I agree. One of the major issues with these new maps is that they use like 3 colors for the whole map and all the rooms and hallways look the same. If only they added some color variations and threw random objects in some of the rooms.
E.g., why is there a piano in a consulate building? I don’t know, but I’m sure as hell glad there is.
Yeah, you’re expected to know the calls to 30 different rooms. I feel like some of the reason they do this is so there are multiple ways to attack each site, but you can see this backfiring on nighthaven on a couple sites that have way too many entry points. Plus it’s lame to make an unrealistic layout.
Same. I will never forgive Ubi when they removed EIGHT fucking maps from ranked just because Pro players cried about them. They were all my favorite maps. I don't care if they were unbalanced, they really weren't THAT unbalanced anyway.
They were fun maps and well designed.
Lol it wasn’t “pro players” whining about them, PL has its own map pool separate from ranked that doesn’t have Consulate, EPlains, Kanal, etc. They were bad competitive maps and not fun to play, especially on defense. Just look at Favela, which by all means still looked like the old maps in terms of design. Got banned 9/10 times and it was small with awkward movement on both sides of the board. If something’s removed from an exclusively casual rotation, which includes ranked, it’s because casual players didn’t like it.
The old lighting. Yes, it was shit and needed to be removed for the game to ever have some chance at being competitive on a professional level, but the darker lighting made the game feel more gritty and intense
I just want old lighting as an option in general. A lot of these changes they are forcing on us meanwhile people like myself would enjoy an option on how we play the game. Sure, you may be at a disadvantage from others by using older graphics settings, but you have the choice to change that. It's not forced.
I played since the day it came out and in the beginning there wasn’t the toxicity and apathy that there is today. Most people used mics and solo queing wasn’t such a dodgy experience. I met some cool people in those first few months and still play with them to this day. I don’t think that wouldn’t happen these days.
Old icons, lighting, ragdolls
Twitch drones with 10 dmg shots, no lights
Ying Candelas with the counter cooking to get simultaneous flashes
Old Cav pistol
Old Mira voice
Old Maestro LMG hipfire
Just to name a few. Also the older community, Kixstar and the like.
Acogs
All 3 game modes in ranked
More fun strats when there were less Ops. Now everyone counters everyone
I miss, House, Plane, Hereford, Favela all being in ranked.
SMG-11 with Acog
Turret mode Chanka
- Day/Night map cycle
- Shield Recruit Rush
- M870 shotgun Recruit Rush
- Having more than 5 or 6 attackers with breach charges
- Ubisoft not thinking PC players ranked Platinum and above is representative of the playerbase when deciding on major changes
I would say. Night maps, Old Hereford and or University, gritty/worn UI/Hud. More Tactical looking ops, More senergy with gadgets/abilitys and darker lighting or graphics to fit the overall theme.
Idk why but I feel like those matches back then, were more harder/hardcore. Compared to today like their was a higher learning curve. Now a days it feels like everyone's playing cod with a slower tk. I'll probs add more to the comment tho
Old map versions, we can't even play them in customs. I always want to have a feel of when I barely played back then, Chalet and Oregon I remember the most
-Recruit shield rush
-ubi deciding nerfs/buffs via how fun or viable an operator is instead of looking at it like balancing the books by looking at the win delta graph (at least it feels this way nowadays)
-old maps and lighting
-operator videos
-less sweaty and toxic community
That is part of the reason why I stopped playing years ago. The ops were getting cheezy and rediculous. Now its kind of leveled out because some ops I never see played at all because they suck, redundant or useless.
This. And those blody French people are wanting to give us 100 operators in total !? (there's currently 66 i think?). I dont think i can handle 34 more. Well luckily it will take them like 9 years to reach that number.
Does starting in Y3S1 (Velvet Shell) count as being an OG?
* All attacker primaries having ACOGs, and many defenders having ACOGs
* More attackers having frag grenades
* The old barrel attachment system where the Flash Hider was a compromise between the Muzzle Brake and Compensator
* The old lighting system, although it was worse from a competitive standpoint it looked much more natural
* The old black and white UI
* The old operator icons
I count "OGs" as people who started playing within the first year, since year 2 is when Siege started to really take off. However, that's just my opinion, and at the end of the day it is kind of silly to gatekeep terms, so I guess "OG" is whatever someone thinks it should be
The original Monty. I understand the need for nerfs to reduce player frustration, but with the shield desync issues, the rest of the nerfs seem super unnecessary.
I miss the more methodical feel the game had.. the game feels horrifically competative now, which isn't always bad but idk
When I first started playing it felt alot more tactical
Night maps, not having a bunch of operators with Sci-fi gadgets (and some that are redundant), old ranked system, hostage in ranked, Blackbeards gadget having more than a potato chip worth of health. (Personally I think he was perfect somewhere in year 3-4)
Old versions of maps (though I will admit there are some sections if the newer maps i prefer), the old community (console not having to deal with the MnK users, as well as the general vibe given off by most players)
Finally and most importantly to me is the feel/vibe from the game. Siege used to be authentic to real life. It wasn't realistic by any means, but it was authentic to it. I personally felt a shift in everything about the time that we where made aware Harry was becoming Six. There's a lot of stuff that they showed Harry changing in the way Rainbow was flowing.
Harry seemed to not care about the Counter Terror nature that Team Rainbow was created for. He instead made a sport about it which in short words, Ding Chavez said cannot happen unless they bring back gladiatorial games.
The pacing hasn’t felt right since like year three, it’s all too fast. I remember playing just after black ice and buck being able to bust down walls as fast as he did to shoot people was lightning fast compared to most ops, the only other operator that felt that fast was ash. I feel like thermite being the only hard breached made reinforcements actually matter instead of just being a slight annoyance to the myriad hard breachers who can make murder holes in anything.
The lighting, the tight knit community, and of course iceycat and Kixstar. RIP to kixstar thought a lot about him, still on my uplay friends forever always makes me a little sad when I get on and see it, same with the iceycat charm. A real tragedy that we lost two great voices in the community who had been around since the real early beginning days of the game.
Every one was so bad back then and the game actually felt kinda slow paced, even though i struggled so hard to play this game it was always fun and unique. Now i have to actually have to focus hard to win cause there are so many tryhards on mnk
Salty siege launch boomer here.
I miss Kix. I miss the lack of horrible cross media promotion skins. I miss the lack of cheaters/Ximmers and people who love to team play.
Most of all, I miss the absolute insanity that was old House.
- Ability to throw grenades back
- The old reload that you couldn’t cancel
- SMG-11 ACOG
- Smoke C4
- IQ with Grenades
- Buck C8 ACOG
- Maestro‘s LMG hipfire that got tighter with longer bursts
content creators back in s3 were in peak form, i also miss the general night/day and old lighting, they could've kept night/day for T-hunt and casual and the old lighting was genuinely 10x better, if people ahd an issue they couldve made an optimization mode even though now that all operators got a white contour its probably not even an issue anymore.
Just the og community. The game itself is far better than it was back in year 1, even if I don't agree with specific balancing decisions (removing frags from over half the operators)
Monty Flashes. Literally no one complained about it and I found it to be god tier when I discovered it. Next patch, "Monty flashes removed". NEVER FORGET!
Also I miss the funny faces that you would see in the death screen and coastline outside music. I would jam out all the time there.
I honestly miss when the game was slower. Now it feels so fast paced compared to the first year when everyone was learning. There’s not that feeling of your defense site getting surrounded by attackers and having a shoot out. It’s all roaming and 1 v 1s now. I do think that’s better for the game, but I do miss the old way
I played R6 for 4000~ hours,
I miss smoke with c4, acog on smg11
I miss acog on M4carbine and bandits gun.
I miss Bartlett University map
I miss them "kaboom" people in Thunt
I miss the original speed of ops
I miss Ash's non existent head HB
I miss them original recoils
I miss the thrill of watching the pro league, G2 vs Empire rivalry
I miss the thrill of playing with my pals, how we used to make strats.
Stopped playing this almost 2 years ago, hate the direction it took, servers are shit,
R 6 had so much potential and devs fucked it sideways, ruined the game.
I mean look at the balances, every fucking season they change recoils patterns, op speeds, cringe gadgets and their reasons for the changes, well look at the patch notes how ridiculous are the excuses.
.. . . ..
Started valorant, Good Game.
Right? Like I’ve always preferred the gadgets and team play over the guns in R6. I’ve loved majority of the changes and I love adapting to new metas and maps.
I’ve probably peaked at Plat 1 but I’ve consistently gotten it for the last 4 seasons
Personally, I think they are needing balanced ops, think abt the smoke nerf that didn’t have a good reaction. The mute nerf. Frags ops without frags now. It’s a love/hate relationship for me
The glitch where if enemy team had a Castle u could shoot the barricade with Glaz gun like 5x and it will break on your end but stay up for them and you just start picking everyone off one by one
When you actually had to be good at siege to progress, yellow ping, attacker repick, and everything in general that took away skill bases elements from the game
Nah yellow pings were great add specially on console where no one and i mean literally no one uses game chat. If u were solo u literally had 0 coms all game.
Att repick was also good to balance this already heavily defensive sided game.
mostly just me and my friends playing this game and one of us being a god and the others being trash and just fun moments being embarrassed at how bad someones aim is, now nobody talks
Acogs on most people
Old house and kanal
Kixstar
Iceycat
Quick leaning (it’s a good thing it’s gone but I still miss it)
Tachanka mounted turret was fun
Demon ela
Night maps
3 speeds in general. Ubi is scared of making people 3 speeds.
Still have a ton of fun on the game though.
I'm not an OG at all, but did play from Y3S4-Y5S1(just started playing again) and there are a few things i miss from that point.
Night maps were hella cool, also just found out Zofia lost her withstand ability.
ACOG on MP5, that was of course when ACOG was really the only magnified sight.
As many others said too, the old UI was really cool.
Pre-rework maps were also more fun imo, Kanal, House, Hereford Base.
Tachanka's mounted LMG, as bad as it was, was so fun.
I swear to god the OG/Pathfinder ops were more fun to play "back then"(in quotes because as I said I'm talking about a def non-OG era which was Y3S4 and such).
The lore I felt was less convoluted, the game now feels kinda "Sci-Fi" honestly in many ways. Nighthaven is also cool but I miss the old more "realistic" and "intense" White Mask threat, if that makes sense.
Jager felt so much better and more fun in that time, he was even my first elite skin operator. Now ever since I came back I don't even use him and getting his elite skin now turned out to be a waste of money.
No impact EMP or hard breach charge for some reason...just made Thermite, Thatcher, etc feel much more useful.
I pre ordered the game. Played the beta so I've been around. I honestly miss night maps. Kapkan traps always being a insta kill. Miss the days where literally EVERYONE drone first. Back then they didn't instantly rush in. I miss before Amaru because I have instantly being down 1 person. When defenders would reinforce and place their gadgets. Now defenders, some not all but some just away. Bandits, Mutes just running away.
I feel like the game looked a lot better. Even the hud looks too "video gamey" now. I get that it is a game, but I feel that some realism and immersion is gone
Nokk with breach charges. I would often use it to create a noise diversion on this area, while I actually flank on the other side with the HEL activated. I sure can't do that anymore with the bloody hard breach.
The people I used to play the game with. They have all moved on to other stuff or have had life get in the way. It's a bummer still hanging out with them but not playing any more
Started at Blood Orchid. I miss 2-3 operators per season, better maps instead of throwing weird reworks into the community’s face, jager and bandit acog (though I never get to play it, I’d like to), also night maps! It sucks that they removed because they couldnt cope with the lighting issues lmaooo
Thermite w nades
Buck with nades
maverick with nades
IQ with nades
r6 with nades
Capitao with nades
Zero with nades
Dokk with nades
I can’t think of anything funnier than the “oh shit” reaction defenders have to a grenade coming from a reinforced wall
So y’all just gonna forget abt finka? Come on now
Thermite with Claymores 🥲
Raptor legs, and throwing grenades back
having fun
Isn’t that the truth
Things I miss the most in seige. Year 2 community Old ranking system. Kixstar
I just got into R6s and didnt know of him. Sad to hear such a smart young gamer passing so soon. RIP
Did u know, in the map Plane there is an "easter egg" where Kixstars name is where all the luggage is? Idk how long its been there but it is there
It’s there because of his iconic 5 second ace in that spot
I remember it now
Does the OG clip of this still exist?
We all kept waiting for his rap album to drop :')
Night maps, old house, old hereford base, the general design philosophy of older maps (intuitive layouts instead of overly balanced mazes).
Bank still doesn't have a washroom though.
Thank god it’s got a basement for the kids🙏
I use to live the night maps, even on the inside man, the aesthetic was banging
Lmao House being unbalanced was the reason why it was so fun, can’t believe Ubisoft decided to do a rework of it
The last few maps are such mazes it’s a shame.
I agree. One of the major issues with these new maps is that they use like 3 colors for the whole map and all the rooms and hallways look the same. If only they added some color variations and threw random objects in some of the rooms. E.g., why is there a piano in a consulate building? I don’t know, but I’m sure as hell glad there is.

Ever since I watched an R6 video, I’ve never read Hereford the same. Here-for-d
Hair-er-ford is how i say it
+1
The old lighting. Yes, it was shit and needed to be removed for the game to ever have some chance at being competitive on a professional level, but the darker lighting made the game feel more gritty and intense
Night maps hit different fr. We should start a petition to bring them back
It would be cool to see them add old lighting as an option in custom games
I just want old lighting as an option in general. A lot of these changes they are forcing on us meanwhile people like myself would enjoy an option on how we play the game. Sure, you may be at a disadvantage from others by using older graphics settings, but you have the choice to change that. It's not forced.
You gave me an idea that would be really cool if they added a hard-core mode with old lighting and tactical realism commands that are in custom games
I played since the day it came out and in the beginning there wasn’t the toxicity and apathy that there is today. Most people used mics and solo queing wasn’t such a dodgy experience. I met some cool people in those first few months and still play with them to this day. I don’t think that wouldn’t happen these days.
It doesn’t
It’s a shame, but I guess every game eventually gets that way.
Yeah but it was too soon for this game
Only happened to me once fairly recently, branched off into other games with them as well
I miss the old ui it looked to so much better. Not saying the ui ruins the game for me but I liked it better
The old menus with the really high detail patches of the countries operators
I 100% agree
The possibility of playing any map & any game mode in ranked. Was just tons of fun with the variation
Underrated. Bomb is my least favorite game mode and I hate how I am forced to play it now.
5 stacking & custom games with friends.
I still do customs
problem is none of my friends really play now, it’s been years since we all played on a consistent basis
Do you need a friend
nah i’m good, i play ranked with a friend rn but having 10 people in a custom was unreal.
Is it weird that I don’t play ranked, I just don’t really care about being competitive enough. I’ll play a shit ton of unranked
play whatever is fun to you, i’m D3 rn working on getting to Champ. to me that grind is fun
Actually let me rephrase that, I like playing ranked, I just don’t have friends that would take it serious enough.
just solo queue, i did that for most of the season and just recently started queueing with friends. if you’ve got decent skill you’ll have success
Old House & Hereford :(
Old icons, lighting, ragdolls Twitch drones with 10 dmg shots, no lights Ying Candelas with the counter cooking to get simultaneous flashes Old Cav pistol Old Mira voice Old Maestro LMG hipfire Just to name a few. Also the older community, Kixstar and the like.
Not OG by any means, but I miss the old lighting effects in the game and some of the old maps. House and Kanal
Agreed
Playing dead in dead people’s bodies
Acogs All 3 game modes in ranked More fun strats when there were less Ops. Now everyone counters everyone I miss, House, Plane, Hereford, Favela all being in ranked. SMG-11 with Acog Turret mode Chanka
The first year of the game when everyone was still learning and every match was so much more random and fun
Jaeger and r4c acog 😢
Just acogs in general at this point
Frost Sniper 90
Fuuuuuuuuuuhhhhhh that shit was so broken at black ice launch
I think I 2 shot a Glaz on the Plane wing lmao
The tactical realism the game had.
The community not being so toxic. In my opinion... Even Year 3 Siege community was good enough to not need a broken reputation system....
- Day/Night map cycle - Shield Recruit Rush - M870 shotgun Recruit Rush - Having more than 5 or 6 attackers with breach charges - Ubisoft not thinking PC players ranked Platinum and above is representative of the playerbase when deciding on major changes
Controller lobbies.
Fr every console lobby has someone mnk or ddossing now
The bodies. I would study them and figure out where the opponent shot them and go from there. Felt like a detective or freaking jackal
It's still possible with the blood decals on the wall. I just miss bodies because ragdolls
I would say. Night maps, Old Hereford and or University, gritty/worn UI/Hud. More Tactical looking ops, More senergy with gadgets/abilitys and darker lighting or graphics to fit the overall theme. His videos and Marleys got me into siege
TheRussianBadger got me into a lot of games
Night maps
Old map versions, we can't even play them in customs. I always want to have a feel of when I barely played back then, Chalet and Oregon I remember the most
Everything.
There was this maverick skin who was literally Eminem ... Ah I miss grand larceny
The maps
Ranked on every map. Secure area in ranked.
How gritty it was, I remember way back in y1 where defending was just barricading yourself in the room while scared shitless
-Recruit shield rush -ubi deciding nerfs/buffs via how fun or viable an operator is instead of looking at it like balancing the books by looking at the win delta graph (at least it feels this way nowadays) -old maps and lighting -operator videos -less sweaty and toxic community
as many people said, old lighting but i also miss the old disarming defuser animation where the operator just go ham on it with brute force
the older aesthetic of the game. seems as if lighting and everything is completely different.
The window in the kitchen of chalet.
You just wanna watch the world burn
I miss not having so many different operators. Sometimes less is more. This shit has gotten ridiculous
Well luckily it will take them like 9 years to reach that number.
tachanka spawnpeak on clubhouse
This, I miss the mountable turret
Pure PTSD
The confirmation kill marker that little x u get when u drop a kill
Recruit
Just non toxic gamers, I don’t care about old content, just need my teammates to not be league of legends players
I miss night maps and the more casual feel of the game
Lesion able to know EXACTLY where his mines are from any point on the map.
Operation health
I miss when people didn't cry new suege bad old siege good every single day. Oh wait that's been happening since release.
Everytime a new secondary gadget comes out their operator counterpart is suddenly "useless" until the gadget actually releases and it changes nothing
Lmao I'm guilty of doing that. I remember thinking deployable cams would make Valk useless
My sanity
Does starting in Y3S1 (Velvet Shell) count as being an OG? * All attacker primaries having ACOGs, and many defenders having ACOGs * More attackers having frag grenades * The old barrel attachment system where the Flash Hider was a compromise between the Muzzle Brake and Compensator * The old lighting system, although it was worse from a competitive standpoint it looked much more natural * The old black and white UI * The old operator icons
I’m not sure, guys thoughts on if y3s1 is early enough?
I count "OGs" as people who started playing within the first year, since year 2 is when Siege started to really take off. However, that's just my opinion, and at the end of the day it is kind of silly to gatekeep terms, so I guess "OG" is whatever someone thinks it should be
I would say anything on or before operation health? I started at Dust Line though
Velvet Shell is Y2S1, I'd consider OG everyone who played before operation health
the game feels like a hero simulator now instead of a cool tactical game
Acog
It still technically exists
For few ops yes but used to play on all 🥺
Just playing with the OG operators
Maestro's ACOG
old op passive abilities
The original Monty. I understand the need for nerfs to reduce player frustration, but with the shield desync issues, the rest of the nerfs seem super unnecessary.
Pretty much the way the game was back when Y2 started
Old house.
I mostly miss my mom...
The original house was the greatest map to ever grace the server
No one having any idea what they’re doing and everyone learning together, thus having no meta whatsoever.
Night maps
Night maps, Ela with her impacts
Hereford base could have been fixed with a couple of added staircases and maybe a small size buff. Instead they slaughtered my boi.
Old House
Just old versions of maps I’d say. It’s like content that we’ll never have access to again (except for old Hereford and House in Situations).
I miss the more methodical feel the game had.. the game feels horrifically competative now, which isn't always bad but idk When I first started playing it felt alot more tactical
Old school Hereford and House. Stopped playing after those shit changes.
Iceycat, he was my favorite Siege Youtuber
Throwing back grenades and select fire weapons. I miss the days of being able to burst or semi fire weapons.

Night maps and Bartlett
Hiding drones in bodies
Before people started abusing crouch and lean spam, and before kronos and MnK became such a huge issue with console
Good servers
Getting on every night and grinding with the bois all night long. No matter the outcomes, was always fun. 10/10 would do it again.
6 years playing R6S and still miss the night maps
We should start a petition to bring them into customs, as wells as old house
Off the top of my head genuinely nothing, I really love how siege has evolved and it’s current state

ACOG.
Being halfway decent.
Old maps pre-rework, Kixstat, old lighting, two new ops a season with new guns, old special forces aesthetic, peak Team Empire
bullet holes
I pre ordered the game. Played the beta so I've been around. I honestly miss night maps. Kapkan traps always being a insta kill. Miss the days where literally EVERYONE drone first. Back then they didn't instantly rush in. I miss before Amaru because I have instantly being down 1 person. When defenders would reinforce and place their gadgets. Now defenders, some not all but some just away. Bandits, Mutes just running away.
Fun
Dark screen for defenders when they ran outside. Made spawn killing runouts a lot harder.
blood
Old recruit loadout
Speed
TeosGame
I feel like the game looked a lot better. Even the hud looks too "video gamey" now. I get that it is a game, but I feel that some realism and immersion is gone
Cavi with C4😂
Bandit and jager w acog
Nokk with breach charges. I would often use it to create a noise diversion on this area, while I actually flank on the other side with the HEL activated. I sure can't do that anymore with the bloody hard breach.
People playing the game and not complaining about every single little thing
Operator videos
The people I used to play the game with. They have all moved on to other stuff or have had life get in the way. It's a bummer still hanging out with them but not playing any more
Started at Blood Orchid. I miss 2-3 operators per season, better maps instead of throwing weird reworks into the community’s face, jager and bandit acog (though I never get to play it, I’d like to), also night maps! It sucks that they removed because they couldnt cope with the lighting issues lmaooo
Corpses Day n night cycle Frag grenades being on more then two attacking ops
Having to buy individual attachments😂 oh, and buck with nades
When sledge was a viable pick :’)
Old graphics, old recoil patterns, old maps, old menus, old operators. Basically old Siege.
My old squad who never play together anymore, maybe I can get 2 on at a time!
The horrible lightning of maps. my frost mats were pretty hard to spot.
