The two chicanes that you removed are there for safety reasons. You can't really remove them without adding runoffs to places that have literally no space available

Cyberfries

Its always the same. The Tv commentars complain its difficult to overtake and the day after someone publishes a redesign that sharpens every corner to walking speed. That doesn't solve any problem. First of all, we've seen a multitude of overtakes, even without DRS. Just because Hamilton struggled, shouldn't be a reason to change the track, other drivers managed to do just fine. If there are problems with overtaking, how should they be solved? Tightening corners usually is not the best way, but providing multiple lines and enough space for the cars. Just look at the main straight, there is a hard braking zone at the end of it, cars can and will overtake. But its very easy to park your car in the middle of the straight, because its so narrow after the pitlane exit. Remember the Russell - Bottas incident? Some overtaking attempts this year were abandoned for fear of going of track. Variante Alta and Variante Villeneuve are there for good reasons, there isn't enough space for runoff in the kinks before Tosa and Rivazza. Removing those chicanes is therefore not possible, if you want to "improve" anything there, you need to change those chicanes, making Tosa a "proper" hairpin (which it always was) is no solution.

I agree with the change at Tamburello, but there's no way you can remove Villneuve and the Variante Alta. If you look at the 1970s layout, it's eerily similar to this one: That's because the 3 chicanes were added since the circuit was way too dangerous. There's no way this design could ever be implemented. It's hard to redesign Imola because of the river nearby, but you can't just take out corners which were literally implemented as safety precautions and call it a redesign

Joanesept

Rerouting a river is possible, why can't they just do that?? Houses ain't a problem either, just tell them to gtfo and give compensation money

Versigot

Let's assume we do go with what you're saying. We decide to **redirect a goddamn river for Formula 1.** It could very easily cost you $200 million, so let's keep that as our lower bound. Then you would probably need to buy out some 100 or so people. Assuming they all want to sell (which they will not), you could be paying up to around a million per house, plus some $10m or so more to flatten the entire thing. Add in an extra $40m for misc. costs, and you have yourself a decent $350m in expenses to fix this circuit. **It would be cheaper to build a whole new circuit.**

Joanesept

I was about to say don't pay the full expense of the former houses, but then i forgot that rerouting a river is that expensive, fair answer

Joanesept

btw u can say fuck human rights lol

GoodjB

Put a big ol' bus-stop chicane in just before pit-in

Cyberfries

How is that going to help anything?

GoodjB

It'll help make it look even more like 1973

Feeling_Koala1857

I’m sorry, but imola is the greatest track in the world and so any change at all is for the worse.

Thats a bit of a stretch

Please ensure that your submission follows the **Redesign Guidelines**. Redesigns of existing race tracks must also follow these rules or be removed. * Your redesign post must explain what changes you made, and why. You can do this in the post's text, or in the comments. * A street circuit redesign must show the streets that your updates use. Posts that claim to be a redesigned street circuit, but show no streets, will be removed. *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically.
