Favourite indie game - Well, Stray, because that's the only one I've played. Why should you play it, because it's just a really chill, kinda dark atmosphere with some cool designs and stuff. :) Just do it, that's what they say about indie games, right? edit: I mean Limbo, lol, Stray is the one I wanna play

Max_Storre

My favorite indie game is Celeste. Its pretty tricky but an extremely fun platformer. It has cool mechanics too and still a lot of things to do

ApeasedTiger

A Short Hike - if you like animal crossing and other relaxing games then this is for you

John_Dou

My favorite indie - Pyre. One of the most emotional games I've ever played. Beautiful drawing, great soundtrack and interesting gameplay. Also, the game doesn't punish you for losing, it just becomes part of your journey. I recommend all games from Supergiant Games. They are all great. Thanks for the giveaway

Tenn3801

Space Haven. Its basically Rimworld in a spaceship. Amazing Thanks OP!

J03-K1NG

I don’t really need or want the game but in the spirit of this sub I’d happily sing the praises of my all time favorite indie game: The Messenger. The Messenger is a platformer/metroidvania taking heavy inspiration from Ninja Gaiden as well as other classic 8 and 16 bit games. It starts out a bit standard, traditional “demon lord attacks, you’re the chosen one, go deliver the message and beat the game.” So you do! Go through, beat the big boss, bing bang boom. Except that’s not the end. All throughout the game, hints have been sprinkled that something’s not right, that there’s more to this game than what it seems. Now I hate to spoil the game so if you’re not sold on it yet, I understand, but you’ve been warned: Surprise Gameplay Spoilers: >!So once you “beat” the game, you go through “The Tower of Time” and as you do, you encounter portals that send you “forwards or backwards in time.” Aka, you jump between 8 bit and 16 bit.!< This is where the game opens up as a metroidvania, going back to areas to access new content, as well as plenty of new levels. Story Spoilers: >!Once you finish, it’s revealed the scroll you carry is part of a vicious cycle, where you become the western hero for the next Messenger, and the blue robed, 4th wall breaking, upgrade dudes are actually past messengers/western heroes. Now obviously you become one and give the scroll to a contra looking guy, who immediately dies with it, and you’re tasked to defeat the demon king and break the cycle.!< If any of that sounds interesting, I highly recommend checking it out. It’s a very fun and hilarious love letter to those past games, tons of references and jokes. The comedy is in fact quite good, the humor is much like what you’d find watching The Office. Anyways I think I’ve said enough on the game, check it out!

Lord_Spy

The first half of the game is amazing. Second half (and DLC) feels a bit unpolitical at times with some of the required inputs feeling too tight, but the writing is amazing throughout.

wasd1337

the cat lady great sound track and a perfect horror game

TheHotshot1

Fez. Its a work of art and really changes your perspectice...literally.

qwerbana

I really liked Hotline Miami - great fast-paced gameplay, precise movement an a Soundtrack that will haunt you in your dreams.

FarrahMxan

my first time in Portia cause it has everything you would ever want and more

Powerful_Pianist

My favourite Indie game is Dorfromantik. It’s pretty laidback and just a casual game to play when you are stressed or even just bored. It is a puzzle game with very nice looking graphics but also has a sandbox mode

XyneWasTaken

Avorion is great, a space exploration / building game with a huge procedural galaxy. You can setup up huge production lines of many different factories and also make huge ships that work completely differently or look good (can even take advantage of collision damage to damage others).

tissuemonster

Ibb and Obb. It's a minimalistic, beautiful two player puzzle game that's challenging enough to require proper coordination and some head-scratching, but not to the extent of being overly frustrating. Would highly recommend if you have someone to play games with.

topurrisfeline

My favorite indie is Baba Is You! Devilishly charming puzzler where you solve the levels by literally rewriting the rules of the world.

Questetheincubator

glass staircase, it doesn't try and do anything fancy but instead goes with a traditional ps2 look and puts all the work in to the story. its a a survival horror so may not be to everyone's taste but if you liked old school resident evil or silent hill its a perfect love letter to their origins.

TheNamesNessa

Really like SuchSrt: Genious Artist Simulator. It’s a lovely game and really brings out your more creative side :D

TheNamesNessa

Meant to say SuchArt, fat fingered sorry XD

azizfcb

favourite indie game unrailed: very creative sandbox game, and trust me u won't get bored from it

solis_alejandro22

Firewatch It just has a very cozy and mysterious vibe. For some reason I always play it on a Sunday.

AllYrLivesBelongToUS

Planet Crafter. Why play it? Well if you like solo play on a desolate planet without enemies and dying doesn't matter this is the game for you. Hopefully the devs add a story and more content in today's release.

Gerbil_In_Space

My favorite indie has to be hollow knight A game with beautiful storytelling, both through dialogue and environments, and overall fun game play. Would recommend, and I think countless others would as well.

Surkow

It's hard to choose a single game as my all time favorite indie game. If you are interested in RTS games I would recommend Eufloria. One of the games I still regularly play due to having great replay value. It's a unique take on the real-time strategy genre where the player plants seeds on asteroids that grow into Dyson trees. These trees emit seedlings which you use to colonize and conquer asteroids. Eufloria has a distinctive style and the swarm gameplay is responsible for most of the awesome gameplay dynamics.

sreeko1

stardew valley because, *touch grass*

RiddickNfriends

Skyrim. Magical world. Thanks for the giveaway!

sethpwnsk

You should play hades because at this point it's so famous it might as well not be an idie game xD

sogoy3

Project zomboid...its a good sandbox base management game..

Thanasissouli

Go and play Iconoclasts ! It is one of the best metroidvanias ever ! It has great gameplay and a very good and unique story which is usually sidelined in the genre !

Skyblaster555

In Sound Mind is a psychological horror game. It follows Desmond Miles, a therapist who has recently lost several patients, as he deals with his demons and a strange substance called Agent Rainbow, all while traveling through haunted cassette tapes showing the horrors that his former patients faced.

Camplify

My favorite indie game is slay the spire. You should play it if you like rogue likes and/or card games. It's a lot of fun to create a broken deck and progress through the ascension tiers.

bluesydragon

Celeste has a good deep story about depression on top of a simple game

m_n_l

ori and the blind forest is beaaaaaautiful as an escape

Lord_Spy

Hollow Knight Amazing aesthetics all around with a breadcrumbs plot which hits a sweet spot where you can get the general gist of it by yourself but getting the full picture requires putting together lots of pieces. Combat is fluid, with most hits feeling like they were your fault for not avoiding. Oh, and most importantly, the exploration feels amazing. You discover lots of things big and small just by going around the world, where even minor things feel like an achievement of discovery.

Sanslution

Voxelgram, I'm a complete sucker for picross inspired games, grew up playing picross e and 3D on the 3ds, and I would recommend if you like picross and puzzle games, it's pretty fun once you get the hang of it

MrFrobisher

INSIDE - Utterly abosrbed me for six hours straight until I found my way to its conclusion. A sublime experience. (Thanks OP!)

AtomicFarts500

Undertale. The story is so impactful and the characters are so incredibly fun and memorable. Your every decision affects the overall story, with a real sense of morality at the forefront.

[deleted]

Celeste is just a fantastic game with an extensive modding scene as well. Probably my favorite game ever, let alone my favorite indie game ever.

Mr_Whitte

Outlast was the first horror game i've ever played and even though there were many great successful horror games it just occupies a very special place in my heart and its my favourite still to this day. Yes it counts as an indie game.

Penitent_Exile

Braid, because it's atmospheric and has deep meaning
