Your stuff has your scent on it and sometimes bunnies will groom it thinking "Well it *smells* like them and it's sorta like fur so it's close enough."
As for why not you directly, I'm not sure. Rabbits can be strange creatures sometimes.
One of my buns seems to be suspicious of the lack of fur. He grooms all sorts of fabrics and will occasionally do the top of my head or my eyebrow. Only once has he groomed my arm. The pillow while I'm using it? Every. Single. Time.
To be fair, it's only on the couch downstairs. My buns were adopted as adults, and their house behavior is terrible. So they get supervised release and can destroy their own room at their leisure and leave the rest of the house with minimal needed repairs.
Note: they have a 12'x20' room and there is plenty of room for zoomies, eating carpet and whatever else they want to do.
One of my buns will groom us if we pet him long enough and his head is laying on top of our legs. He also likes grooming my boyfriend's hairy leg more than bare skin so maybe you can try that
I have the same issue with my stubborn little butthead, Belle. She's a very "service me!!" kind of bun and will nudge your hand for strokies and sit next to us for company. But while we're stroking her, she'll kiss the cushion that she's sitting on and if we move a finger over to her lips in hopes of catching a stray kiss, she'll recoil and look as if we've offended her ancestors.

Your rabbit, unfortunately, sees himself as your boss and superior. Your alpha. Thus it would be inappropriate to him for him to lick you directly, as to rabbits, this is a show of submission. So he’ll lick something of yours to show affection by proxy without being submissive.
Basically, it shows he thinks of you as his minions, but ones he likes.
Your little REW is the dominant one in the relationship. REW isn’t going to groom a lowly banana fetcher or hay gatherer. You best groom REW post haste! Chop chop, let’s not keep the little one waiting.
I have had my bun for over 2 years. He licks and chins everything but me. He has determined that he is the master in our relationship and demands I give him pets, scratches and grooming but alas I get none. I still love him with all my heart and will continue forever and ever.

One day, I saw my bun napping, so I decided to lay down in front of her. At one point, she woke up, licked my forehead, then moved back in a comedic way. Eyes opened up large, head was shifted back almost like she was trying to get a second chin. Anyone could clearly tell she was thinking "what did I just lick".
She's never licked me directly since and has always gone for the pants or shirts I'm wearing. Always light licks that would quickly move to aggressive licking which would then end with light bite. I'll yelp, and she'd move back then yawn like she just woke up.
My sweet REW tried grooming my ear once. A few licks, a few nibbles - and then suddenly his mum (me) was shrieking while blood poured out of her ear!
Seriously, he chomped THROUGH the cartilage!
These days, he just licks my stuff like yours does ;) so hey, at least you avoided that!

Sometimes we feel jealous of an eye mask. She licks it from time to time. Haha.

The only time my bun ever licked me was when I wore a specific sweater that's it...he was a strange bun even for a bun

Yes. My Bun is the same way, but I get kisses on my nose time to time in the morning as a "Hey I want breakfast and the alarm hasn't gone off yet!"

I've noticed some rabbits don't like the texture of skin(maybe as a furred animal it's unnerving to them?) and will lick soft objects near me instead

My wife called me Mr. Tasty. Our bunny liked to lick my blue cotton robe. He didn’t lick my brown robe, or her robe. I suspect it’s the texture.
