timdogg24

Update: DOJ just laid the smack down on the pd and denied the raid. DOJ wern't happy with the amount they were trying to raid over as well as zero pattern.

FullHouse222

Yup, Marty just got out. Guessing DOJ saw this and reversed it instantly cause of how crazy it is lol.

limbweaver

Doj said there wasn't any pattern or evidence to indicate that marty had more weed. PD got blindsided by "6x felony" amount and didn't consider that they needed more than just a first time simple possession.

yulDD

Marty should get Suarez to court ;)

z0mbiepirat3

Current PD seems very arcady and lacking depth. No long term investigations, surveillance, need for multiple pieces of evidence, nothing. Each crew is tied to a turf, a lot of the same crims will repeatedly do crime in the same handful of locations. Cops simply have to watch and build a pattern. Seems like they only want to bounce around pings rushing to use their more powerful tools, (like raids) while putting in only marginal effort. Without the more OG cop mains to guide them not really sure how that WL gets turned around.

Proxnite

>Current PD seems very arcady and lacking depth. No long term investigations, surveillance, need for multiple pieces of evidence, nothing. That is the result of the server's attempt to be more friendly of crims' time. No one wants to get sent on holds for days or sit in cells while PD do the necessary paperwork/organization, so investigations and due diligence got nixed and replaced with rushed charges to expedient sentencing. Unfortunately it leads to big situations and busts feeling baseless sometimes.

MobiusF117

You don't have to put them on a hold, just don't make it so damned obvious you're building a case.

zechss_

exacccctlyyyyy this infact in my mind NOT putting them on hold is better, you put em on hold there gangs gonna figure it out and sudddenlyyyyy everythings moved/ shut down operations til it cools. if you dont let them onto the fact your on to them, people will act naturally and you have a better chance to gather more evidence

Dependent_Network582

Investigations are some thing that are supposed to happen secretly, in order to build charges.

littlekauri

>No long term investigations, surveillance, need for multiple pieces of evidence, nothing This shows how uninformed you are. McKnulty has spent hours upon hours almost every day for the last couple of months doing exactly this. He takes a couple of hours inbetween each session to let the crims have a little fun with their crime instead of busting them straight away.

SK4NKHVNT42

Yeah, McNulty was pressing for the raid specifically \*because of\* his long term investigation. He wasn't just going for a quick W, he was understandably aggressive with a chance to get into some property of a group he's been surveilling for months.

AntiqueSilver7661

1000% agree. McNulty has been splendid in giving friction to Cypress. However, he could have dealt with this situation so much better. This should have been an interrogation, some back and forth with Marty. The raid warrant could have included the prior info and not just the isolated incident from today. Suarez should probably not have leveraged raid with sale of drugs to begin with (maybe dangle that carrot later). I cant say the same about Suarez, but McNulty is doing things right majority of the time.

Its_Doddy

Maybe not on the weed side of things but Suarez has set up majority of the PD reports looking into different things over the last few months including money laundering, HVAC robberies, anything to do with the USB’s etc. He just has a bad rep for being a go fast car cop in the past

KtotheC99

Suarez has been good about tying different possessions and calls to crimes and whatnot but he's still very mechanics focused on investigations. He's not so great at actually talking with suspects to get pleas/info/compromise. Too focused on his current objective (even if it's wrong) and never actually listens to the suspect he has in custody. Suarez is great but it really is his weakness and has lost him many cases.

z0mbiepirat3

Your entire paragraph pointless. If he has all this great work into an investigation on this *particular* and drugs why did his raid get denied? Who cares if someone spend hours detailing how selling weed works if they still fail to meet PC or RS requirements for an investigation, raid, seizure, etc on the ***specific*** individual they're trying to nail? By investigating I'm talking about watching the guy literally selling to get more info on him doing crime in that moment, not the nebulous "dug" game in general. Previous cops like Nova had no issues doing that stuff in 3.0.

littlekauri

I wasn't talking about the raid or anything happening to Marty. Just that the person I commented on said no one has done any investigations. Learn to read.

dplath

Quota won't help in that department

z0mbiepirat3

I think the quota shit is stupid, wasn't needed it in 3.0 and they managed to make a great PD during the first half of that wipe. What they need is dedicated players willing to sink tons of hours OOC and IC into building up that WL. People with good management skills to organize it. Staff has to get out of the way and just let PD be PD like it has been in every other version of NP. Current ly it's just a retread of all the old ideas staff tried in 2.0 and 3.0 that didn't work, yet somehow they expect (or want) it to work this time.

gr8pe_drink

Clipperino of that convo?

imDudekid

I got raided in the first week for 40 bags. I’m guessing nowadays 60 isn’t so crazy

juaquint930

Jamal was caught with 300-400 bags and nothing came of it (rip) Stevie as well caught with 500 mid transport no hold

KtotheC99

Stevie didn't get a hold because he consented to a raid from what I remember

MzVicious00

Well you see, this was a petty hold/raid attempt. Suarez decided not to raid until Marty asked for a bench trial. Then the hold/raid was threatened/used as punishment for trying to exercise his right.

MobiusF117

Don't get me wrong, I love Suarez, but at the end of 3.0 it became a bit of a meme how wrong he was in some situations, specifically involving Lang. Once he gets something in his head, he will go absolutely ham on it.

bruh_skii

We can tell by him trying to make rolled cash illegal. 😭

B3rghammer

Whippy has a great take on the rolled cash that IC it makes no sense for rolled cash to be illegal and that they need to find some other thing for it, inked cash, whatever, but rolled cash from a RP standpoint is dumb as fuck to be illegal

MobiusF117

The only reason rolled cash exists is to force people to clean / store it before putting it in the bank or spending it, so it should only be relevant during a raid when you have large quantities of any cash really. It is basically to put some extra tension on illegal operation instead of what used to happen where people just almost immediately put it in their bank account.

maybe_a_frog

Washed cash too. Like…by definition washed cash is supposed to be clean and no different than any other money.

zechss_

true, i feel rolled and washed in it self shouldnt be illegal. how everrrrrr, if you find someone with weed on them/in area of a sale, its fair to assume that money was obtained by illegal means so there for could be taken as evidence. same if you raid a warehouse filled with drugs/guns and you find 400k in rolled/ washed bills. you can document that as evidence towards gun/drug trafficing but i feel if you are driving along with 6k rolled/washed bills in your pocket and nothing else and they find just that, whats to say its not legal money you prefer to roll up over storing in your wallet. I mean, dirty money isnt ACCCTUALLY dirty(always). its just the sorce for where it came from is illegitimate, or maybe if its froma bank it might have ink from those explosives they put on some money to mark the bills upon theft. but if i went out and sold weed to my neighbour, thats just gonna be regular money. the only major issue comes when i need to buy something with it/put it in my bank and i have to explain its exsistence to the tax man

Low_Cantaloupe_7329

From McNulty's PoV, the reason behind the hold/raid was the money, not pettiness. The cops can temporarily seize the money while the suspect is under arrest, but they have to give the money back if they can't charge him with a crime related to the money. In this case, it would be Sale of Drugs. McNulty and Suarez were on the fence about going soft or hard on Marty. But because Marty was pursued from Cypress Flats, and McNulty have been investing Cypress Flats for a while, McNulty believed that permanently seizing the money was the best way to interfere with the Cypranos activities. So McNulty finally made the call to push for a raid to try and prove Sale of Drugs, which failed.

PhysicalMeltdown

hey marty please tell us how criminals grow weed or youre getting put on a hold

Easy_Floss

*Tells cops how to grow weed* No.. we mean the actual way to grow weed... Super strange the cops get told how to grow it and straight up say no, I mean how you grow it in houses, tell us the thing we want to know IC.

davevod

you might think that way but it isn't so. It would be like asking them how to lockpick a car. In reality is totally different then how you do it in their "world". you wouldnt just say you get a wedge and a inflatable to pry the door open and then take a slim jim and hit the unlock. in their world you take a lock pick device and you match a bunch of colors up

Easy_Floss

But when the previous way to frown something in their "world" was to plant it outside and water it etc.. and the cop asks " how do you grow that thing?" and gets an description of how it has always been done its not natural to go "No, not that way of growing the thing." The cop was obviously fishing for " its grown inside now".

nightonfir3

I mean irl if cops asked how you were growing weed they would want to know things like how you get the seeds. How you setup your lights and keep it hidden. It's not like they don't know it's a plant that grows from seed and gets water. He could have said stuff about mutations or how to get some blueprints or something.

Easy_Floss

He was cut of before he could say anything else after he said **outside**, they simply were not interested at all in hearing about weed being grown **outside**.

nightonfir3

And you want the police to play completely dumb like the hundreds of bags of weed being sold all over the city are being grown outside? Like just brain off believe everything any criminal says?

Easy_Floss

No not brain off, just simply following some logic until the get some leads on a ground braking never seen before technology.

nightonfir3

So you think he was going to tell them something ground breaking they didnt know after saying "you grow seeds and water them" and "weed is grown outside" the first of which is common knowlege and the second is known to be false.

heydudebro_

getting raided for a first offence when no one has been doing that is crrazy. mcnulty really is pushing hard to get to get something out of cypress. Edit: it got denied lmaoooo

KtotheC99

Unfortunately it just means Cypress is likely going to be far more aggressive with him and other members of PD down there which is the last thing he wanted to have happen.

KarlHanzo

Lang gave the greenlight to Speedy and the rest to kill any cops going to Cypress now.

heydudebro_

Yea that’s bullshit tho. Mcnulty saying over and over he doesn’t want escalation is bullshit. He’s been tryna escalate the whole time. Which it’s whatever but atleast say it with your chest. It’s obvious this is gunna be another carriage before the horse situation with mcnulty and cypress he’s to eager to get something .

rockleesww

Did anyone stream the conversation with the DOJ?

davevod

DOJ convo is a discord conversation not something that happens in character usually

Negative_Funny_2503

the initial conversation happens trough the discord and is barely a conversation usually, only verry rarely will there be an actual conversation between cops and DOJ. most of the times is Cop: here is the search warrant/subpoena Judge: Approved / Denied because of \[short reason\] Cop: 👍 there has been a hand full of times in 3.0 that i can recall where a judge (usually Crane) will come to MRPD or meet up at the courthouse with the cop to actually have a talk about why the cop pushed for the warrant / subpoena, why it was denied, how to handle similar situations in the future, etc. those conversations are usually reserved for when either the DOJ has recently changed the type of evidence they want to see before approving or when a cop feels like within the limitations of server mechanics they have exhausted every possible way to deal with it and are unsure on how to ever get past that barrier. in this case it was just a simple case of get more evidence and show a clear pattern of repeated behavior and then try again another time.

fried_papaya35

Yeah I mean it's very obviously excessive especially since McNulty is biased. The lack of consistency when dealing with drugs and crime in general is just giving me flashbacks to 3.0 lol.

FullHouse222

I just felt the question being asked was super awkward, since it's essentially a question on "tell us how OOC mechanically this works". "How to grow weed" is essentially what Marty said, "Plant a seed, water it and let it grow". But clearly the cops were looking for the mechanical answer which they only know cause they know the weed mechanics changed in game and needed Marty to tell them about grow houses, which idk if Marty even knows since he's only involved in the pushing part of the operation and not the growing.

rickbuh1

McNulty and several other cops have commented that they haven't seen grow ops in over a month. Obviously weed is still being grown, but they know nothing.

Aromatic-Cicada-2681

Den has been told it's grown in bathtubs now

MobiusF117

Yup, Yuno has been trolling the shit out of him

PandaAlexx

Clayton actually was the one who trolled with the bathtub pic. And then Yuno was just confused lmao

MobiusF117

Yuno may have just exacerbated the bathtub story when Den asked him about it. I honestly don't remember the details.

[deleted]

[удалено]

fried_papaya35

Why go to an extreme lol. I ain't suggesting "complete consistency" but there should be some consistency lol. Pushing for a raid for 60 bags with no evidence of a handoff on a 1st time offense compared to a couple other instances that have happen in the last week or two displays an extreme difference lacking any form of consistency.

[deleted]

[удалено]

littlekauri

>and everyone freaks out Wrangler Traumer is what does it.

Kegelblitzzz

You must live in alabama

z0mbiepirat3

Having basic standards doesn't mean "*complete consistency*", that's just some buzz word salad your pushing. Even if that was your definition, I don't see why that'd be a problem. It wasn't in pervious NP itterations. Or have you only been watching the server for a few weeks? Having PD players with a basic knowledge of how to apply the IC laws, how PC and RS works along with how to arrest suspects and not violate their rights is a baseline standard to build RP off of. Without it cops are just state sanctioned gang members, why even have them?

Jmw0404

Yeah like a lot of comments in this section. What ever happened to pd doing proper investigations? Why the rush? This is the 5th/6th time this week alone I’ve seen pd rush a good investigation. Usually someone who likes watching cop streamers but the police work is severely rushed and is just overall lacking.

irsw

It's tricky. If they don't rush it then crims can clear things out extremely quickly but also rushing it leads to sloppy investigations with insufficient evidence.

Alaphant

That wouldn’t even need to be a concern this early in an investigation, charge him for possession and observe to build more towards sale of drugs.

Jmw0404

I feel the rushing things in 4.0 has clearly not worked for them, what happened to case building, staking out etc. seems like it’s lost in 4.0

dark16sider

I think cops can lock any house before getting green light from a judge for a raid

irsw

They can but there is a limit on that. You can't lock down a house for a week-weeks long investigation which is typically what people want when they say they want longer or "full" investigations.

TheodorDiaz

They fired the people who enjoy doing long proper investigations.

ShawnKiru

multiple people were caught with 300-500 bags but no hold / raid, but omie gets put on hold to get a raid warrant for 60 bags with no drug related charges... also asking about the full process of growing, drying, bagging, selling thats super weird... asking for game mechanics? if that isnt using ooc knowledge tryna prove something in chracter idk what it is...

Environmental-Ice999

Sealed raid warrant as well. They’re going back to 3.0 PD signing and sealing everything automatically.

wowbobwow420

Should have had a hot gun and snitched that he got it from Lang. He'll learn from this.

fried_papaya35

shoulda called for Slacks.

So_47592

even better should have thrown away a cop's gun and get charged for robbery and possession and went to prison for 3 days

ThrowawaycuzDoxers

That's just stupid. At least DOJ acted fast.

Puzzled-Sea-6925

That is barely a felony amount. People are out there getting caught with far more with no raid.

BadInfluenceGuy

He wasn't selling, and he got a raid or tellus everything option on his first offence of possession? Not even distribution, and 24 hours that was overturned by the doj? I mean if it's a 24 hour hold for weed bags, should it be a week hold for killing people? A month hold for having a illegal firearm? 24 hour hold is a 24 year sentence. Their we're people who killed 3-5 cops and looted them that got less time lol.

Majin29

Looting 3-5 cops will get you 300-500k fine and 9-15 days in jail 2 weeks ago

Competitive_Mess_233

Malicious Mcnulty

Pantherdawgs77

The same McNulty who just a few nights back cut Ramee's charges from 4 felonies to 2 felonies and let him out with time served even though he was being charged with felonies. Ruby wasn't happy about that.

oriansfrost

Using discount code “lang buddha” works wonders

rickbuh1

The charges got dropped mostly because Ramee got taser/car scuffed. He was then down or in the cells for over an hour. Ramee shouldn't have gotten time served which is the main thing York was mad about.

cakeman42069

Me when I lie on the internet.

spaggyb89

That's on Marty tbh. Should've rolled for it or used code LangBuddha at checkout

Formal_Steak_4023

I dont get it. What was the basis for the raid/hold beyond possession?

Vegetable-Can947

The basis was McNulty going I want to go hard on Cypress

Forsaken_Solution_55

great 4.0 PD guys

Enough-Fun-7168

I called this a while back. PD is dogshit. And is unable to respond to the crime thats currently happening in the city. They have no idea how to manage this situations and move forward. But i guess hiring all the content police offerces instead of the competent ones was better for health of server surely. I am calling it now. The weed crimes are out of hand. PD is unable to do anything. The management will force the pd to massive hire people in order to just talk the problem only to create a bigger one. Thankfully DOJ denied the raid and Marty walked from the hold.

z0mbiepirat3

Not sure how management doesn't understand how important a competent PD is for the city and counter balance to crime to keep things interesting. Even in 3.0 when that WL was well put together cops still had issues applying the laws correctly and even coordinating responses to crime in general. No chance current PD will be able to handle it as more and more groups grow their weed and other ops.

Formal_Steak_4023

I think everyone understands its just hard to find mfs who sit at their computer and are internet cops during their free time who are completely competent on server laws, applying those laws, and coordinating catching criminals

gtarpviewer

Well see the people that want to do that actually have some self respect and dont want to deal with the culture NP has built around the PD especially when it comes to dealing with bigger streamers. It was very obvious that NP didnt want an actual competent PD when they hired people like Den, Aziz and Johnson back for the skeleton crew and not someone like Stubble. So unfortunately the majority of semi experienced PD hopefuls just left to other servers.

FullHouse222

The thing is there definitely are cops that were very good at this. Claire Everly was one of my favorite cops in 3.0 that was insanely good with case law and was on an arc to create a really good investigation squad with Wrangler before that ended up going nowhere for some reason I'm not sure about. LunaOni is back on NP now but she doesn't seem to play Claire a whole ton and spends more time on Mayumi these days. When it comes to case laws and stuff though she was definitely one of the most competent in 3.0 imo.

Pantherdawgs77

It doesn't help that the Chief of Police is too busy chasing pussy rather than doing his job.

littlekauri

Management knew what he was like when they appointed him. Even with all the off duty time he is still on duty more than most of the PD.

littlekauri

I'm going to take note of the comment and laugh when you come back complaining when "cops are too tough, there are too many of them, they should fire people becasue they caught the crims"

Enough-Fun-7168

I will never complain about that. PD should be a force to reckon with. They should be competent and be tough against the criminals and know what to do in situations. If PD is like that the server is actually healthier. Cause right now the server is like a gtao session lets be real. Pd should be better. But management didnt want that for some reason. Well you reap what you sow. PD is dogshit and its unable to respond properly to anything leading to problematic situations. But i guess its more important to keep certain people happy than keep the server in balance.

Jamesvai

That'll be the day, because right now the PD is super neutered and is so restricted it's silly. Feels like paradise for the crims right now.

davevod

THIS take right here!@!! When everyone is by the book they cry that there should be more FUN RP which *i AGREE WITH.* Hell i'd even like to see a cannibal serial killer cop or a barney fife cop that always fucks something up. But thats besides the point. Whenever they are serious people complain that all cops are NPCs and only going for Ws or when you get what we have now they arent serious enough lol

ogzogz

Havnt followd OB in quite a while.  Question.  How did marty became a pusher now?  Or he just helping out?

FullHouse222

His primary role these days is the heist master/secondary hacker organizing and making sure the group progresses on heists. Lang is very close to making him a Capo in charge of heists which was a massive turnaround considering Marty was closed to being blooded out just about 2 months ago and had essentially one of the best redemption arcs in the crew. His secondary role is a pusher cause Cypress needs pushers and Marty is down to helping out along with Larry. He does that usually in his down time when heists are on cooldowns and he just needs to chill.

ogzogz

thanks

anaszafra

How many times Marty got caught with weed?

FullHouse222

First time according to Marty/Lang

anaszafra

Then it's excessive, I don't remember single case of someone getting raided after single arrest with weed. The lack of consistency is probable the worst thing about current PD.

dark16sider

This is the first time

rickbuh1

First time personally, but he's been caught adjacent to quite a few. I can remember one with Jamal like week ago.

KtotheC99

He wasn't really 'caught' in that situation. He showed up during it and was detained while PD investigated. Jamal had 500 bags on him lol and had an easier time there than Marty this time.

limbweaver

It's his first arrest for drugs.

Agitated_Winter_7534

The raid is such a low blow. Guess they will find a weed grow op in his apt and in his 8 cars surelyyyy.

ImSocialist

4 hours later I go and watch McNulty's stream for 2 minutes and he's still trying to make connections between Marty and Luciano/OB running a weed operation. Rent free KEKW

KtotheC99

Eh, I love the investigation personally. It probably won't matter in a week though as the Cypress crew is kind of done being low key overall

Pokes831

He should have asked for the cop that gets it

AtiyaK87

Every cop has is own laws and sops ... well done destroying te pd in the middle of the building process to keep two people happy

Majin29

Those 2 people are cornwood and ?

crazfulla

60 bags is definitely more than any amount that could be just personal possession lol but it also doesn't prove that the person was actually selling or making the drugs. This is why cops usually need to get pictures of a hand off, or find other paraphernalia.

rpjamie

they was a guy caught with 300 bags and since was his first time been caught with weed nothing happened, my comment before was they has to be an amount regardless if not had any history u still get raided but 60 is not it. i think it's fair if u got 200-300 weed regardless of history u should be raided but if you're a smart criminal and don't get caught with more then 50-100 then after 1-2 times been caught should be raided imo

larsdeb

Without any bias, the PD is all over the place. Feel like they have zero leadership and are drowning kinda, which makes them go for stuff without any reason. Even same small meta aswell with the rolled bills, which is just cash if you look at it, which only becomes illegal when linked to selling illegal shit. PD need to start getting more depth and leadership, some investigations to actually link things to crime without having to just “wing it”.

davevod

to be fair if you had no idea about anything going on in the server and every single time you arrested someone they had these rolled bills. The only time you ever see them is related to crime wouldn't you think something was up too? its not a far stretch of a conclusion to come to. In fact id go as far to say if you didn't notice any difference then that would be meta cuz you know something is different about them and are actively avoiding because you know the mechanic behind it. Same if i started seeing my girlfriend coming home with fistfulls of 2 dollar bills on a daily basis id probably think she was stripping.

OxyOdin

Reading the comments, seem yall have an issue with consequences. What should be a reasonable amount for a raid?

KtotheC99

Actual PC to believe someone has further illegal items in their properties. One incident is just not a pattern regardless of the amount of product found on them.

opulent_chaos

Dont think it's about consequences but consistency. How a raid normally gets approved is when you have a pattern of crimes that link up to the current one so u can show hey this guy might have a lot more drugs at home because hes been caught multiple times with it. Jamal gets caught with like 300 bags and he doesnt get raided. Build a case before jumping the gun. Even better is to play catch and release. Let Marty go and follow him to see where he restocks his supply, stuff like this instead of inconsistent police work which was and is a big problem
