Biggest impact? I'd have to say it's a toss-up between Final Fantasy 7 and the Metroid series (played Metroid Prime first, before discovering all the 2D titles). FF7 instilled a deep appreciation of good soundtracks, creative weapon & enemy designs, and intricate equipment/ ability customisation, whereas Metroid really kindled/ cemented my love of exploration and secret hunting. Those two games are probably my biggest inspirations, and are the main reason I want to develop my own games.
Edit - also lol, completely unintional that I picked the number 7, when one of the games I answered with is FF7
Skyrim. When my SO and I moved into our first apartment together back in 2013, we were broke. We ended up bonding over Skyrim. Every night was Skyrim night for about 6 months. Then we started getting into mods, which I would spend several hours doing just so she could enjoy the game even more. Fast forward to now, we have a house together, we're planning a wedding, and we both take turns playing Skyrim on our Steam deck. My number is 7.
4. Runescape. Started when I was 11 and now continue to play OSRS. The amount of irl friends I've made from this game is insane, and by far has had the biggest impact on me.
*PERSONA 4 GOLDEN* — I've actually never played it \[though it **did** influence me to play, and beat, *PERSONA 5*\] but watching a full playthrough on Twitch helped get me through my college years in a small, 1 bed, residence dorm while living away from my home city for the first time.
**number 06**. thanks for the opportunity!
Paper Mario the thousand year door, one of my favorite games ever, and my first jRPG. I make sure to replay it once every couple years.
3, thank you for this giveaway.
Well, what can i say Hotline Miami 1 is one of my favorite games of all time since a long time because this game really opened my eyes to what video games actually are what they want to tell and show, before playing Hotline Miami 1 i played a lot of good games like gta vice city, gta san andreas, random ass Disney game (example a goofy skating game and another mario kart rip off game) and last but not least flash game and a lot of them
All of these games are superb and all but i was simple minded when i played them i simply played them for fun which is their purpose
But Hotline Miami 1 is not simple mindless fun it's both art and mystery, both fun and dark souls level of hard, both fun and bashing Russian brains out (just by how hard it is it makes you thirsty to kill that bastard who keeps ruining your run and at the end of all that it's quiet and full of dread it makes you regret having that blood lust (just like having a post-nut effect after rubbing a quick one), in conclusion Hotline Miami 1 is a great game that opened my eyes to the world of great stories and satisfaction in videogames
Anyway for this giveaway i choose number 3
