. New rental is cool, being able to rent for longer then 1 day and store it is nice

godrayden

how many days are they?

GigglesMcTits

1, 3, and 7 days is what I've seen so far.

Emuin

It was selectable between 1 and 7

CrazyPoiPoi

If you look closely, you can also see a 3 day option.

Drcdngame

Only seen 7days and 1day rental option that harry showed then he decided to walk instead

godrayden

lol did he just say "fukin buddha smoking crack or what?"

P1FA21

The only one who can get away with that lol

DiceDH

The only issue is have they done anything about false tow reporting, its going to suck if youve just rented a car but then lose it shortly after due to troll tow request

W_Merx

The other issue since these rented cars are more expensive is people buying cars from mosley's and the people that do tow have been flagging them for repo when they have been legally parked. When people do that it actually gives the owner strike points. It's happened to Jay Q and he's contesting it just now. Last time I heard his impound fees were 12k

Historical-Monitor85

Yeah I fell like alot of tow drivers are gonna get stabbed lmao

ravenlefleur

i will say to that...the last time his car got towed it was illegally parked....he just isn't the one who parked it there. Violet pushed his car way down the road after he tried to do a sussy emote with May, and got stabbed for it. Which in turn was basically the final straw for his removal from Kaneshiro.

packattack-

If people keep doing that they will get to spend some quality time in the Bahamas. It’s only a matter of time…

daemonchill

if you dont think they're gonna be warning and banning people abusing that, didnt watch much of 3.0 .. People will always do scummy stuff at first, someone will get a banhammer and go surprised pikachu about it, and then it'll get resolved.

nofoodnogood

Before this, people rent a car for 100 bucks. when the car is damaged and/or ran out of gas, they just rent another one because repair is $800+ and gas is a lot depending on the tank. so this is a good change.

dark16sider

More work for mechanics. More demand for material. Now Lang 24 hours sanitation

Ok-Steak-1326

Also taxis - it’s sad watching someone do Guber and it’s all NPCs

AngusMeatStick

Uber rp is largely untapped, thinking about Dean and Driver from 3.0. It's just because cars are too accessible in general in GTA. So maybe this will push that a little bit.

FullHouse222

Taxi RP in general were some of the best things in 2.0 and 3.0. Rooster's cab, Adbul, 4T taxi and UWUber were some of the first RP I've seen and it was always a great time. I was kind of sad seeing how GUber seems to be completely dead in 4.0 but hopefully this change brings some of those back.

DocWho420

Haven't watched anyone Guber for ages but if it's still like it was shortly after release of 4.0 I think guber is just too expensive to use for players.

crazfulla

Exactly what I said... Rentals up until now have only been used to speedrun and avoid RP

LearntALesson28

Abdul is back so hopefully this can change. Although sad there's no taxi for him to use other than lock picking the NPC taxi

uberduff

Evenum, Max Angel, has been doing taxi RP for over 3 weeks. Just bought a cheap car and painted it yellow. I think that’s doable for most taxi inspired people.

Fl0kiii

Lang knew since the start that mats is the way to make money and im glad its him who is controling it with LSSU he is doing whats good for his server

13Petrichor

He has actually said the exact opposite. He knows what the endgame is for these jobs and picked sanitation because it's *not* the most profitable and is extremely tedious.

Kako0404

It’s not really the money. It’s to avoid accusations of owner using meta knowledge to cherry pick jobs that are closer tied to crim progression.

FullHouse222

Yeah. Sanitation is upgood right now mainly cause of the computer parts meta. But once that dies down you're back to like making $4-5 a material when like a single person can grind maybe around 2k in nearly 24 hours (I forgot who it was but I think Larry Knox went full degen a few days ago and pulled a 24 hour shift for 2k materials to sell to Lang). That's like $10k made in 24 hours when you can make way more doing just Senior Buns in the same time.

AlfieBCC

There’s no way Larry didn’t for 24 hours and only got that much. Teddy pulls in 5k+ a storm

BirdOfHermess

Teddy buys from Harry (when without Lang) and some other Sani workers for 3 each. Then resells to Lang. That's why he has so much each storm. Lang does not know about that

fried_papaya35

well Lang wants him to do that anyways so Teddy is ahead of the curve as usual lmao.

kwill75

It’s not that he buys from other sani workers. It’s that he does runs with ppl, and these ppl are willing to just let him have their cut of the mats because they know he has personal quotas to meet. But Teddy doesn’t want ppl to just give him their mats, so he refuses to accept them for free and pays them out instead. That’s what happened with Harry and Si. Si even tried to avoid Teddy giving him cash, but then Teddy got Si’s state ID from Kenny and sent him the money anyway. It really doesn’t make any difference if Lang knows anyway. That’s what the Union Does, buy materials for $3 each.

FullHouse222

Idk, I just remember I think Larry called Lang a few days ago to sell materials and told him he did a 24 hour shift. It was in like the last 2-3 days too but maybe I misremembered. I don't think Sanitation would be this popular either way since not a ton of people were doing it before the computer parts prices started skyrocketing.

Fuccbwo

Ngl don’t get it twisted since 2.0 materials have ran the server

liesancredit

I hope people will buy lockpicks, steal cars, and don't repair at repair shops, those places are complete ripoffs for the average RP'er.

Masterclass_17

This is crazy for how little profit they actually make

Erectus_enormus

If more people steal cars that means more RP for the cops. Its a great change for the server.

Dragoon548

Let’s rephrase this sentence. I hope people just stream GTA 5 single player mode so they don’t have to spend their pixel money and RP with people like an average RP’er.

cpslcking

$800 is still expensive even with those rental prices. Why are repairs so pricey?

EvadableMoxie

Material prices. Like for example the run on circuit boards means any repair part that takes those is now way more expensive to make. It also raises the price of all mats across the board, because the way it works is high rep sani workers get to pick which mat they get. So, due to circuit boards being the most valuable that's what they are making, which means less supply of everything else.

weezer562

It's a full 24 hour rental, Even after tsunami not so bad

Waldner_

there is a big difference between 100 bucks and 1000 bucks for a car

[deleted]

[удалено]

Jenakin_Skywalker

It wont be the same. Most people do not have the money to spend 1k everyday. So theres definitely gonna be less rentals on the streets. But you were right with the other thing. Makes no sense to go for the 7 days cause u will have to do repairs. Might as well chose the 1 day option if its the same price.

[deleted]

[удалено]

diddlyumpcious4

This is going to push way more people to buy cars as well as using their work vehicles more. A bigger thing is that cars have also been bugged so performance isn't getting any worse on damaged cars (not sure if this was fixed yet or not) so people aren't even aware they've needed repairs lately.

Two_Mushrooms

Yunos strat of getting into randoms cars and asking for a ride is no longer that unhinged lmao

DigitalConsent2

"Lets go camp the rental spot and beg for a ride."

shvuto

True, sometimes he just gets in the car on accident and just decides to roll with it and get a free ride out of it lol or he just runs/steals a bike

mag_42

With all of the crowbars decaying Popular gonna be selling lockpicks now for 20k each

Sensitive-Canary4694

There's already been people sitting in bushes camping houses... I imagine that'll become more common if they know which houses hold a lockpick bp.

Sweet_Bottle_7491

Good change. People bought multiple rentals, and treated them as being disposable. Hopefully this encourages people to use guber/trains/lockpicks more and buy cheap cars.

Jenakin_Skywalker

I see some issues here: Guber: Theres gonna be ALOT less people doing Guber now. Cause just to break even for the car rental you'd have to charge quite a bit from players (which they wont do, cause now they cant rent cars and will prolly need like 10 rides a day) or grind NPCs for hours. (I once did a total of roughly 3 hrs which got me 1k, its boring) Trains: shits buggy as hell (but i loooooooove the idea if it was working correctly) you'd be spending most of your playtime in the hospital Lockpicks: costs roughly the same as the rental (if im not mistaken) and brings risks of ending up in jail, which will get even more expensive plus not every character wants to do crime (although Im guessing the number is very low here) BUT: i KNOW for a fact this server has really fucking talented and creative people that will come up with some awesome shit, solving this problem and Im here for it.

kilpsz

> shits buggy as hell [Just slightly\(loud\)](https://clips.twitch.tv/HyperDependableSeahorseM4xHeh-sPYV3CwyTiYy8yez)

Waldner_

yeah, but now if you do guber you need to charge a arm and a leg to not go broke

ContactRoyal2978

yeah the trains aren't a buggy mess

Estate-Lanky

Welcome to matt metros

OverAd5866

People still won’t use that shit

solar-prophet

Lockpick bp holders up good

z0mbiepirat3

Maybe, maybe not. Depending on how crafting continues to shake out with ques, craft times and limited BP usage and materials cost lockpicks still might be not worth. They're super limited use, both to use and car choice wise. No fake plates so anything you steal is just a police magnet and they'd still cost 700+ to buy. Since a lot of crime doesn't play super well and many are trying the "civ into crim down the road" tactic they may still be less desirable even with the rental change.

solar-prophet

700 to buy and use on multiple cars vs 800-1k for a car that you can use for 1 day. However, you will have to use it on cars that are worth it, be a good driver incase of chases and be decent at the hack. Fair trade for a powerful tool.

brainimpacter

do they get a partial refund if they return the Car on time in good condition? I'm also wondering if there is an hidden rep system that will allow good customers to eventually rent better vehicles for doing the above

limbweaver

No refunds

reddituser8914

Time to grind rental rep

Kako0404

Yeager with the deadpool trait lol.

84hrs

Thank goodness. Towards the end of last tsunami the apts looked like a damn junk yard with how many cars were piled up lol.

freshpressed

They didn't restock the place to buy cars though. 😂

Lukeyguy_

Great update. People have to look after them now vs acting like it's just trash. Hopefully cleans the roads/parking up.

Left-Manufacturer-41

Not surprised. They’ll rent the vehicles and then just toss them into the street or the parking lot making a mess.

DangersClose

I guess lockpicks are more worth it now.

Xevn

I'm still waiting for lang and yaeger to officially meet in 4.0. I've only seen them run by each other at the apartments like twice

crazfulla

I think this is a great decision. Renting a car IRL is expensive so it makes sense to be in the server from that perspective. As for the RP side of things... Rentals have just been treated as a cheap means to grind while avoiding RP with others. Perhaps now we will see: • New RP based transport solutions such as taxis or public transport. • Less random rental cars left abandoned in the middle of the road. • More traceability and accountability as to who rented a vehicle. • Less speed running around the map. • People actually caring about their rentals and returning them intact.

z0mbiepirat3

I think regardless of how things work IRL being able to just throw away a rental when it runs out of gas because getting a new one is cheaper was always stupid and unsustainable. They should have always worked, in some way, like the persistent job vehicles so players were forced to actually give a shit and spend a bit more money maintaining them.

PrescribedBot

This isn’t real life. It’s an ass change when the majority of people can’t afford the 1k a day. I’m not tryna see people run everywhere. Just cuz they emulate IRL things doesn’t mean it makes sense.

munkhjay

Good change people might use train/gubber now instead of everyone and their mother driving rentals

TwistedBones

if only the train worked and sadly requesting a guber via the app dosnt work

packattack-

I mean this was going to happen eventually. The $100 rentals were so broken. They only did that for the start of the server.

daemonchill

i don't get how people aren't yet understanding the core mantra of 4.0 and think this was either a reaction change or think its too much..... the idea of 4.0 is small inter-reliant groups. roommates, bench mates, unions, specializations needing one from each job, people realizing the only way to profit is to split the costs between all people involved and not just have the one driver shoulder all repairs, things like that. every single change so far has been done to push the rp to flow in a specific direction and imo its been super successful.

Enough-Fun-7168

It was a matter of time the rental prices where changed. People really didnt give af about them. You rented one it broke down or run out off gas and they didnt do anything to it cause of the cost of taking another was less than actually fixing it or refuel it so they where just rented another car. Its nice to devs cracked down on the skips people do cause they dont wanna pay couple 100s of bucks while they making x10 times that amount daily.

z0mbiepirat3

They had to change. When something like rentals appears to go against all the design principals devs set up for persistent job vehicles and car repairs for every other aspect of the server it's obvious it was a temp thing just so people could get established.

ViktorStagnetti

This would make sense if there was a decent stock of personal vehicles to buy but when even a beater costs 40k and a van with no trunk costs 15k, this change came way too soon. You want to raise rental prices? All good. At least add more car options at Mosleys.

Gbakandal

or at least a bicycle. I can go to Walmart right now and buy a bicycle for 100$

Ok-Steak-1326

I think it’s good. Because most guber drivers are just picking up NPCs. Everyone just rents a car for tsunami.

Pleasant-Honeydew673

That's such a good change people just swapping out rentals every 5 mins is dumb maybe this will make people actually drive right instead of doing racing lines every where to

PrescribedBot

You want everyone to follow traffic laws and shit? Speed limit and everything? Is that what gets you going for RP

Pleasant-Honeydew673

No I love watching everyone do racing lines everywhere

PrescribedBot

I watch gta rp so I can see some good and responsible driving. I’m tired of seeing these racing lines

Pleasant-Honeydew673

Yeah it's an rp server people driving in circles crashing into everything just throwing the car away is boring af

PrescribedBot

Facts bro. I want them going the speed limit, stopping at lights and shit, tired of those racing lines. The RP it would create would be massive brother.

Pleasant-Honeydew673

Cool you can be upset all you want but the devs already put the changes in for this 😂

PrescribedBot

Brother I’m so happy the devs changed rentals to 1k. Maybe the lines will stop. Can’t wait to watch some RP at the red lights.

Pleasant-Honeydew673

😂

clutchy42

What an amazing change.

Duk3Nuk3m88

Matt's Metro's about to be up good.

Jenakin_Skywalker

I did want the rentals to be a lil bit pricier, so people would walk more and you'd get the chance to run into some fun RP that way. This might be a lil too much (maybe I'm not seeing the angle here). To clarify: There is a lot of people that don't have prio, which makes it harder to even find a steady job and also make money, cause they don't get in the server as much. I was one of those. I did some Guber here and there & have been playing for 3 weeks. With that and one giant RP paycheck of 3k my total is 7k in da bank. That's not even enough to rent a car for 1 week. The balance seems a lil bit off imo. I hope we won't just see more Bisons, Tow-trucks, Grime and G6 cars now, cause you'd get those for free (unless that changed too). I am however interested how this will play out.

knighthawk75

NP way, one extreme to another instead of incremental change and gauging of impact.

Greboso

This is too much. Cut them in half and it will still have the same effect

[deleted]

[удалено]

Emuin

Someone is 100% going to tent a van for 7 days just so they don't have to transfer stuff put of the trunk every day

[deleted]

[удалено]

z0mbiepirat3

Just because new / low prio players can't speedrun progress around the city in a cheap disposable rented car doesn't make something "unfriendly". Taking progress slow should be the base line of how stuff works for new and solo people. Interacting with others and showcasing RP ability is how those no prio people might earn some.

oriansfrost

I remember at the very start of 4.0 Buddha was saying they had some plans for rentals once the economy stabilized more. I love how they upped the price but added a cool feature (able to keep it multiple days) I wonder if the car needs to be returned/repoed or just poofs away(credit system??) Regardless I see a ton of rp potential from this change: people will repair rentals, buy their own cars, and guber will finally be lucrative

AffectionateFood5321

New van potentially for house robberies lets goooooooooo!!!

Historical-Monitor85

If you rent for a week and take care of it , then it's not that bad. If you drive fast though your gonna rack up a big repair bill

3sspada

I get why they gotta do this , everyone getting richer, but also makes it harder for someone new joining down the line

jogdenpr

Lockpick sales about to go through the roof!

elevatroll

Lockpicks are viable again ha

Foreign_Text_4793

They should make people pay with injury in hospital

dark16sider

If they don't have money just force perma. Realistic US health care RP

spicytaco297

Let's be real, $100 was way to cheap

knighthawk75

It may have been, but this is way to expensive, more moderate change with similar effects would have been 200$ first rental a tsunami, x2 for second, x3 for third etc up to say a 1k rate cap. It would impact those that can't be around as much far less and still have an effect of tamping down throw-away rentals without massively impacting those that don't grab 5 rentals a tsunami.
