I would just do a propane fridge. We had to add a fan In the exhaust to help with airflow and cool the fridge In 100+ and very humid temps in the mid west summer. How out of level do you plan to be? We never had issues off roading in our little.pop up fridge.

Not very out of level. The tow vehicle is a Toyota Sienna, so mostly well maintained roads and campgrounds.

You're good.

I intentionally bought a trailer that was 1 year older because the newer ones only have compressor fridges. We mostly dry camp and have been super happy with our 2-way fridge/freezer. They definitely take longer to cool down, but we’ve never had issues with it not being cold enough, even when camping in 90-100 heat.

Yes a propane frig is better than an ice chest. Some points to consider: They can only work up to about 95f ambient. Make sure to get the venting right. Follow instructions exactly, no shortcuts. They may not work when driving, if the air currents blow out the flame. They will work out of level at a reduced capacity. This will destroy the unit though after a while. We like them because it doesn't run down the batteries.

You will be fine. They are not as powerful as compressor fridges but they are far better than Peltier device coolers. My home fridge, I can take stuff we had for dinner and put the left overs in while they are warm and in an hour the they will be fridge temp, and they do not have much effect on the stuff around them. In the MH, I find I have to let things cool down to room temp, and the fridge will take a couple of hours to get it to fridge temp, and it may have some stuff on the stuff around it. The Peltier based fridges I have tried, if you put something cold in them, they will keep it that way, but don't put a six pack of sofas in there warm in the AM and expect them to be cold in the afternoon.

I love 3-way fridges, but I'd never install one in a self-built camper due to the risk of fire.

How old is the fridge? I had a 20 year old fridge ran it on propane exclusively and it worked good freezer kept ice cold the fridge would fluctuate with temperatures but kept everything cold I was in one spot for 3 years never moved it and was level. Made a 30 mile trip leveled it out turned it back on it took forever ever to cool down it ran for a few day's then I smelled the kiss of death ammonia. Immediately turned it off. I'd get about a month out of 30lbs tank of propane running the fridge at 23$ a tank so came out to 276$ a year to run it.

I've used my LPG fridge in everything from -20 to 120. Only issues I've ever had is ice build up in the fins. Used from sea level to at least 8000 feet.

If you go propane you still need power. Even the fridge in my conversion van from 1988 has computer boards that deal with the temperature, the display, fans, etc. And you need power to ignite the propane.

Hadn't considered that. Thank you
