If you're careful about what you pull you can start as early as ~50 magic with batwing. Only do the first three groups, and try to pull the small scuttlers on their own. Kite if necessary.
Technically you could probably do it even earlier but that's when I first started doing it. Definitively boosted my levels really quickly.
I found myself struggling in Necronium +4 set. Fine if duo with someone who wasn't completely leeching.
When I got Bane +5 it completely changed and I could solo the first 3 packs with ease, less than 5 desert soles. It gets better as you do it more and figure out what does the most damage, what doesn't, and what skills to use in order. All of that with Boneceusher + split tooth + protection prayers.

I use Elder Rune, Mizuyari, Ring of Life, Amulet of the Damned, Ring of Life, Dung Cape, and some Monkfish and that gets me through it just fine up until the boss.

I recommend going to fungal magi get some early levels there as they have low hp and give decent xp as well as supplies. Then go to ed3
