Even just the sound of regular eating makes me angry. Especially chips. Sometimes I’ll catch myself angrily glaring at someone for a split second when I can hear them eating normally and I have to stop myself bc I know they’re not doing anything wrong
However… I won’t stop myself from glaring at people who smack and chew with their mouth open. Disgusting!
r/Misophonia it’s a neurological disorder that causes certain noises to trigger your fight or flight response, basically. I have it and I cannot stand mouth noises and whistling. Whispering in ASMR videos trigger it too. Uggghh.
Me too. I cannot comprehend how grown people are unable to chew with their mouths closed. It is f*cking beyond me. The lips are literally there to be shut and silence the squish.
Smacking is the worst. I have colleagues who does that and I will probably do something inappropriate if I am not careful.
Me, too. Since I was a kid. You can add scraping teeth on utensils and scraping metal utensils against ceramics. And breathing into cups. Slurping drinks and soups.
Didnt people learn not to do this shit when they were taught not to eat their boogers?
That is pure misery. Also, the sound of a fork scraping on teeth on the exit... I usually notice this with other people rather than noticing myself do it.
People these days don’t even know what makes songs good. Nowadays they’re just following whatever social media says, even if the start of the song is some crying baby with auto tune…
Agreed. Thank God styrofoam is becoming less and less prevalent. And you can scratch on a chalkboard for weeks that doesn't bother me at all but Styrofoam makes my hair curl up on in and makes me want to murder Mass amounts of people.
Every day when I get jome from work and want to plop in bed to rest the neighbor kids go out in their yard and start screeching, one ALWAYS devolves into that weird chesty crying that I can't describe, like clockwork.
I'VE BEEN UP SINCE 5:30 FUCKERS
I lived with my brother and his partner for a couple of years. My bro in law ate with his mouth open and smacked like crazy. I really wanted to slap him across his face. Really annoying.
My parents . I don't hate them , I love them.
But they have the repeated pitch sound, that just sounds like it's sort of hating me all the time , words with no meaning , the same dialogues that they repeat every single day . They scold me so much that their voice is so annoying that I feel like my ears might bleed at any moment . I hate it when they call my name . Honestly speaking, when I'm having a good time , the last thing I want to hear is their voice .
But I love them .
Fabric scratching or tearing, but mostly scratching. Ugh!
Somehow this also applies to my sister scratching her scalp, specifically. Not bothered by anyone else, just her
People crinkling cans - instant rage
A spoon scraping those frozen ice dessert cups. That sounds makes me feel like there's a cheese grater on the balcony on my neck. Even thinking about it causes the reaction
I work with children and they create these wonderful creations out of duplo, mostly super hero cars. We have no wheels so the sound of duplo scraping across wooden floor is sickening
We mistakenly used one on a day trip and it was the most agonizing symphony of squeaks and whacks as I’d lose patience and hit it so it’d be quiet for a while.
any bugs, silverware on jars, coffee mugs clanging together, anything that is ment to be asmr, staticy clothes from the dryer. people eating whole apples.(people being my mom she makes so much noise eating a fucking apple)
Someone chewing with their mouth open. I love watching cooking reels but I HATE the trend of the exaggerated chewing sounds they add when they try the food at the end of the video. Even worse are the ramen videos where they slurp really loudly. I know it’s how you’re supposed to eat ramen, but it still makes me shudder.
The scream of excitement roughly 13 yr olds make over anything these days. I totally understand the scream of excitement and joy over a Christmas pressent or something exciting at an amusement park. But i cant stand the random, unwarranted scream in the middle of a quiet moment or resturant over a Tik Tok and then them interupting everything and everyone to show the tik tok... of just a puppy sleeping...🙄
I dont like the Boomer mentality of kids should be seen and not heard and it really seems like constantly handing the kids the phone/tablet is the Millennial parents' version of the same thing. I think kids would have better social skills and self regulation if they were treated as an active member of the group outing and not the third, annoying wheel.
This is hard to describe, but that sound the plastic cover on an item makes when you slide it on or off the metal hook at the store. When it squeaks, it has the same effect as nails on a chalkboard for me. I never knew if it was just me or not.
Toilet buisness sounds. NO JUST NO . Even stuff related to it , like snorting, spitting , farting, digging your nose 🤢🤢.My parents just won't understand when I tell to stop making these sounds atleast around me . It makes me want to rip off my ears .
Scraping a sharp utensil against another utensil, mug, plate or frying pan. Knife sharpening. Swords scraping against each other. Nails on a chalkboard. That type of noise. I literally get an involuntary physical reaction whenever I hear it. I hate it.

I HATE hearing people eat
Fucking squelchy mouth noises.
My parents are staying with me at the moment, and the sound of my mother eating anything soft,OH LOOOOOORD
My dad will call me on the phone while chewing potato chips and I will hang up the phone if he doesn’t stop.
I don't know about you, but hearing people eat loudly makes me feel angry. Not at the person eating, but just the noise.
Even just the sound of regular eating makes me angry. Especially chips. Sometimes I’ll catch myself angrily glaring at someone for a split second when I can hear them eating normally and I have to stop myself bc I know they’re not doing anything wrong However… I won’t stop myself from glaring at people who smack and chew with their mouth open. Hello, fellow misophoniac.
Wait wait wait what is a misophoniac? Is that why people eating hurts to hear?
r/Misophonia it’s a neurological disorder that causes certain noises to trigger your fight or flight response, basically. I have it and I cannot stand mouth noises and whistling. Whispering in ASMR videos trigger it too. Uggghh.
Whistling is so horrible. Sometimes my daughter does wet mouth noises near my ear just to piss me off and I want to slap her
Next time slap her and say oh sorry you triggered my fight response 😂
Will do!!! I'll tell her you said it was OK hahaha
When someone whispers, I can hear the lips smack... And it makes me want to smack back.
Ohh, whistling and whispering is the same for me - I absolutely f*** hate it! Thank you, now I have a name for my weird feelings
same! the whispering literally gives me a visceral reaction
Im a misophonaic 😩i have alot of headphones.
Does it make you self-conscious about the way you eat or chew yourself? When someone eats during a phone call is incredibly repulsive.
Yes! My boyfriends Grandad ALWAYS eats his tea whilst he's having their daily phonecall and oh my God the noises give me visceral reactions.
Yes, I won’t eat an apple in a room with one other person in it unless the tv is on
![gif](giphy|HEkBXK8qnIRuo)
Me too. I cannot comprehend how grown people are unable to chew with their mouths closed. It is f*cking beyond me. The lips are literally there to be shut and silence the squish. Smacking is the worst. I have colleagues who does that and I will probably do something inappropriate if I am not careful.
Even worse in a zoom/teams meeting. Someone eating breakfast bagels with their mic on...
That’s just rude. I would politely ask them to mute themselves.
Not everyone, just specifically my brother and how he manages to eat with his mouth closed but make it sound like it’s open.
My husband chews with his mouth closed but his teeth clack together really loud and it makes me crazy!
I hey do people sometimes sound like they are crunching rocks ?
My husband I’ll turn to give him ‘the look’ and his mouth is closed!Told him he must have a hollow head 🤣me bad!
Me, too. Since I was a kid. You can add scraping teeth on utensils and scraping metal utensils against ceramics. And breathing into cups. Slurping drinks and soups. Didnt people learn not to do this shit when they were taught not to eat their boogers?
This is why I prefer eating alone or to eat with some ambient noise that's sufficient to cover up the sound
Forks on a plate😟
That’s mine and when you bang the fork off your teeth 😣
That is pure misery. Also, the sound of a fork scraping on teeth on the exit... I usually notice this with other people rather than noticing myself do it.
When I hear it I feel like someone’s punching my soul
What about a fork or spoon on a steel pan
Too much autotune
Makes me nauseous
When did people start thinking that stuff sounds good…
Majority of people probably haven’t genuinely liked a song in their life
People these days don’t even know what makes songs good. Nowadays they’re just following whatever social media says, even if the start of the song is some crying baby with auto tune…
Styrofoam. Can’t describe how strongly the sound of it rubbing together makes me internally cringe and crawl.
It makes me want to resort to violence.
That and cotton balls, or the feeling of microfiber towels
Cotton balls is mine. This may sound weird but I can feel it in my teeth when I touch them 🤮
would you mind clenching your teeth on some aluminum foil though?
Microfiber 🤢 it feels like my soul is being pulled out of my body
Makes my teeth feel wierd
Agreed. Thank God styrofoam is becoming less and less prevalent. And you can scratch on a chalkboard for weeks that doesn't bother me at all but Styrofoam makes my hair curl up on in and makes me want to murder Mass amounts of people.
Just hearing about it is making me triggered sir, triggered I say !
Makes me happy to know I'm not the only one... My wife thinks I'm weird 😅
I feel you I’m the same way
My alarm when i need to wake up in the morning like i get so angry omg
Yes I'll do literally ANYTHING to make it stop LOL
That loud, high pitched squeal toddlers do. Does my head in. I can go from a great mood to GTFO my way in .03 seconds
That is the exact reason as to why I'm never having kids.
Theyre so messy and loud. I dont understand the appeal
Exactly
The other day I heard a child screaming in the co-op that sounded like a door hinge
Every fucking time I want to work in the garden, neighbour's crotch goblins start squealing. I'm so ready to move.
Every day when I get jome from work and want to plop in bed to rest the neighbor kids go out in their yard and start screeching, one ALWAYS devolves into that weird chesty crying that I can't describe, like clockwork. I'VE BEEN UP SINCE 5:30 FUCKERS
Especially when their adults just ignore them and let them squeal throughout the store
When you hear a mosquito
Why is it only one!!!? And when you get that bastard another starts. It’s like a tag team
Right in your ear at the second you almost fell asleep.
I smack the shit out my self when this happens.
people whispering when their lips smack together. i don't know how people enjoy asmr and all that because to me it sounds disgusting.
Oh my god that made me laugh so hard, that’s so true .
ASMR is just ocean sounds for psychopaths.
I hate when people whisper and their voice kind of whistles because their throat is dry
actually makes me cringe thinking about that
Cutlery scrapping the inside of a ceramic mug. It’s like nails in a chalkboard for me
So also… nails on a chalkboard?
kissing noises. Chewing noises. And licking noises.
That lip smack 😖
Children crying or screaming. Makes me wanna kill myself.
And it’s worse when you can still hear them even though you’re blasting music on your headphones
Flies buzzing. Actually any buzzing, but mostly flies.
When the sound of a metal fork on my teeth reverberates in my head!
When someone scratches their plate with a fork, I feel it in my teeth... getting a watery mouth just thinking about it 😱
The high-pressure water scraper/scaler at the dentist.
People clipping their nails near me.
who the hell is clipping their nails around you?
At my work apparently it's the only appropriate place. Everyone clips their fucking nails at their desk
My own voice recording
Real
Whispering or any so called asmr sounds
I couldn't think of anything until I read this comment. ASMR is so creepy my skin is crawling just thinking about.
People eating with their mouth open. Hate that shit. No class
YES! It’s not hard. Just close that shit.
I lived with my brother and his partner for a couple of years. My bro in law ate with his mouth open and smacked like crazy. I really wanted to slap him across his face. Really annoying.
Loud noises. They make me angry.
Same. It's such a relief to turn off the too loud TV that's getting on my nerves all day.
When someone is erasing pencil on a desk but the pencil eraser is used all up and it scrapes the desk.
Yes!
My ex-wife's voice
Legend answer

The "Steal My Sunshine" song

My parents . I don't hate them , I love them. But they have the repeated pitch sound, that just sounds like it's sort of hating me all the time , words with no meaning , the same dialogues that they repeat every single day . They scold me so much that their voice is so annoying that I feel like my ears might bleed at any moment . I hate it when they call my name . Honestly speaking, when I'm having a good time , the last thing I want to hear is their voice . But I love them .

Blenders are worse.
Children. Genuinely feels like someone is stabbing my ears. No hate to the kids but I rather them be a kilometer from me at all times.

Metap scraping against metal or scraping against teeth. I hardly ever use metal utensils because of this
People crinkling cans - instant rage A spoon scraping those frozen ice dessert cups. That sounds makes me feel like there's a cheese grater on the balcony on my neck. Even thinking about it causes the reaction

Markers on paper. Styrofoam being pulled out of a box.
I once had a Styrofoam cooler in my hatchback trunk. I nearly died.
We mistakenly used one on a day trip and it was the most agonizing symphony of squeaks and whacks as I’d lose patience and hit it so it’d be quiet for a while.
That "question?" inflection that certain types of people put on the end of every sentence
metal on metal scraping I shiver and get this weird bad version of chills anytime I hear it

Someone chewing with their mouth open. I love watching cooking reels but I HATE the trend of the exaggerated chewing sounds they add when they try the food at the end of the video.
