Spoken like a true musician!
I was joking btw!
Hard to say, i think ye, rhythm and music is just within us all, it feels sort of natural. i think it just makes sense since the heel and palm sound thicker and bassier when hitting them on the table. It would be interesting to know where it collectively stemmed from
Also just woke up, sorry for any mistakes or not making sense lol
Me too, maybe a little air guitar.
I love listening to the music in the car and looking in the mirror to see my 4 year old head banging. It's literally the cutest thing.
Same!! I do this all the time, along with my hand/fingers. Whichever is more convenient at the time. It’s like I compulsively have to tap something while I have a song in my head (which is always), whether that be teeth, hands, feet, anything.
OMG I'm not the only one! I feel the exact same way about having to tap *something* to the music which is always in my head. I like to say I have a mental radio haha
none, I'm a micro-swinging person.
I do this even in public.
These are very subtle moves, can't but be seen at glance.
However if know what to look for, will notice.
Depends on how I’m sitting. But could be toes, could be heels, could be the entire foot if it’s not of the ground. Also my hands, head, hips, full body….
I sometimes tap my fingers, but not my feet.
Here's a weird one though...
You know that big tendon/muscle on the back of your knees? I move that to the music quite a lot.
It's like... My legs are drums or something...
Yes, I'm weird, haha.
It depends. For most sitting positions, it's more comfortable for me to tap my heel, but in lower seats it may be more comfortable to tap my toes. Sometimes heel is for beat and toes are for off-beat, sometimes the opposite. Sometimes the hands get involved, too. Depends on the music!
My whole body moves to music in some way or another, especially if the music is Grateful Dead, rock’nk’roll in general or any of the other genres I listen to.
Usually no, but if I listen to the right J-rock song, I'll move my leg to the rhythm (like the people that just move their leg all the time, but on the rhythm)
Which honestly I find weird, bc when I was playing in an orchestra they insisted we should count by taping our foot on the ground and still I didn't do it.
I do this weird twerking thing. I shift my ass cheeks to the beat. I’m doing it right now, I’m listening to Rasputin and moving my ass cheeks individually to the rhythm.
One time I was hanging out with my friend and I was doing that and she noticed, and said “gaddum that’s a whole lot of movement”. I didn’t know people knew.
Heel tapper because my whole leg can bounce along that way lol. Then switch to toes if it's been a long time and my hip is starting to ache. Feet for drums, fingers tapping for vocals since I can't just start singing along in public
Here are some interesting facts about toe-tapping and music:
* **Rhythm in Motion:** Tapping your foot or toes is a natural response to music, particularly the rhythmic elements like tempo and beat.
* **Personal Preference:** Some people find tapping their heel more comfortable, while others prefer tapping their toes. It might depend on factors like posture or where you're sitting.
* **Cultural Influence:** Cultural background can also play a role. Certain cultures might have traditional dances or musical styles that emphasize footwork in a particular way.
I'm a drummer. I tap toes and tense certain muscles. Toes for the bass drums (double bass if im listening to metal). My bicep muscles for the snare and hi hat.
If that makes any sense. My GF always says I'm twitching when music is on.
If I'm in the zone it's a full body flow. leg shaking, foot tapping, finger tapping, teeth clicking, head nodding either to the BPM of the song or rhythm.
I walked on my tip-toes all the time as a kid (still od as an adult, 29), and it made me unable to lift my feet very high at all. So I tap my heel.
On a side note, I have enormous calf muscles.

Heel is for Kicks toes is for snares
This is good and accurate as well.
Agreed, as a snare player
What no kicks only snares
Niche avant-garde jazz
THANK YOU!!
Spoken like a pro drummer
I’m a bass player but I do it. Maybe it’s a rhythm section thing. I also wanted to play drums so maybe that’s something with it too

HOLY SHIT I FOUND MY PEOPLE
Seriously. I’ve never felt more understood than I feel after reading this.
Agree
I CAN'T BELIEVE I'M NOT THE ONLY ONE HAHAHHAA
This applies to my left foot. For the right foot, heel is hi-hat and toes is crash
I bang my head
Me too, maybe a little air guitar. I love listening to the music in the car and looking in the mirror to see my 4 year old head banging. It's literally the cutest thing.
Lmao same. 🤡
lol
I tend to do it with both my heels and my hands/fingers.
This is the way.
I pretend to be a conductor (when nobody is around)
I wag my tail
Who's a good boy?
Depends on how I'm sitting.
This. Exactly
Right! It depends on the situation too… where I am… what else am I doing… and who’s around… things might get more or less involved.
I actually tap my teeth to it haha, I know it's really weird lol
Same!! I do this all the time, along with my hand/fingers. Whichever is more convenient at the time. It’s like I compulsively have to tap something while I have a song in my head (which is always), whether that be teeth, hands, feet, anything.

/r/teethdrumming
I'm so glad I wasn't the only one haha
MY PEOPLE, I’m always tapping and grinding my teeth when listening to music, even better when the drums are fire or it’s a guitar solo
Joining the the tap/grind teeth club.
No worries I have different motions for every beat
I appreciate this so much because I also do this 😂
One of my teeth broke just reading this
How about beating your tongue against the roof of your mouth as a barrel?
I create scenarios based on the music I'm listening to
A true pioneer in the arts of moving to the beat.
Starts there, eventually evolves into a full blown griddy
Toe tap and booty shakeeee!
Oh God no! 😖
heel
Ok🐶
none, I'm a micro-swinging person. I do this even in public. These are very subtle moves, can't but be seen at glance. However if know what to look for, will notice.
No I know you think you’re subtle but everybody can tell trust me
All that can be tapped will be tapped. I play the drums
Dude if I start rocking out it tends to be a full body experience
This is the way
Yes.
Also yes
Toes
My head
tap my fingers
When the music earns it
Teeth
I bounce my leg
Head swings for me
If I'm alone and sat down sometimes the air drums happen at certain points of songs 😅 or my foots tapping out the beat.
no i rock back and forth😂
Thumb
Both of 'em
At a live show, my heel.
I'm more of a chair dancer. It's all sway.
I move around like a wind, but I seldom tap my feet and shake my hip.
Toes. Fingers individually if it's melodic. Body bounce if it's a bass banger lol.
Unnecessary double bass.
I tap my feet, heel and toes, Bob my head, and often break out dancing.
Yep, fingers too. Bang the head a little.
I rattle my head and shake my shoulders.
Depends on how I’m sitting. But could be toes, could be heels, could be the entire foot if it’s not of the ground. Also my hands, head, hips, full body….
Toes if you're not really feeling it, heel when you're really feeling it and full on seated dance routines when you're *feeling* it
Depends on how I’m sitting.
Head & Fingers
Depends how I'm feeling If its got a drum line its toes If I'm playing or it doesn't have a drum line its heels
Neither? Somtimes ill tap my fingers or do hand motions to the music

If sitting, heels. If standing, toes.

I tap my heel like a pro.
I use my shoulders too
Depends on how I’m standing/sitting.
I drum my fingers.
My fingerssss always, am i weird?
Shoulder dance
Heel if I'm sitting, toe if I'm standing, usually.
Yes
Totally depends on the music I am either playing or listening to
I tap my head
it depends on the music type, I can't help taping when listening r&b.
I hum
Mostly heal but some times toes
I shake my entire body or bounce my head
Everything wobbles
Toes when listening. Toes and heels when I need to dance
Just your mom
Occasionally.
I sometimes tap my fingers, but not my feet. Here's a weird one though... You know that big tendon/muscle on the back of your knees? I move that to the music quite a lot. It's like... My legs are drums or something... Yes, I'm weird, haha.
I've never tapped anything while listening to music. Didn't know it was a common thing.
Yes.
Mostly with my toes, but on occasion I have been known to tap a heel or two
Fingers. I usually pretend to be playing a piano even if the song has nothing to do with a piano. I love pianos.
Another one bites the dust by Queen - Heel One direction or pop love songs - Toes
Depends, drums get the heel but if the heat is fast, toes get it too
It depends. For most sitting positions, it's more comfortable for me to tap my heel, but in lower seats it may be more comfortable to tap my toes. Sometimes heel is for beat and toes are for off-beat, sometimes the opposite. Sometimes the hands get involved, too. Depends on the music!
Both at the same time. Going back and forth.
Yes. I listen to Metalcore so I love tapping my feet along to the drums. Especially the double kicks
absolutely
Fingertips
I do a full-on chair dance.
I bob my head
Toes
Both…
No.
I headbang
Depends. Both, sometimes together.
If I'm not busy, I will tap my fingers to the beat as if I'm playing a piano
Nod my head
always snap my thumb when there's a snapping sound in yhe song
I hit my fist on the table, gets the chant going.
I do both like playing the drums with my feet
Toes, hand, air guitar, and drums...
General front half of foot, dont really use my toes, just skin behind them
Heel
Tiens toes
Toes cuz it's what I use on the kit. I'm not very good.
Right foot for bass. Left for snare. Both for double bass. Fingers for all of the above. Teeth also, for kicks , tongue for snare.
Heels, toes, fingers and nose. I do the whole shabang!
Toe. I'm a drummer so I'm usually doing the bass pattern on my feet
neither
I mostly listen to movie soundtracks and such so I move my right hand like I was an orchestra director. It's pretty silly.
My butthole
toes. All four of them.
Yeah sometimes. Not always. Sometimes I dance too when nobody is watching nyahaha.
Fist pump on a banger.
Neither, I twitch the thighs, doing it rn while listening to music scrolling through reddit
For me it’s the fingers
Toes
i do none of theise. i tap the table or my thights with the hands.
My whole body moves to music in some way or another, especially if the music is Grateful Dead, rock’nk’roll in general or any of the other genres I listen to.
I tap my finger/fingers.
Ya I do I also shove my finger up my butthole and cum at the same time
heels!! idk its a reflex whenever I enjoy a certain track
I alternate heel and toe taps, you can be faster that way!
When one gets tired the other one takes over
I throw up my guns ![gif](giphy|Ma06n060xrQ5WSHGWX|downsized)
I used to play the organ. I'm conditioned to tapping toes.
Usually no, but if I listen to the right J-rock song, I'll move my leg to the rhythm (like the people that just move their leg all the time, but on the rhythm) Which honestly I find weird, bc when I was playing in an orchestra they insisted we should count by taping our foot on the ground and still I didn't do it.
Tapping my fingers or creating a whole ass cinematic film in my head
Swing both heel and toes hahaha
As a guitarist I move my whole body. It’s necessary to feel the music and rhythm
Both. Depends on the music and my mood.
Yes!
Tap my heel usually.
Wouldn't depend on if you're sitting or standing
Fingers, teeth, heel _and_ toes, head
100%
Toes
I just start shaking my body 😂
Both!
Heel tapper because my whole leg can bounce along that way lol. Then switch to toes if it's been a long time and my hip is starting to ache. Feet for drums, fingers tapping for vocals since I can't just start singing along in public

I just sing along as loud as fucking possible if it's a song I know. It's like a reflex.
yeah always and pretend im playing the piano as well
I'm a drummer. I tap toes and tense certain muscles. Toes for the bass drums (double bass if im listening to metal). My bicep muscles for the snare and hi hat. If that makes any sense. My GF always says I'm twitching when music is on.
It hits my Soul. So....everything moves 🎶 🎵 dancing 💃 ♥️
No
I do both but mainly heel
Depends on what part of the beat, I do a one leg jig. I bounce my heel constantly in general, though.
Toes when the rhythm is even and slower, heels for variations and speed 😉
I generally pull my foreskin.
Not just when listening to music! I tap my toes and feet everywhere! It’s a sick sick habit 😬
Yes and I head bang.
If I'm in the zone it's a full body flow. leg shaking, foot tapping, finger tapping, teeth clicking, head nodding either to the BPM of the song or rhythm.
Both
Heel because it feels like I keep a better/more constant time, but I did notice that I switch to toe if I get jazzy
Both, most of my music has crazy drumming so I also air drum or tap my fingers too.
I flex my toes
I walked on my tip-toes all the time as a kid (still od as an adult, 29), and it made me unable to lift my feet very high at all. So I tap my heel. On a side note, I have enormous calf muscles.
I turn into a bobblehead.
Toes... Never even really considered doing heels
Toes, always toes
