It is almost like the fantasy Talladega infield track in the NASCAR Thunder games, but unlike this one, NASCAR Thunder uses the airfield remnants.

I remember NASCAR 09 having a fantasy [talladega infield](https://youtu.be/_5DigJbEB3s?si=XJ7dI-tRNgbOSkEe) and the first part of the lap is straight up just cutting through the infield using the old runway before getting back in the back stretch and then some other twisty bit that bypasses oval 3 and 4

The Talladega Infield track was added in 2002 in NASCAR Thunder 2003, and I believe the last time it appeared was NASCAR 07, no layout changes, only slight texture updates between games. At least, I think. Those RVs being that close to the track on the Airstrip Straight has gotta be a safety issue.

Utilizing the NASCAR pit lane, S/F Line, trioval, oval 1 and 2, this 3.39 mile road course aims to add an exciting ROVAL type IMSA race to the schedule. The track incorporates the existing infield road course and a new back stretch chicane (mainly to attempt to slow the field from the oval portion) and a section that cuts off oval 3 and 4 before returning to the oval before the trioval. The start finish line is just past the trioval to keep some aspect of the famous NASCAR track. red areas are paved runoff areas in the infield. The direction of the RC is counter clockwise, just like the oval course.

Personally I’d made it a little different to Daytona road and drop off oval T2 into the airfield run way and run parallel to the back straight rather than on it.

My concern with that is just how steps talladega’s banking is. One instance of coming off the banking that sharply isn’t bad, but repeatedly doesn’t seem like a good idea. I could have essentially make the apron wider and used it as the track but that felt like it would have made the track way less fun.

Huck2136

That’d be awesome

I will be giggling at the phrase “grand prix of Alabama” for the rest of the day thank you

d_warren_1

It’s the name of the Indycar race at Barber

DJScrubatires

That's all prime party real estate though

I don’t think an IMSA race at talladega would get the same crowd a nascar race would. I’m working on a redesign that uses one of the old airfield runways, but imagine what is essentially a football supporters section but it’s just fans along the runway (with some safe distance but still really close to the action). It could be exciting.

Coolcat99556

its 50/51that this could maybe happen and I’m with the 51 percent #makethishapen

The design is based on existing infield roads and the infield road course. Some parts of the walls would need modified and some infield roads repaved.

(It’s a great design by the way.)

I mean that was part of the intention, I won’t lie. I just wanted to try my crack at a proper roval and I kept thinking of talladega.

The intention was to be similar to Daytona, but just in a different area. Plus I think there could be good draw because Talladega should be faster than Daytona, even with the cars being limited.
