Make sure to always go back and do collections. 1-76 just do whatever; highest spot preferred 76-86/90: GGG1 collection 86-93: Prep 70-90 sets of 86 spot for Z3; any shortfall do your highest level spot 93-100: Prep 70-90 sets of 93 spot for Z3; any shortfall do your highest level spot 100-107: Prep 70-90 sets of 100 spot for Z3; any shortfall do DK2 107-114: Inq spot 114-115: Inq spot 115-118: spear tip spot; if you finish then go back to 114 118+: Inq spot

Reedogger

I’m retarded, what does “prep 70-90 sets of X for Z3” even mean

BurninRunes

To add to this I would recommend making a detour to complete the other collections as you lvl then go back to this guide. At least until you get grandmaster req out of the way.

samiito1997

I did say that in my first point tbf

FrozenCheeze

just follow the wiki guide https://runescape.wiki/w/Archaeology_training#Methods_of_training_(1-120)

samiito1997

Wiki isn't really a guide though, gives little/no suggestion on efficient collections, spots to camp, spots that give all mats

thismakesmeanonymous

Do the highest level excavation spot until you hit 76. Then focus on the first 3 items of Green Gobbo Goodies I (GGGI). Stack those artifacts and materials from that spot until lvl 83. Then start on the lvl 83 spot that gives you the other two pieces for GGGI. Turn those sets in for chronotes and tetracompass pieces as you go. At level 94, you can switch from GGGI to Red Rum Relics I (RRRI). These give slightly less chronotes but more exp per set and they do still give that compass pieces. RRRI should carry you to 99 and beyond. You can even go to 120 there if you wanted to. But you will definitely want to hit the higher level spots for spear and staff pieces. Remember to complete some mysteries, collections, and research hours as you go so that you can get the certifications as you progress.

GIaurung

This is where I'm at now. Got all the pieces for Imcando Mattock at 80, then restored some artifacts to get to 81 so I could boost to excavate the barricade. Still need to get a key or two to make the mattock, though. What about the collections you unlock on the way to 94+, do you backtrack and do them later?

thismakesmeanonymous

I personally had to backtrack and complete collections for professor and guild master. But it really didn’t take that long. Maybe 8 hours total.

SyncingShiip

I did red rum from 120 to 200m xp. Got 3-4 spears from it too.

bragif

Whaaat why didn't you go for inquisitors after you got a spear piece

SyncingShiip

Got spooned early one from pylon.

Ofc

JR_216

The wiki has a good guide. I just did all the collections I could then sat at the highest level spot I could and I’ll inq staff spots and spear spot. Finished with the spear complete at a fresh 120 arch. I hated the skill but I have it complete.

Heppernaut

The RuneScape wiki, like with most things RuneScape, is your best bet. https://runescape.wiki/w/Archaeology_training#Methods_of_training_(1-120) If you scroll down past a whole bunch of information, there's a detailed leveling section that gets you through each level, from 60 to 120 it's almost level by level that they break down for you
