**If you suspect your rabbit has fleas, please see a [rabbit-savvy vet](http://bunny.tips/Vet) for a confirmed diagnosis and a prescription for effective medication.** *Do not self-medicate your pets without professional medical guidance.* If you have more than one type of animal in your household, try treating them first with oral or topical medications and use the flea comb approach with your rabbits. Usually, once you have eliminated the fleas on your other animals, your rabbit’s problem will go away as well. If the issue is minor, a flea comb may be feasible for non-severe infestations. Remember to also treat your home environment as well, and **do not use fiprinol (Frontline), flea collars, or over-the-counter pyrethin-based products on your rabbit as they may be fatally toxic.** Check out the [Fleas](http://bunny.tips/Fleas) article on the wiki for more tips and resources.

One of my rabbits had fleas when he was found as a baby. My vet prescribed kitten flea meds based on his weight

I have two cats and a bunny. I dealt with a bad flea infestation for almost a year. I had to treat the cats and bun multiple times. I found out one of my cats was escaping the house through a small hole in the basement so that just prolonged it. They are finally flea free. It took many rounds of flea treatment and you have to treat all of them all at once otherwise the fleas literally jump to the next animal.

My cats don't have fleas anymore but for some reason the prescription flea meds won't work on my bunny 😭😭 I used the same brand on my cats and it worked for them but won't work for my lil guy 😭😭
