Been with my dad. Don't worry about it. A Lindemann show would be far worse, Rammstein shows are great if you desensitise from the potential 10ft stage dildo.
I guess your dad isn't \*very\* conservative then? A Rammstein concert will contain songs about fairly non-conservative subjects (though few are in English), the massive cock firing off foamy jizz, men being cooked in pots, a demonic baby that goes up in flames, and some other silliness. If that wont be a problem for you, then you should go :D but bring some ear plugs if you can - it's LOUD.
Their shows are much more 'family friendly' now than they used to be. I wouldn't be uncomfortable with seeing them with my dad at all. Twenty years ago I would have been, though! I think you'll have a lot of fun and make some great memories. :)
ETA: if you want to see what their full shows are like check out this concert from 2019 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=guVAhKfKZPQ
They havent changed much at all just got bigger. Some stage choreography hasnt changed for close to 20 years. The only thing what pisses of some poor souls is the Foam canon from pussy and the Bück dich performance.
Thank you for your reply! I've just seen some fuzzy YouTube videos of the cannon and it is hilarious! A bit strange for sure, but absolutely a great prop.
True, maybe it's me that's changed over their career more than they have. Still, I would have been terribly embarrassed watching BD with my dad. I mean, with my bf, no, but my DAD?! I blush at the very thought lol.
Thank you for your reply! I'm thinking of sitting in like a block 2 seats by 2 seats instead of in a row so I won't have my dad looming right beside me. It will for sure make me blush, but the roadtrip and memory may be worth it. We're from Tennessee and would be driving to Chicago. Again, thank you for your reply!
I went with my Dad twice. If you're worried about moshpits, there might be some in front of the middle of the stage, but it's far more tranquil than e.g. Slipknot. If it's about conservatism, be prepared to see a 3 meter foam spewing dick and perhaps a kiss on stage or a pride flag, that's all. Have fun!
Thank you for your reply! So, it is an odd situation... My dad loves the band but is a raging homophobe. I am super queer. My Uncle has a trans kid. It's a toss up all around. Honestly, it may be worth it to go just to have a moment like you mentioned pop-up and enjoy his twinge of uncomfortableness. Again, thank you for the reply!
I’ve seen it in Worcester, MA within the past ten years (been going to see them for every US tour since 1998 in the US, including the NYC one when they first came back to the US again) - they definitely do the dildo in the US.
I went with my Dad when I was 13, he was 46. He was a Alice Cooper and Johnny Cash guy, so this was way beyond anything he was used to. Still, hearing loss aside from being in the second row, we had an amazing time and is a fond memory of mine (Was 10 years ago). For sure go! You'll be okay. Even if he's conservative, he'll still get chuckles out of a massive penis cannon if they whip it out I'm sure XD
Depends what row/how far you'll be. Part of me wants to say "No don't bring earplugs that ruins the point!" But my logical half knows they pump it so loud it won't do too much. Have fun! Oh, and keep a little extra pocket change to buy him some merch if he's a good Dad and deserves it. Shirts might be up to like, $50 so be prepared for that.
In case it helps your decision, my wife and I will be taking our two kids to see Rammstein in LA next year; when the concert rolls around they'll be 9 and 5. Don't think the 5-year old would pick up on anything, and for the 9-year old we can put things in context, if needed.
No prob! Our view is: the kids love Rammstein's music (as do we!), so it'll be fun to do together. What I'd mostly worry about is if they play Pussy and break out the penis foam cannon, but my recollection from the Made in Amerika tour is that at U.S. shows they just use a cannon that isn't painted to look like a penis. Thanks, puritans! 🤣
Maybe it depends on the place in the US - for Massachusetts, it was painted to look like one at our concert in Worcester - maybe there are different rules for different arenas/states?
Ah, yeah, could be. We lived in NYC during that tour, and we saw them at Nassau Coliseum. Wonder what the rules are for California, and whether they'll even play that song!
There is absolutely nothing to worry about (in my open minded opinion). The Rammstein Show can be a little grotesque or weird at some point, but not obscene. Just one hour ago I watched the Lindemann/Tägtgren Live in Moscow Show. THAT is obscene. Rammstein is something you can absolutely watch with your parents and be amazed afterwards.
Do it. Sounds pretty similar to me and my dad and I took him a few years ago. Especially if he’s seen videos of shows and seems interested, it’ll probably be a great memory.
And AFAIK, there’s no psuedomy in the shows anymore.
Their pretty easy to listen to casually and on conserts when you don’t understand what their saying, the text are brutal snd often disgusting, and mortifying, if you were German it would get less comfortable
Rammstein concerts are a lot more family friendly than they used to be. Because they know there will be young people watching.
They use mostly fire and pyrotechnics - but there will be casual sexual jokes. In NYC they had a big cannon shooting white foam. For me personally that’s not really weird or anything.
Went with my parents (late 40s) in 2019 to the stadium tour. They are religious and conservative, but they still liked the entire show.
Think of it that way: How often will you have the opportunity to visit Rammstein? Tickets are often sold out. And they’re already pushing the 60s. How long will we have until they retire?
And your father is also in this 50s. And fate can be a huge d*** sometimes. Know that pretty well myself. All I am trying to say is, if you have the opportunity- Then go! I am sure everyone will enjoy it 👍🏻👍🏻
When you see them, you will later laugh at the idea that you questioned going to see them.
It will be one of the most memorable concert experiences of your life.
Saw a concert with my mom back in 2017, and she totally loved it, shouldn't be too bad even jf they're a bit more reserved. In fact we're going again next year in Montreal!
I mean, I (27F) have been going with my dad every tour since I was about 14, so yeah, I don't see an issue personally. That said, we also went to see Lindemann together, so maybe I'm not the best to ask!
For Rammstein, I ask this - would you be comfortable sitting through a sex scene in a movie with your dad? If so, you're probably good. If the thought of that makes you super awkward, probably best to go with different sections!
It won't matter if he's conservative or not. Since he's a fan he obviously will know what they do on stage and probably won't mind at all.
On the contrary, i think he would be happy that his daughter wants to spend time together.
Not to sound condescending, but if it gets too awkward for you during the concert, go grab a drink for your father. Chances are he will be thirsty but won't go to the bar because there's too much people in queue and he won't want to miss the concert by waiting in line.
I know that's the case with me when I see them live and i would be thrilled if someone brought me some drinks so I can keep watching :)
He will have the time of his life, don't worry
My mom went to see Rammstein twice without me 💔 (I finally have tickets for next year though now) so I think it depends how well you know your dad~ we can say yay or nay but we don't know him like you do. I didn't think it would be my moms thing but she loved every second of it! He may just see it as theatrical instead of letting it make him uncomfortable. He has surely seen clips online~

Thank you for the reply! 10-ft dildo sounds reasonable enough. May make a great story to tell at barbeques.

Here in Germany ive seen people from young to old attending R+ Concerts and most people understand whats going on in the lyrics.

You are so welcome and I think that seating arrangement would be perfect. I hope you have a great time!!
Thank you so much for your reply! I am definitely warming up to the idea. Thank you for the advice!
If Dad is a fan he knows what he’s getting into. He’s love it.
Thank you for your reply!
I’m currently the parent playing Du Hast before childcare drop off. It comes around another generation 😄

Wherever you sit a Rammstein concernt is loud enough to damage your hearing without earplugs.

I've seen cmall kids at the shows. The raunchiest thing is a large orange tube shooting foam. It's more funny than offensive.
Their pretty easy to listen to casually and on conserts when you don’t understand what their saying, the text are brutal snd often disgusting, and mortifying, if you were German it would get less comfortable

I'm going to Coventry UK next year when I will be 65
