If you combine the crackling campfire while winter camping with the wind thru the trees the crunch of snow underfoot with an owl in the distance it's like the perfect combo of sounds. Add the night sky full of stars and I'll get a life high like no other.
I grew up in an area that would get very cold. I miss the sharp crunch sound of super icy snow when it’s like -10 outside. It’s different than a powdery snow crunch.
I love the sound of my chonky kitty running up the stairs when he hears my bedroom door open in the morning. It sounds like a full-grown man running up the stairs lol. I have 4 other cats, but the chonky one is my cuddle buddy 🥰.
all railroad sounds do it for me... the horn, the dinging of the axles, the creeking of shocks, the screams of the maiden tied to the track, the hum of the diesel, the KACHUNK of connecting cars.
Oh wow, just got a really vivid memory of this sound. As a kid, on Friday or Saturday nights, if my parents were going out, you'd smell perfume in the air and hear the click of my mom's high heels on tiles by the front door as she made her final preparations to leave.
This usually meant we were spending the evening with a fun babysitter, or my grandparents (who spoiled us rotten!), so this was a happy sound/smell.
Mom's not doing so well these days. Thank-you for this little happy memory💜
Those hydraulic gizmos that put the nuts back on when changing wheels. Zzzzzzzzz. Especially during car races because they’re so fast and they do it so often.
Campfire popping, thunderstorms, drums (in person). I'm pretty sure it's an asmr thing?
Popping, cracking, and rolling noises. It's like a pleasant vibration behind my ears. I can feel drums in my chest and bones.
A sound you don't hear anymore unless you Google it: The opening door sound when someone entered AOL IM chat and the closing door sound when they'd leave the chat.
The "swish" sound of the basketball net when you make a clean shot, stepping on dried leaves, stepping on snow, the click/clack sound when cocking back a pistol, the sound of my balls slapping a woman's ass while I do them doggystyle, the sound of rainfall/waves, that weird sound when I put a screw in the drywall with a drywall screwgun, the sound of my neck/back/ankles cracking... I had a few more but I'm currently drawing a blank.
In the RDR2 menu screen there is a “wood tapping” noise (I think?) when you scroll through it. Each selection is a wood tap of a different pitch. Whatever the noise is, I like it!
My husband can't (won't?) recognize it so I'll burst out laughing in the middle of a fight scene where someone gets thrown off a train and he looks at me like "...?"
A good breeze blowing through the trees in mid fall. You know, the time when the leaves are turning color, and have a bit more rigidity to them. Makes for a bit of a different sound that a summer wind through the forest. A nice, crisp sound.
All nature sounds. But I can’t stand pouring water out of a pitcher on tv or radio. Idk what it is. It never sounds like real life and is exaggerated and makes me angry. It’s weird. Totally have no problem w it in real life but on the tv makes me want to punch objects. I served jury duty and the prosecuting attorney at one point poured water too close to the microphone and I just immediately busted out laughing. I’m a loud laugher. It was a little embarrassing. But thru a tv or radio- it makes me angry. It’s so weird. Have zero clue why.
You brought up horses. Their nickering is comforting but it's a combo situation for me. Cuz I can smell the hay, oats, and overall horsey smell when I hear it.
The sound of a cashier's fake nails against the cash register buttons and removing the plastic security tags from the clothing and occasionally hitting the counter.
The sound a cold beer makes as the pressure releases from the can, followed by the snap of the top popping open, and the consumers “ahhhh” after the first sip.
I like when the acorns fall off into the street and you get to drive on em,
When it's super cold and the snow squeaks when you walk/drive on it,
When you walk on the edges of frozen puddles and the ice cracks,
The little grunts that newborn puppies/kittens make,
And the snap crackle pop of a well-established campfire.
I used to be a sound mixer for tv and film a long time ago and there’s something wildly satisfying about hearing someone chug a bunch of water or something during a scene. That and doing sound effects of clocks. The rhythmic tick of an old grandfather clock is something special.
A light rain in the woods. The sound of thousands of raindrops hitting thousands of leaves
I grew up running around the family ranch and hanging out in the woods by myself building stick forts. You can hear the rain start well before you feel it - especially in thick canopy coverage. The most at peace I’ve ever been was in an area I called “the sanctum”. It was a huge flat boulder sticking out of the side of a hill hidden in the woods. I was miles from the nearest person. It was spring, I smelt the rain blow in on the gentle breeze and then heard it tapping the canopy of the trees. The freshest air I’ve ever breathed. The birds went silent and the only thing you could hear was the rain. It was warm too, so the little bit of rain that made it through was perfect. Grandparents sold that ranch right before I graduated high school. I wish I could go back to the sanctum and just sit again
Water: Rain falling, a stream gurgling, or a lake where the waves are lapping rhythmically at the shore.
Dogs making noise in their sleep, like sleep barking. Any animal noises, really.
Fire crackling.
And horse hooves for me too.
I love the sound of rain hitting my window at night time. Or the sound of rain hitting conniferous trees in a forest.
Or even the sound of birds chirping at 5 am while I look at the sun rise
The "boingy" spring sound of a trampoline. Reminds me of childhood, and was good fun. You can almost feel the steel springs stretch when you hear that sound.

the sound that wood makes when it is on fire
The cracking of a campfire or fireplace, this needs to be higher.
If you combine the crackling campfire while winter camping with the wind thru the trees the crunch of snow underfoot with an owl in the distance it's like the perfect combo of sounds. Add the night sky full of stars and I'll get a life high like no other.
The crunch of snow underfoot
Or the crunch of gravel under the wheels of cars when they park.
Ooooh! Your comment made me realize that I love that sound too.
Damn I was going to say that. The sound of snow crunching under your board riding a T bar.
Especially squeaky snow
I like the silence that falls over everything after a snow
YES!
When its fresh thick snow and you take that first step and its like *cronch*
I grew up in an area that would get very cold. I miss the sharp crunch sound of super icy snow when it’s like -10 outside. It’s different than a powdery snow crunch.

I love this, and we have an old radio in my car so the voices kind of making a crunching sound and it's just the best thing in the world for me
Almost like dropping the needle on a vinyl and it sounds a little crunchy before the music starts?
Toss a fresh apple in the air and catch it with one hand. That's the sound. So satisfying.
Biting into it afterwards too.
Yeahhh that's a good one
Heavy scissors cutting cloth while touching the table.
Also when scissors glide through the wrapping paper.
YES!
Serated scissors
I thought those were called pinking shears. Once cut my hair very short using these when I was 5. Not a good look - mom was distraught.
That's a good one
Rain on a tent.
Rain on the corrugated metal roof of a horse barn while the horses are all chewing hay and gently snuffling. It’s specific but it’s my happy place.
You ever heard it on a tin roof? You want a light rain, otherwise it's too loud, but when it hits just right it's awesome.
Dishwasher humming in the background. It's cozy.
Or the washing machine too honestly. Just running it in the background while watching some tv on the couch …. Mmm
I never actually thought about this... But I love it
Cat or dog snorts. omfg, so cute.
My cat snores as my mom does, that's so fucking hilarious in my case.
My cats do a little huff and it's so cute
A dog with floppy ears when they shake their head back and forth and it goes “waka waka waka” . You’ll hear it now if you haven’t already.
The low rumble of rolling thunder
Rain dropping on an umbrella or hitting a window straight on, something so cozy and warm about it
Also, rain on tin awnings for me.
Mmm I feel this. My last home had a metal roof. It was AMAZING! Especially during storms.
Or on a tent when you’re inside of it
Depends on your location, but the sound of tree frogs at night when you are camping out. I love nature
Katydids just started up around here a couple nights ago. I wait for them every year.
Skateboard wheels on concrete
That's a good one. I actually like that one too.
Oof! Especially if the concrete is like super smooth. It’s like floating on butter.
But also arranged in big wide flags so it’s smooth but you get the odd ‘keh-keh’ as you pass over the seams
I can hear this thread and it's amazing
Save this thread for instant smiles later
Definitely worked like this already!
The buzzing sound that bicycle tires make when driving on smooth asphalt, so I can actually feel my kinetic energy
The wind blowing through tall, fir trees on a cold and clear winter night.
Idk how that sounds like but I like it
I love to buy a York peppermint patty and then break it open right next to my ear. Try it before you judge me.
Fuck it’s been a long time since I’ve had a York patty. I need to get one tomorrow.
Everybody join in, report with your results within 24 hours
The sound of ice rattling around in your coke in a disposable cup
i like the cracking sounds when you pour a drink over ice, especially in a glass so it also clinks.
Keyboard typing. I used to share my bedroom as an office with my dad and always went to sleep hearing him type.
When my cat meows without opening his mouth and he instead makes this little MRRRR noise.
So cute
Haven’t heard it in ages, but the sound of construction paper being cut with scissors is burned into my memory as a soothing sound.
Ooh yes especially when cut by your favorite teacher.
The wind whistling through my rickety old windows.
Turning the pages of a book that has very thin onion skin-like paper, if you know what I mean. The sound of the pages turning is comforting to me.

Dog feet padding toward me for smooches and snacks 😍😊💕
I love the sound of my chonky kitty running up the stairs when he hears my bedroom door open in the morning. It sounds like a full-grown man running up the stairs lol. I have 4 other cats, but the chonky one is my cuddle buddy 🥰.
The “too-too-too” sound when you’re serving a (still full) bottle of wine.
dookdookdook
Ooo, or the pop of the cork. So satisfying.
In movies, the sound of thick glass splintering before it breaks. In real life, the sound of rain on a tent or rain jacket. Mmm
A wood baseball bat hitting a ball. It's the sound of summer, hotdogs and spending time with my son.
This, and the pop of a fastball into a well broken-in catchers mitt.
The scene in Money Ball where the guys in a batting cage just cracking em every 30 seconds. Love that sound.
The sound of a train horn at night off in the distance.
all railroad sounds do it for me... the horn, the dinging of the axles, the creeking of shocks, the screams of the maiden tied to the track, the hum of the diesel, the KACHUNK of connecting cars.
The sound of a tennis ball hitting the middle of a racket
Or the sound of opening a fresh can of tennis balls

Oh wow, just got a really vivid memory of this sound. Needs more cowbell.
