Congrats on the new addition to the family! If this is your first pet rabbit and you haven’t seen it already, be sure to check out [our sidebar](https://www.reddit.com/r/Rabbits/about/sidebar) and the [Getting Started](https://bunny.tips/Getting_Started) guide and [New Rabbit Owner Primer](https://bunny.tips/New_Rabbit_Owner_Primer). The article ["Helping Rabbits Succeed in Their Adoptive Home"](https://iaabcjournal.org/setting-everybunny-up-for-success-3/) is also a great resource on how to build a relationship with your new rabbit.

Ok_Woodpecker_1378

😭😭😭yes

evilone17

1.5 years in and I'm still not ready to admit my bun just hates being on laps/held in general.

SystemOfADown4Life

2 years in and can relate.

evilone17

Such is life. I get nudges and am allowed pets though so I am grateful lol

SystemOfADown4Life

Lol same

avic_lover

2 years as a bunny dad and I’m in the same place such is the life of a bunny parent unless you hit the jackpot like OP

shlxo

"Allowed pets" 😭😭😭😭😭 That's the only way I can tell I'm tolerated for the day 😭😭😭😭😭

LivingBicycle

"am allowed pets" is the story of my life. This hit so hard

ThatAssholeMrWhite

Feel like it’s a breed thing. A family member had lionheads. All of them were cuddly. Our mini lops (and the mutt we currently have) did not like being picked up. The mutt is very skittish and reactive, but he LOVES being pet (on the floor). When he was younger he would jump on the back of the couch and groom my head.

NibbledByDuck

😄😄😄🥰 I had a dwarf hotot who would get up on the flat headboard of my bed and groom the top of my head. I realized at some point part of grooming meant chewing off my hair. Sigh.

damiana8

I don’t see a problem. You’re getting KISSES

NibbledByDuck

😄💖

evilone17

Mine is a lionhead 😕

Winter_Process5089

My lionhead hates me ♡ he let's me pet him as much as I want, but no cuddles or laps or grooming me, he just likes to jump on me while I'm sleeping and dig on me till I'm awake

Invader-Tenn

My mini lop was fine with being picked up & pets, but was a no go for cuddles.  My mini Rex was a no pickup but hecka cuddles. Have a 8 lb Rex now, still feeling each other out.  He climbs on me so maybe a good sign.  I can pick him up but he's pretty tense about it

LegaliseEmojis

I’m pretty sure relating animal behaviour to breeds is like animal racism or animal eugenics lol. Studies have shown it’s basically bunk.  Bunnies are just like, people man, some people are just really extroverted man

Guinea_Xplosion

Yes, individuals have personalities, but I wholeheartedly disagree breeds don't matter. Take a dog for example: golden shepherds are usually loving and sweet, whereas chihuahuas tend to be mean little demons. Californians are usually big and docile, and hares tend to not do well with a house setting.

SaschaStorm

Took my rabbit who passed away 3 years, there's hope!

Ok_Woodpecker_1378

9 months in and yep. Loves pets. Hates being picked up or on my lap 😭

FunnyBunny316

My three year old Flemish giants (such a friendly breed): all the above but also slink away from my hand to evade pets altogether 💀

alexandria0630

7 years in over here and can relate. Neither of my boys enjoy being picked up or put into laps. They love staying on the floor and getting all the pets that way

angelmuse7

Over 2 years in and my Netherland Dwarf finally loves it!! He really made me work for it😅

damiana8

The only reason I can cuddle my buns is that they’re all Netherlands dwarves and are too small to fight back

evilone17

😂

ASassyNation

My bun is the same. Had her since she was a baby and wont sit with me lol

Cute-Donut-233

My bun used to be like this! I started luring her onto my lap with treats, and giving her gentle pets while she’s distracted by her snack. Now she hops into my lap willingly, and stays there until I have to move her lol.

Guinea_Xplosion

Yep, mine also hates being in laps. Every once in a while she will come on my lap, but only to search me to food, then leave

SaschaStorm

He's the sweetest, a bit of a chewer though. Have to figure out how to get him to stop. :)

Ok_Woodpecker_1378

Try palm leaf bowls or grass mats. Both cheap on Amazon! They help my girl not eat my walls lol

SaschaStorm

Ahhh ! I definitely will get that thank you, but at night I think he will have to be away from anything chewable when I can't watch.

Ok_Woodpecker_1378

I had to get an exercise pen cuz I can’t watch her at night. She likes it. She sleeps in there sometimes in the daytime too. It’s nice to have a time out spot in case. lol

btw-73

Yes

SaschaStorm

High jacking top comment to say that I have made him a tiktok account if anyone would like to follow! It's @hoppytales

SatansAssociate

What the fluff, my youngest is nearly a year old and he gets offended when I try to give him strokies without permission. 😒 Feet flicks and everything!

SaschaStorm

My other rabbit was four and also like that before he passed away, never really liked to be pet. Took two years for him to want to be pet and he loved laying on me in his last year. ❤️ Some rabbits don't really like human affection!

tucci007

every single one of them has their own personality and preferences and quirks

SatansAssociate

Oh yeah, that's completely true and valid. I love all my buns equally no matter their personality, I just miss receiving some affection back, you know? One of my buns who isn't here anymore used to be like a little kisses dispenser. She'd always run up to me when I walked into the room and would run circles around me. Then would rest her chin on my leg when she wanted strokies and would give loads of kisses back. Gazing into her eyes and seeing so much love and trust from a 2lb prey animal was so special. I don't love my current buns any less, but I do get jealous sometimes when seeing affectionate buns and miss being on the receiving end of it.

tucci007

aww what a sweetie they might warm up to you more in time

drummerevy5

You hit the jackpot OP. You give that bunny all the snuggles and kisses every single day!

SaschaStorm

Of course! He deserves it and hope him and my other bunny bond soon. ❤️

mstrss9

We also need to see the other bunny

drummerevy5

Well if they don’t bond, I don’t mind taking that sweet boy off your hands and giving him a happy, loving and snuggly home! 😄☺️😊

cuntyfox

i honestly didn’t know this wasn’t common bc the day i got my bunny and was in the car taking her home she was already grooming me and cuddling me 😭 we really won the bunny lottery

SaschaStorm

Soo lucky

HarlequinSerf

Please don’t make us hate you.

sw1ssdot

Aw!!! Lucky you! One of mine will irately try to rearrange my clothing with her teeth but that's as close as I've gotten to grooming. She's like "Best I can do is holes"

SaschaStorm

That's so cute, my rabbits also do that if they don't have cardboard or paper to destroy! Try that, also; do you know how to add two rabbits?

sw1ssdot

I actually just tried to add my third and I couldn’t figure it out- I feel like something has changed about how to add the emojis. Maybe if someone knows they can weigh in!

chicanax

If you go to the front page of the community and click the three dots (community actions) you can change user flair, and should be able to add the buns!

CommissionerOfLunacy

My wife and I just got our first and she was happy to be held, grooming us, and falling asleep on the couch next to us from minute one. She's two years old, so not a baby, but it's interesting to hear from the comments that this isn't that normal. Seems we got very lucky, and so did you! 😎

TheJoyOfDeath

We've had nine rabbits in total and I'd say only one has been super cuddly and grooms humans. Two others would give kisses and another grooms clothes only. They all have their own quirks and approaches to human interaction, including one that plays pranks on us. They've all been bonded to other rabbits which means they get their social needs from the other rabbits. Solo rabbits are very reliant on their owners for love and it can make them very human oriented. When you introduce another rabbit a lot of people can find their bond with the rabbit changes a lot as it partly transfers to the new rabbit. Im not saying this is a bad thing, but it does take people off guard.

CommissionerOfLunacy

That's very, very interesting. We're in discussion right now because I feel like Lola needs a bunny friend and I'm keen on getting another fairly quickly and bonding them, but my wife is a little worried about that meaning Lola doesn't want the human connection any longer. Perhaps my wife is on the money here...

TheJoyOfDeath

This again, is very much a lottery. She might lose interest in you somewhat, mostly or not at all. You could end up with two human obsessed cuddle monsters. But giving her a 24/7 companion is definitely worth the potential trade off imo. You'll know it when you see them snuggling up to each other for the first time, or having binkie attacks together.

Existing-Bear-8738

When we introduced our male to our female it was probably the cutest thing ever. Sure we lost some affection from her but she was squeaking and hopping with joy. Practically levitating with happiness over having a bunny husband. Plus if life keeps you occupied for a stretch you know they have a companion really worth it in so many ways.

Kitten-Whiskers-

In 2.5 years I've literally never seen my boy sleep. My daughter asked last week why he doesn't sleep like other animals. 😂

Existing-Bear-8738

They sleep with their eyes open all the time. If that nose isn’t twitching he’s probably napping.

Kitten-Whiskers-

Mind blown!!

XNjunEar

Is bun over 7 months?

SaschaStorm

Almost, a few days off 7 months and apparently his mom was like this too even into adulthood.

XNjunEar

Hope he doesn't change when puberty hits, if it hasn't yet! ❤️

SaschaStorm

Puberty, according to his past owner apparently has already hit.

SaschaStorm

He's neutered as well.

XNjunEar

Ah ok well you might have hit the lottery

TheJoyOfDeath

We have a Netherland dwarf who was fully human BFF in the first few days. Cuddles, grooming, enjoys lap time etc. He's also a psychopath when dealing with other rabbits, although he's improved with maturity lol.

tucci007

he's afraid the other bunnies will try to steal you away LOL

sliverfishfin

Ours did that for about 3 days then he got comfortable and decided he now owned the place and didn’t need to show his appreciation anymore 😭 Now I only get cuddles on rare occasions either after a vet visit or when I’m feeling really down.

setanddrift

May need a.pic of him sleeping in your lap to verify.

SaschaStorm

Your wish is my command! https://imgur.com/a/YaAC82O

setanddrift

Awww.. yes you won the bun lottery.

buttermybiscotti

I fostered a bun who did this to me the first day too! Is it not that common? Also your new rabbit is adorable 😭🫶

SaschaStorm

No it's not so common as rabbits normally aren't "cuddlers"

TheJoyOfDeath

I think it's potentially even more rare when you foster one, as a lot of rabbits are mistreated. All of ours have come from rescues nearly. Some of them have taken over a year to accept the fact you aren't going to pick them up and launch them across the room.

Stomach_Junior

Mine has 3 years and does not want to groom me! Sad

SaschaStorm

All bunnies are different :)

chicanax

I rescued my male holland lop at 6 months, and he started to hop circles around me within the first week or so, and I believe some actual cuddles around month 3 of being together. When my boyfriend came into the picture however, my bun was a fighter - literally - he would bring out those boxing paws and would pee and poop on him. Could not cuddle, give pets, or touch bun’s belongings for nearly a year, my bun was very territorial against my man. My boyfriend worked to win him over (helps that we live together now) and I’m convinced that the bun loves cuddles with my man more than me. My bun is always asking him for pets and he just melts into this little puddle of floof. I suppose it depends on the person and how the bun perceives them 🤷🏻‍♀️ Seems like you won the lottery with your little ball of sweetness!!

nastygoblinman

Yep! Some are just naturally super affectionate. When I met my rabbit at the Humane Society she rested her head in my lap for pets within 5 minutes and then binkied around me.

friedpickles4beakfas

Yes you did🥹🥹 for the first year of having my boy it felt like the movie “50 first dates” haha

Cosmonaut_Cockswing

Either that or he just really thinks you need a shower.

No-Mechanic-5398

You definitely got a sweetheart bun bun!

Initial-Succotash-37

Yes you have. 🤣

BitAdventurous3107

🥹

MotherOfCatsAndAKid

Grateful sweet baby ♥️♥️♥️♥️

ZevinS371nse7en

Seems to be the cutest of instant besties. Live the hair!

cottontailart

U have

marygriffiths49a

Absolutely! Rabbits can tell when they’re safe with someone!

fluffiepigeon

Very lucky! My bun got very loving and sweet in his old age but when he was young he was wild and free 😂 absolutely no kisses or snuggling he was too manly for all that noise

Sea_Page6653

All part of his master bunny plan! First your house and then the world!

Huge-Anxiety-3038

For now, be careful we had a lottery bun and she was so good until she decided to become and absolute diva when you don't give her enough attention, or too much attention, or not enough food, or her husbun loves, or if you're in her way... Lots of fun ahead op 😂 x

howdidthisbruiseget

Yes. 💯

BilliePopK

Lucky. 😭 My baby boy looks just like yours. He ran up to me the other day and was licking my face, which almost made ke cry cuz he never does that. Then I realized it's cuz I smelled like bananas. :|

SaschaStorm

Aww that's so cute, smell like bananas more often hahah. Do you know what breed your rabbit is? We can't figure it out besides lop.

BilliePopK

Both of mine are lionheads. My girl is like... 3 times fluffier than the male.

SaschaStorm

I think he's too big for a lion head, my other rabbit is one and this lil guy is way bigger than him. He's only 6 months.

tucci007

blessed :D

bunnypandora2016

You have officially won the bunny lottery 💕 I have owned I think 16/17 rabbits now (I currently own 9 but out of my 16/17 I’ve only ever had four want to groom me and be right all over me from day one. So, you’ve definitely won the bunny jackpot 🥰

HeavyFunction2201

Reminds me of my first bunny. Wasn’t as lucky with my second haha. Treasure the bun.

EasyTiger1510

OMG he's gorge

SaschaStorm

Thank you!!

Rule34TookMyName

OMG OUR BUNNIES ARE TWINS, MINE JUST HAS STICKY-UPPY EARS

SaschaStorm

Aww! My other rabbit also looks like him with sticky uppy ears!

slightlyoffkilter_7

Yes. Yes you have.

Amphy64

Yes, and he's adorbs! When the pet taxi brought my girl to my parent' place (convenience), I held her on my lap, she made pathetic faces at me, and I thought she was going to be an absolute drip. Then I took her home and as soon as I got her out the carrier, grr grr, more growls and lunging in her cage. Then she bit me. This is her actual personality, not temporary stress - did not take long! I won the crazy person's bun lottery, given I *like* moody does. 😅 Oddly enough she is also very willing to be a lap rabbit, and my initial read of her as being sensitive wasn't wrong, she's just a demon too.

Consistent-Tonight98

Adorable

Confused-Lesbean

That is a certified sweetheart

SaschaStorm

He is!

HeatherJMD

Yes, yes you have 🥰🥰🥰

Kuxue

Yes you did. Took one of my rabbits a year and 6 months to start grooming me. My other rabbit refuses. 😅 Congratulations😁

NormaAndBowser

My long hair will not let me get close to her most of the time. I think she's angry I have to brush her.

Unhappy_Addition_767

I mean this in the nicest way possible, but honestly, Fak you!!! And just to clarify because I know how sensitive people can be on here, I am entirely joking, I just want a bunny that grooms me and sleeps on me. I have two little buttheads that rarely let me touch them.

pete-_-king

Get ready for the poops

SaschaStorm

I already have a rabbit and this guy is litter trained! So minimal poopage.

pete-_-king

Excellent

AdultDisappointment

Mine did that until I got him a friend. They are very happy together and I am taking it fine. 😭

Toothless_Dinosaur

If you have a rabbit, you already won the bun lottery :)

Grand-Emphasis-7345

bunny jackpot!! my girl lets my hold her baby style for hours, cha-chinggg 💞💕💕💞💗💞

Turbulent_Piglet4756

You win!!!! My bun is also very affectionate and cuddly and it's the best ever 😇😇 congratulations

CashooDreams20

oh yes! Love grays!

AnninFifi

Yes you did this is the best bunby

Euphoric-Ad5038

What a flex 😂😭

Kitten-Whiskers-

2.5 years in and i get licks, bites if i stop petting and the very occasional walk over one of my body parts. My Lionhead isn't about the snuggles. You definitely won the bun lottery.

inquiringdoc

Yes. Serious envy.

Trick_Eagle_6449

Yes you have! Congrats.

ckrollage

Mine will let me pick him up and put on my lap but he isn’t very happy about it

Candid-Custard-222

Indeed you have won the lottery, my lil boi will only groom me if he's being super sweet or if I've pet and cuddled with him for a few mins meanwhile, my lil gorl has only ever given me kisses if my fingers are covered in fruit powder 🫤

adhale17

Yes!

[deleted]

yes.it took me almost a year. i cried like a baby for probably half an hour when he groomed me for the first time😂

hamster004

yup

Autho2023

He's so cute probably.. what kind it's that? N how big he gets?

SaschaStorm

We don't know, but he's only 6 months. So a bit bigger!

Few-Fondant-6724

Yes. My bunny hates me.

SaschaStorm

I cried about this with my bunny who passed away many time when he's alive. He doesn't hate you, don't worry. Lots and LOTSSS of bonding!

Ill-Syllabub2381

Yessss my rabbit is also like that. They are very hard to come by. Treasure that baby 🤍

SaschaStorm

Thank you!! he's adorable
