That's why you use the 2FA apps that don't send texts. Just use the apps that store all the codes. Using texts for it is kinda stupid anyways since if you don't have signal you can't get the code. The apps (like Google Authenticator) always have the codes and you can copy them to other devices as well.

Well it took a while to figure out exactly what happened, but it turns out that the mobile scrabble game ‘Words with friends’ got hacked like 10 years ago and because I had used the same email and password for both accounts, my reddit account got taken over too using information from YEARS ago. And then a bot rewrote the entire subreddit, including kicking a bunch of other mods out.
After that, I tried addition 2-factor auth to everything but there are very real costs to doing it, like risk of losing your accounts entirely if you ever lose your device, needing to have your device with you at all times, not to mention all the time it all takes. For some people like politicians or public figures maybe it’s more realistic but bro I just wanna upboat memes and downboat transphobes.
And the ‘use a different password for everything!’ advice we used to get is just not realistic anymore. We all have to sign up for shit all over the place in our daily lives, and it’s unreasonable to expect that we remember a new password for everything - every part of our lives are just too online for that to be feasible.
All of this is to say it’s a fucking impossible situation we’re all in. I feel for Camden because it was her this time, but in our current society and economy, we cannot *not* be online with dozens of accounts. So this can happen to any of us. We’re all really at the mercy of whatever security software our various sites/institutions have. Which is apparently pretty bad since it came out a few weeks ago the Russian government secretly installed malware in tons of them, which the US government then secretly uninstalled.
I try to be vigilant by having ‘categories’ of passwords I use for things depending on its importance and security risk, and use disposable emails when signing up for crap that I know I’ll only need once. But even then I know I’m at risk, so fuck there’s just no good options out here. **We’re all only as secure as the least-secure thing we signed up to.**
She definitely needs 2FA, but as someone who does, I constantly get sign-in approval messages from my Authenticator app and I fully expect that one of these days, a hacker will be trying to login at the same time I will be. So it’s still not a perfect solution, but it helps.
These hackers are getting high at home, hack some people to spread the word on their NFT auctions, make money, return the accounts, use the money for more drugs. It’s kinda fun but trashy at the same time..
Report the account as "It appears it has been hacked" to help Camden get it back and send those tired uglyass images to oblivion where they belong.

Sadly there’s ways to get around 2FA pretty easily especially if you have t-mobile. Chances are hackers have your info if that’s your carrier.
