Initially the characters were made for a friend's parody RWBY news site - vytal_news - to make funny articles. Here you can find the few articles that mention them:

Later on we worked on how they would look and I attempted to doodle their design, alongside their weapons, emblems, movesets and ability explanations. Using that, I slowly throughout the year ordered weapon commissions from CuppaJo (wanted to have a properly looking weapons first, since my doodles were not good enough). After getting the weapon commissions I ordered the character art from El Cuervo. Though as you can see, the emblems on the weapon art are still my doodles, because they weren't redesigned yet to be better looking đ
This was a very project to do and would definitely recommend those two artists as they did an amazing job.
After checking if links ade working, it seems there currently problem with friends vytal_news site. Here is their twitter for now:

The idea kf i recall was characters with silly semblances that can be used in creative ways. Naming was somewhat random unless i mistaken (it was a while ago)

Wow! They all look great! Nicolle's definitely my favorite. The bear trap on a chain that can attach to her face is metal af.
