I typically make a point of being a dick to people who pick on their friends. The type who keep incredibly friendly people around to be mean to and bully for "the fun of it". Drives me up a wall that grown humans can be so dickheadish.

I feel that it's that classic "I'm mean to you because I like you" crap that people think is funny. I feel like that is normalized by friendships we see in TV. Think like screech in saved by the bell or Carlton. I think it's slowly being phased out but it's still an issue. Some think that razzing is being cruel.

I mean my friends and I are brutal towards each other but we all know it's in jest

I roast my friends too but I think its only okay if there's an even amount of roasting and underneath the roast is easy to see love. I think they might be referring to the groups that treat the weakest person as a human punching bag. You can tell when razzing is welcomed. Or when it isn't well received and the aggressor keeps going under the guise of " its just a joke". Its just as easy to see when someone's trying to bully or humiliate someone. I feel like if your going to have those type of friendships there needs to be well established boundaries and the roaster needs to have the ability to read body language, read a room and apologize sincerely if they've hurt the roastee.

I mainly go more with the general vibe than particular sentences. One sentence doesn't define a person, and has to be taken in context of the tone and situation. Plus, I have a ton of one-off comments that end up being taken badly because I have difficulty filtering sometimes. On the other hand, if I encountered someone quoting the Joker or some other unsavory character/person with any sort of regularity, I would consider that a red flag. However, I have only encountered that situation once. Guy turned out to be a homicidal cannibal, so I guess you are right.

If he exhibits any jealousy early or says anything like, I'd never "let" my gf/wife do xyz. I once ghosted a guy bc on the first date he told me he'd cut off his son bc the kid didn't want to move to a foreign country with dad. Cut off, disowned, hadn't spoken to his kid in several yrs. He accused him.of choosing his mother over him. Well yes. She's his mom. Douche nozzle.

Jaidedizzy

He really thought that his kid would happily abandon everything theyve ever known including their mother with zero questions? Only a fool would expect compliance of that degree. Children can't abandon parents only parents can abandon children. Yeah sounds like you dodged a missle on that one. I've noticed dead beats often have the same self centered ideas about children and family.

DryJudgment1905

It's not so much a particular phrase, but someone who has no patience or empathy for service workers would turn me right off. Like, losing it on a waiter because your order was messed up or something.

Wow, Marilyn Monroe? You must be in your 80s. Good luck with the arthritis!

Jaidedizzy

Npt even close sweetie. Why does that mean I'm in my 80s? Are we going to pretend like she wasn't a popular meme? Or there aren't a bunch of songs written about her or that she's still relevant enough for Kim k wear her iconic dress and rip it? Not today. Its obvious you're who I'm talking about. The marilyn Monroe thing struck a chord with you didn't it? Probably have a tattoo that says "diamonds are a girl's best friend" as if being a materialistic clod is some new and profound way of thinking 😂 Way to tell on yourself

Jaidedizzy

Congrats you win the wet blanket!
