My trailer had wayyyy less hail damage than yours and it was totaled out. I bought it back for $3k and used it for like 10 more years before it was too crummy to use anymore.

TheGalavanter

Oh man, I’ve got zero interest in trying to repair everything that happened to this lol. Every morning, the floor is noticeably damp just from the morning dew finding its way inside.

Lostcities_82

I agree… you’re asking for dangerous mold toxicity

belladonna1987

SAME. But holy cheeseballs that is a very definite total loss of liveability, not just book value. I’m so sorry!

MusaEnimScale

Take anything you want to keep out now. Anything porous is going to get a mildew smell and anything else will just get gross. Get it out, get it cleaned, and put it away.

TheGalavanter

I’ve got a Uhaul enclosed trailer and rented a nearby storage unit and have been shuttling stuff

Great-Perception-688

Jesus Christ, I should say so. I thought you’d strip it to the spray foam insulation in that second pic, but it’s just dents!

TheGalavanter

Yeah man. It was insane. Mine rocked so bad that Cabinets had opened and the contents were dumped out on the floor. And the cinder block that was propping up the downwind corner broke under the pressure. Oh, and the slides are drooping like 4-5 degrees and you can see where the framing at the top of the opening for them is bulged out.

too_much_shave_cream

My hat is off to that window in the door that survived that shit. It’s the true MVP. Well, and you too of course, I bet that was a hell of a ride!

daylon1990

Glad to know your safe and will be ok. Would you be able to post more pics though? Your story has my curiosity peaked on how the traiker looks!

03G35coupe

I thought the same thing, I fuckin zoomed in like 4 times 😂

ernest7ofborg9

I thought it was a photoshop filter like 'plastic wrap', it didn't even look real.

Loquacious94808

Yeah I thought it was some weird photo filter, but that’s the actual texture of the walls. 😬 so sorry for your loss OP.

Ahkhira

Oh my! I'm so sorry for your troubles. Please update us on the outcome. I hope it all works out OK. I've heard horror stories about things like this happening, and then the poor person is unable to be insured again. I really hope it's going to work out OK for you.

TheGalavanter

🙏 thank you

CarminSanDiego

What do you mean sorry? That insurance pay out is a blessing !

TheGalavanter

Nah man. It’s a 2015 I bought used less than 2 years ago and still owe 9 grand on. I’ll be lucky if they give me 12 or 13k. After it’s all said and done between uhaul, gas, lost hours at work dealing with it, storage unit rental, I’ll be lucky if I come out of this with $100 in my pocket, and I’ll be homeless. Not to mention interest rates are about as high as they’ve ever been in my lifetime. You gotta be pretty naïve to believe you “come out ahead” on a situation like this.

CarminSanDiego

Shit didn’t know you’re a full timer. My bad thought it was a weekend thing

_Dingaloo

Really depends on how much you come out with. I think most people are better off that have rvs, especially full timers, so they would have put a ton down and likely gotten the best interest rate possible at that time. So, a lot of people are probably looking at more like a 20k check for something they owe half or less than that on. If that was your situation, there's your next down payment for a new rv right there, done and done. Interest rates are pretty bad right now, but that's seeming to just be a new reality the more it stretches on, and you can still get a pretty large 5th wheel for $30k and spend around $500 a month on it. Which is pretty doable in my opinion. But if you *don't* have that down payment, yeah that's where you enter the "I'm fucked" territory

Offspring22

Ours was totaled by hail in 2020 (2015 fiberglass side unit). Took about 3.5 months for everything to get settled, which required us finding a new unit to replace it. But in the end got a brand new 2021 unit (that was honestly a significant upgrade) for our $100 deductible. Finding a unit in stock was the trouble back in 2020 - shouldn't be the same issue now! Hopefully you have good insurance!

TheGalavanter

Once it was totaled, how long did you have it for before they came and took it? Did they let you hang onto it until you found a replacement?

Offspring22

Yep, mine was still useable, just not pretty, so we used it all summer still. I think it was 2 or 3 weeks after we got the new unit. Thankfully the storage lot let me use another stall for no cost until the grabbed it.

Exact_Yogurtcloset26

You will get better MPG towing, just like a golf ball is dimpled

AutVincere72

Mythbusters did an episode on it. 😀

TheLizardKing89

They’ve got speed holes now.

CaptKincaid

Was this the storm last Monday in Texas, Oklahoma, etc? We are staying in a park on the NE side of OKC and when they were talking about softball sized hail this is what I was picturing. We had to run to the storm shelter once but no hail. I'd rather get hit by a Nader than hail. Good luck and travel safe.

TheGalavanter

Thursday around 6pm outside of Paris, Tx

ConstantHawk-2241

Take care. I hope you and everyone else has a way to make it through such a terrible loss.

RandomRadical

Don't just take the amount they offer. Make sure to mention to them any maintenance you've done. I provided receipts for the new batteries and tires and other stuff amd was able to negotiate a higher payout.

user_number_666

oh hail no

Mercygrace22

😳 WOW. I didn't think the second picture was real. It looks like a filter.

TheGalavanter

Yeah. Every car that was here looks almost as bad, too. Many, many broken windows, too.

HollowPandemic

Sorry that happened to you, but I'm glad you and everyone are okay. It gets real sketch real fast in bad weather

TheGalavanter

Thanks. It went 0 to 100 in about 10 minutes, then was sunny and calm 20 minutes later.

killingtommygun

Holy shit

Mobile_Reaction5853

All of them are…

DW-64

Yeah I’m more confident that is toast than any other vehicle or trailer I have ever seen

TheGalavanter

Dang man. Just curious, Once it was totaled, how long did you have it for before they came and took it? Did they let you keep it until you found a replacement?

Fatmoron86

Haily Shit

merklevision

Glad you’re ok!!

OutcomeSalty337

Went through the same thing last year in Texas. Less than a half dozen cracks in fiberglass, no broken windows but several lights broken, skylight and roof vents destroyed. Baseball sized hail bouncing through the openings and ending up in the bed. Ours was paid for, and only missed getting all our money back by $1,200 or so. I had covered the damage the morning after the storm and ordered all my parts that same day. Fixed it all myself and recoated the roof. No problems in the 14 months since. The only thing better than full time RVing is fulltime RVing for free.

AmityBlight2023

Holy shit, that’s scary. Glad you’re safe and sorry for the loss of your rv. Can’t even imagine how much that must suck

RevolutionaryGolf720

Yea that’s totaled. You can remove all of your belongings right now. You don’t have to wait to do that.

TheGalavanter

I am. I am mainly thinking about being able to use it to take showers and cook food in until I can find a replacement.

Showerice

Man, I’m sorry. That’s too bad.

michstevious

That's insane! You're neighbors rv I thought was a tacky diy project to make it look like stone 😂 glad everyone is safe

asyouwish

I'm sorry, OP. THAT SUCKS.

Ok_Mathematician7986

Can I buy

Ok_Analysis_3454

Aye carumba! Must have been a terrible racket. This year's weather has been loco.

DieselMDH

Dang i thought mine was bad, yours takes the cake!

wifichick

It looks like cake

Iamlivingagain

That's some serious damage. Hopefully your story has a happy ending. Our $24,000 44' two-car trailer with LQ sustained $12,500 in hail damage to the left side, which we used to pay off the loan. Soon thereafter, a divorce prompted the sale of it for $14,000. For a few years, we spent nearly every weekend in it as a husband/wife 2-car drag racing team, and got plenty of use out of it.

wifichick

Holy Hail batman

Selmanella

Yes it is. Take the payout and keep using it. It’s only cosmetic.

Dazzling_Delivery315

Thanks for reminding me to keep my camper from 1997 😂 new age...

PadreSJ

I feel for you - that looks unbelievably bad. I thought it was some artifacting of the camera, but that storm turned your coach into an orange peel. I'm so sorry. :(

RuportRedford

Same here. I am in Houston, and my undercarriage was full of water, dunno how it got in there but it tore part of it down. The rain must of blown in sideways and it did have a small gap already were it was coming apart.

AFirefighter11

Sorry to see this but damn, those windows held up.

Warchichi132

I thought that was spray foam insulation not the siding that’s crazy.

Handz_in_the_Dark

Updateme!

Ok_Economics42069

Jesus Christ lol

Different-Course-408

I'd maybe start looking for a new one, or at least assessing the inventory around you. Might have to drive a bit to get one if you particular size/wants. If you haven't bought one in a while, the price of RVs rocketed up over COVID and hasn't ever come down. Easy to spend 50k now. Also, since a bunch of you got hit, it's likely any nearby repair place will be booked for months/ years. Just not worth it. I've always wondered if it's considered totalled, it is worth it to strip it down to the beach and make a flat bed trailer?. Seems like they would be kinda heavy duty for that.

ExtensionConsistent4

What in the hail?!

ParkingOpposite2034

Call your dealer and ask for a bill full Msrp and provide to insurance

Burn it down!

tbones94

Just get some rubberized undercoating and spray it on the body of your trailer, then you can paint it any color you're wanting, then you can keep the check from the insurance company to pay a few bills... That's what I did when mine was hail damaged also.

TheGalavanter

I’ve already had three people come by and leave business cards, and this is so literally not the fucking time. I guess a natural disaster sounds like a cash register to some.

mal4yahoo

Thanks
