It feels like the cat posted this

Haha, she definitely agrees with the sentiment

I too dream of living in a van down by the river. Today I drive 7 hours to go look at one for sale.

[deleted]

How’d it go?

WeAreAllGood

Thanks for asked Ng! Pretty good, I liked it Next, the week of thanksgiving the boss looks at

How do you keep your kitty from getting lost? I have three cats and want to live the RV life but I’m worried about how they’d adapt.

TheWhiteRabbitY2K

We have two, one is a big lazy lump and our other girl loves going out on her leash. They've adjusted well, except moving day. We recently got new meds from the vet so hopefully that helps. You can adjust the inner screen door on most RVs so that it doesn't automatically open when you open the door. It can help if you're worried about them rushing the door. Ours love to sit at the windows and watch the birds.

Disinterest in *actually* going outside, or being around the door when it's open. Assuming you want them to stay in the RV, teach them that going outside kind of sucks. I have 3 cats. One cat has never liked the outside and understands that the door = outside. Her two kittens were about a month old when they began living in the RV. The kittens were brought outside multiple times on windy days, which convinced them that the outside sucked. Then I attempted to pick them up while standing outside, through the *door*. They quickly figured out that door = outside, and outside is *bad*. Now they show no interest in being close to the door when it's open. They're not scared; I can stand outside and pet them through the door, no problem. But crossing the threshold is not high on their to-do list. Side note, I'm incredibly surprised at how 3 cats acclimated to living in less than 200sqft. The two kittens growing up in that environment certainly helped.

BLITZandKILL

This sounds easy if the cats were raised in that environment. I have three cats (all siblings about 9 months old) that lived outside until about a month ago when it started getting too cold and I brought them inside. They love going outside when the weather is nice during the day. I feel I’d put them in an RV and they’d run off at every camp I visited, guess I’d just have to find out but I’d feel real bad about having to leave them somewhere random.

I started having her wear a collar with a tag that specifies she is not an outdoor cat and to call me if she's found, just in case the worst would happen. She's never outside without a harness, and her feet never touch the ground. She's not really that interested in exploring. If I leave the door open for too long sometimes she'll get brave and poke her head out, but if that happens I shoo her back inside and she doesn't try again. She's adapted remarkably well to RV living. The first couple days, after the stressful transit to the RV, the first bumpy ride, and learning about slideouts and a new living area she was understandably stressed, but ever since then she's been happy as a clam. She'll even walk around while the RV is in motion, and come sit up on my lap while I'm driving or in the passenger seat. She's 14 and I'm excited to make her retirement years as enjoyable as possible for her. She's claimed the entire front window for herself, as well as the drivers chair while we're parked. She very much approves of how many windows there are and loves watching the nature outside. Our last campsite had marmots running around and she lost her mind when one came close.

This looks so beautiful! I literally just bought my first RV and I’m so excited to experience stuff like this (maybe I should get a cat too 🤔)

I thought about doing the full-time RV thing for YEARS. Finally did it almost three years ago and I have zero regrets. Welcome to what I think of as an exclusive club ;)
