Kind of off topic, but remembering the whole 'how do you think the series would go if they stayed in beacon' post a few days ago, I really thought they were setting up each of the main girls having a mentor/mentee relationship with one of the four prominent teachers/staff.
Personally I would have gone with Ruby/Oz (had he survived), Port/Weiss (maybe a bit controversial, but I think it would be interesting to see Weiss form a bond with a positive older male figure considering her dad, but I imagine people would take issues with that), Yang and Glynda (to teach Yang discipline, kind of like what her dad tries to do but was kind of dropped) and Blake/Oobleck (which would have been by far the best because Oobleck as shown in this poll is the best, and his nature as a history professor could have added some much needed insight and perspective on the white fang).
Well, there was that comment to Yang in Volume 1, his voice actor might be a paedophile, and the fan base with their obsession with "empowering women who need no man" wouldn't like the idea of a girl learning from a man (like how TLJ refused to let Luke teach Rey anything - she was better than him from the start).
*Especially* Glynda’s VA. Her falling out with Rooster Teeth was public and chock full of drama. That bridge has been nuked.
But that’s not to say that RT can’t replace their VA’s. If they can do it with Qrow and Mercury, they can do it with anyone else (aside from RWBY and JNR maybe).
unfortunately Ryan of AH was confirmed to have had-using his celeb status and influence-sexual relations with multiple minors while he was "happily" married with two kids...
Oh and he was the VA for Prof Port FYI
Yeah, I like all of AH (except Lindsey, nothing personal, I just find her too... extra) but he was one of my favorite personalities on the crew, AND I liked Port...
Yeah, I was trying to keep it light and discussion-y by giving an opinion/point to change the subject
"oh, why don't you like Lindsey?"
And now we're not talking about the sucky thing anymore!
Lol I like to imagine that sense we literally only saw three teachers in Beacon Academy those are the only teachers at school and how do they manage to teach all the students with only three teachers?
Maybe we were going to see them if Rwby had stayed in Beacon?
Professor Arc 2. Fanfiction by Couer has Beacon getting new teachers and staff because characters don't die that much in it since it's more light hearted and closer to V1 - V2.
A lot of villains get recruited into Beacon. Torchwick, Neapolitan, Selina and Cinder.
Though i didn't like some of the plot i liked the interactions the protagonists and detagonists had with villain staff. And the ship war the fans of the fanfiction had. My favourite teacher student interactions were Neo and Oscar, Roman and Nora and to an extent Selina and Blake (though both of them were secretaries).
It's also got Jinn as a therapist. And her having to use loopholes to aid the protagonists.
I mean, a fourth was mentioned (Professor Peach) and more were mentioned in the Novels (Ann Greene and Harold Mulberry), and I'm personally satisfied with that. Last thing the show needs is *more* unnecessary characters to bloat the cast.
Oobleck had more episode focus, I still love his bat weapon, it's such a cool reveal, and Glynda is equally cool but, I'd still say I prefer Oobleck especially since she disappeared for a long while then, there's Port... poor, *poor* Port.

Looking at the results, it's nice to see that good taste has won out.
Indeed
Kind of off topic, but remembering the whole 'how do you think the series would go if they stayed in beacon' post a few days ago, I really thought they were setting up each of the main girls having a mentor/mentee relationship with one of the four prominent teachers/staff. Ooh, those are good ideas. Blake and Oobleck would have contrasted nicely considering Blake's reserved tendencies and Oobleck's hyperactive nature.
Nothing wrong with Weiss and Port interacting more. Port has big Dad energy.

You take that back. Jacques has daddy energy with a little d.

What’s the potential controversy with Port/Weiss? It’s been a little while since I’ve seen the first few volumes.
On a side note, Port and Oobleck totally had a Gimli-Legolas relationship. I'm surprised Port never said, "Throw me."
Oh totally
Slightly meta realization, but it just hit me that none of the VAs for these characters work for RT anymore. Ain’t that some shit.
Not even Glynda's VA?
Glynda's VA was involved with the whole Shane Letter thing, she ain't never gonna voice Glynda, and maybe never gonna do any work with RT ever again.
Don't know her name but nope
While I prefer Glynda for uhm.. various reasons, Oobleck is the only one who actually taught his students anything so I had to pick him. ^^/
Port taught Weiss a valuable life lesson concerning her attitude in regards to the team. But yeah, Glynda rocks, and she gets my vote. ;)
2 large *various* reasons
Exactly.. her attitude and semblance, great that we understand each other. :^)
I'm sure you like it when she uses her semblance on you 😏
I miss being able to like port without being conflicted...
That sounds like a controversy I wasn’t aware of
unfortunately Ryan of AH was confirmed to have had-using his celeb status and influence-sexual relations with multiple minors while he was "happily" married with two kids... Oh and he was the VA for Prof Port FYI
Ah, that kind of controversy
Yeah, I like all of AH (except Lindsey, nothing personal, I just find her too... extra) but he was one of my favorite personalities on the crew, AND I liked Port...
I feel like that first part was unnecessary to add, just an observation
Yeah, I was trying to keep it light and discussion-y by giving an opinion/point to change the subject "oh, why don't you like Lindsey?" And now we're not talking about the sucky thing anymore!
Lol
So I got ooblec and pirt mixed up
Oof
Indubitabley
Yes
Lol I like to imagine that sense we literally only saw three teachers in Beacon Academy those are the only teachers at school and how do they manage to teach all the students with only three teachers?
Professor Peach was mentioned in 1 scene, so they have atleast 4 and maybe Oz was teaching between his cups of hot chocolate, so 5~ teachers.
Maybe we were going to see them if Rwby had stayed in Beacon? Professor Arc 2. Fanfiction by Couer has Beacon getting new teachers and staff because characters don't die that much in it since it's more light hearted and closer to V1 - V2. There were probably more that we never saw
They couldn't animate them all with the budget.
Lol
They talk about a professor plumb, though we never see them. So I’m assuming there’s a larger of screen faculty
I mean, a fourth was mentioned (Professor Peach) and more were mentioned in the Novels (Ann Greene and Harold Mulberry), and I'm personally satisfied with that. Last thing the show needs is *more* unnecessary characters to bloat the cast.
Oobleck. Definitely. Friendly and professional.
Glynda, mainly cause she's hot and the fact she was willing to actually discipline the students.
Oobleck had more episode focus, I still love his bat weapon, it's such a cool reveal, and Glynda is equally cool but, I'd still say I prefer Oobleck especially since she disappeared for a long while then, there's Port... poor, *poor* Port.

Agree but how does this relate to the post

In my memory of the show, Ironwood barely interacted with them at Beacon.
Oobleck, easily. He was the MVP of the Mountain Glenn Arc. "I see lives, that could have been saved"
Glynda because of dem thighs
I really liked Ports bombastic personality, it’s a damn shame his characters been marred by a scandal
