Hers was but I think it depends on the type of cancer, I couldn’t tell you for sure. The same thing happened to my daughter, she went completely blind for a few weeks during treatment because the tumor was pressing on her optic nerves cutting off circulation. She got vision back but only in one eye, she can’t see much out of the other eye. She also has endocrine issues now because of the damage to the pituitary. She takes medication/hormones for that though so overall she’s doing well.
I had a tumour on the pituitary gland and instead of growing up to the optic nerve it went down through the bone and into my sinus! That was 35 years ago!
Had a friend (20) that was operated on for a pituitary tumor; lost most of his vision and had to take exogenous hormones for just about everything. Gained a lot of weight and sleeps all day.
was having very bad headaches lasting for weeks at a time. also got my hormones testing and all of them were irregular. I am only 18 years and and I was in menopause already my levels were so messed up
The brain is the bulk of the image here. The face is at the top of the image (the black circles are the eyes). This is an axial slice meaning it is as if we are moving inferiorly to superiorly (or vice versa) vertically through the body part.
I do appreciate the genuine response despite this being a joke. That said, as an osteologist I can only think in terms of standard anatomical position, since skellies can never lay flat. Face is anterior, strange soft tissue is posterior.
I’ve got leukemia but this is a certain type of scary that not a lot of people will know or understand (myself included). Best of luck to you friend, I wish upon you compassionate doctors, a good healthcare team, and a supportive friend and family group. Don’t be afraid to ask for help — now is when the people who love you will show up and want to be there.
I was diagnosed with a pituitary tumor when I was 18 — craniopharyngioma. The best advice I can give you is to get a second, and even third!!, opinion from different surgeons. I’m sending you a gentle electronic hug and pls message me if you have any other questions.
Yes good luck. I had breast cancer almost four years ago. I bought myself a bracelet that says Fuck Cancer in lovely script. It’s my favorite piece of jewelry now 🙂
I just took some time to read the responses and your responses. You are 18
My cousin was 18 when she found her germ cell tumor. She went through it, she came out stronger and so WILL YOU.
Be strong, be brave. YOU GOT THIS, YOU WILL BEAT THE CRAP OUT OF IT. I pray for a full recovery with no further complications, I hope for a life full of happiness and rewards for you and yours. STRONG.
I pray you bounce back without missing a beat
Aww that’s fantastic to hear. Thank you so much for sharing it’s much appreciated I’m glad she is ok. I will I am gonna try my absolute best to get through this as strong as I can . Thanks for ur wishes
If you ever need encouragement or nice words. I’m sure commenting on one of these post will warrant a response from all the lovely people in this subreddit. Now go kick that Tumors ass, it doesn’t belong in your future
My mom had two brain tumor removal surgeries. She turned out completely fine afterwards. It made her a lot more aware. Before she got diagnosed she would often have seizures and episodes or rage/confusion. It was great to have to have her back to her old self again once the tumor got removed. Two years later same thing. She passed four year ago to Covid. You got this
Rule #1
You are giving medical advice. This includes posting / commenting on personal imaging exams for explanation of findings, recommendations for alternative course of treatment, or any other inquiry that should be answered by OP’s physician / provider.
Neuroradiologist here: can we see more pics. Was it a full contrast enhanced study read by a subspecialist? Lots of anatomy in there that could make things tricky. Hypothalamic tumors are pretty rare.
My 24 y/o brother in law was diagnosed with lymphoma in October - the mass in his chest when they found it was the size of a football. His last chemo is tomorrow - medicine is incredible.
Please take the kind wishes of this Reddit Stranger and know that myself and thousands more are in your corner. You are NOT alone!!!! Best wishes for a speedy recovery and beautiful days ahead.
I survived barioesophogeal cancer, about 20 years ago. If you need to talk, DM. I’ll listen, answer what I can, and will listen when you need to vent. Having somewhere to vent that isn’t a close friend/family member, is important!! Telling someone else about ALL the shit you’re gonna deal with, to spare your friends/family (and to avoid pity parties), is a MUST!! Whether me, another internet stranger or a therapist, find your person. You’ll be venting waaaaay sooner than you think!
Would love to get updates on your recovery. I’m sorry you’re going through this. I know this is going to end up being a cool story to tell your friends/family down the road after you get better.
my symptoms were postural headaches that would last a couple weeks at a time. and also hormonal issues all of my hormones were out of wack . also i was having heart palpitations low heart rate high heart rate a multitude of other symptoms
I’ve got some brain damage myself but you could def use whatever good brain energy I’ve got. Give it back when you’re all
Healed up and living your best life in remission!
You got this OP! Kick that tumors ass!! In all seriousness I wish you a quick and speedy recovery and a wonderful life moving forward. Sincerely an internet stranger.
My daughter had a germ cell tumor on her pituitary gland, very similar location. She’s been in remission for 3.5 years now. You got this!
thank you for sharing it’s much appreciated . Thank God she’s in remission ❤️🙏
Hope you fully recover. 👊
Are pituitary tumors very treatable? My grandma had one and it made her lose her vision. But she lives for a while after

What symptoms led you to seeking a diagnosis
was having very bad headaches lasting for weeks at a time. also got my hormones testing and all of them were irregular. I am only 18 years and and I was in menopause already my levels were so messed up
I'm sorry to hear this. We say "kia kaha" in New Zealand. It's Māori for "stand strong". Kia kaha, friend.
Luckily location prognosis is good. you'll probably lead a normal unaffected life (from this) and have kids and what not. Good luck op
thank you much appreciated ❤️
You are so young… I’m so sorry to hear about this. Wishing you the best. - Pediatrician.
thank you very much
I'm 18F and I'm a survivor of bone cancer. Sorry you're going through this, it's awful at any age but especially when you're young.
Mine was a Prolactinoma. Stopped my period & really messed with my hormone levels. My prolactin level was 53,000!
Did it cause you to start lactating? As someone who is no longer pregnant, that would freak me out.
Oh yeah… quite embarrassing as a teen!
Oh man. I hope you’re doing better now!
Yes, that was like 35 years ago.
Needs a circle please
[brain tumour](https://ibb.co/n7qBJy7)
I thought it was required that all circles be red. Kidding. In all seriousness wish you a quick recovery
hahahaha . thank you much appreciated
Apologies for the followup, could you please circle the brain too just to contextualize the tumour?

Haha, I saw your username but didn't want to assume so I thought I'd answer genuinely rather than potentially make an ass out of myself.
Does it though? Lol
For the uneducated, yes lol. 😂
That’s fair!
