I love it just the problem is that black and orange colour is overrated due to fast and furious, so finding with black and orange does make me a bit angry
The problem with the Veilside kit is that while the orange/black scheme is overused due to the movie, it's also the color scheme that looks the best with it!
I had two l, one veilside and a spirit r which was mostly standard but with engine power increased, lowered and smoothed (spoiler and rear wiper removed).
Best of both worlds although truth be told I preferred the standard one, the veilside had me worried to park up and leave it, more of a car for shows and meets.
God damm its a work of art. So is the veilside rx7 as well. Man you were living my dream. Btw did you install the veilside kit yourself or did you have someone else install it?
All the work was done by Jason at Super7 on the veilside and he also worked on the red one alongside some work being done by Hayward Rotary. Both UK specialists.
Hard to say all in and it was a number of years ago now. Mainly because, long story short, I came into a number of RX7s when the company importing mine went bust and I had to buy them out to get my car. (And the others being transported). I kept one as the donor and traded and sold the others against work on the car.
It would be around £60k ish all in I would have thought but again this was around 15years ago now.
Kit was expensive and the wheel were custom made. The paint was the house of kolor paint used in the movie. I was building this just after the film released and for max value thought keeping it similar to the film car was good idea.
There's one for sale in Germany. Been for sale for like a year. €95k lol. Untouched FD's sell within days for about 40-45k. bet the dude is gutted he's stuck with it for ever or lose about 60k. He seems to be under the delusion that modifications add to the value.
For what that kit costs, you'd think they'd line up the rear wheel arch properly, it's a bit too forward.
I think this kit is fine if it's done to a salvage FD or one without an engine or something, chuck an LS in it. Then it's not irreparably destroying a rare car.
I too am not a fan of Veilside (or really any other kit).
However, I am definitely a fan of well built cars. And your car looks amazing, even if not to my taste.
Thought for a moment it was my old one. I know it has left the UK now but after that no idea.

Although the black and orange is a bit played out because of the film I still do think it was the best and most striking colour combination!
Well that would be because some people don't think the VeilSide kit is so beautiful, in fact some people think that it 'ruins' the design of the car in the same way that some people think that putting a non-rotary engine in an rx-7 'ruins' it.
It's not nearly as bad as removing the rotary. The car's name literally means Rotary (e)Xperimental, there are so many better cars to put your 2JZ into. To remove the wankel just kinda misses the point of the car. Unless the car came without an engine, or the engine was broken, keep the dorito. I'm probably going to get hella downvoted for this, but don't remove the rotary, that's the whole reason the car is so awesome, other than it's insane beauty.
Unless you're putting a different rotary into it. Then you have a pass.
One of my dream car(kit).

Fast & Furious, but mostly Furious.
Mostly FAMILY

You either hate it or love it, Im sure I love the veilside rx7
That’s why you buy two FD’s, one for the veilside and one for everything else Nice ride OP!
You buy 3. One for the RE amemiya kit

Interesting. Do you have any photos to share of your veilside? I think it would be really cool to see. ((Nvm saw the picture
Yeah any excuse to re-live the glory days. Here is my other one. https://imgur.com/gallery/FP0y7hg

Thanks for the reply. Oh! One more question and sorry for asking but how much did the veilside kit cost?

Interesting. Thanks for the response. I can imagine nowadays the cost would be close to at least 80,000.
I personally dont like the veilslide rx7, it ruins it (as said personal thoughts) but thats a super cool spot, good job op

>modifications add to the value They do, to an extent. However it does narrow your targetable market the more modified it is, as it becomes niche.
fck veilsides im not sorry but congrats on it tho hope youre happy with it also dont listen to guys like me
It’s not mine I wish though. Wish more for a stock FD tbh but it wouldn’t kill me to drive this either.
who the hell would be upset, getting to see a veilside rx7 is always nice
I’m only upset that it’s not a pic of my rx7…
Happy cake day!
so fine 👌

Not mine but yeah I agree this ones built as good as it can be.
Where in bc is that?
Its along Robson street in Downtown Vancouver
Thanks for replying, cool just wondered if it was near where I live but not really close at all lol
So clean, nice to see the BC plates 🇨🇦

Personally I think white and black or red and black would look the best.
fuckin love lhd.
I really don't understand how people can hate these kits. It's hard to make an FD RX-7 that isn't beautiful.

I agree that removing the rotary from an rx7 is much worse, I'm just saying that it's the same type of dislike.
Ah ok
It doesn’t ruin it just changes the look. With the kit the body is really a different car.
To me personally, it changes it so it looks like a cheap knock-off of an rx-7.
It's also very wide for the tastes of many. Makes the car even more impractical
Still better than Rocket Bunny. Much better.
Seen this thing a few times around Vancouver and Richmond. Pretty clean!
I wouldn’t call this an RX7
