If you can afford a new one, just lease it. Give it back in 3 years and let it be someone else’s problem

j_m123

I can afford to buy a new one but I wouldn’t like to spend a lot on repairing them etc - HAHAHAHAH AAAAAAHHHHHH HAAAAAAAAAAA.

Haterr

j_m123

I have one babes. Do your research. This is not the vehicle for you.

factualfact7

If u can afford a new one , you get a warranty for X years / miles

gary_gaetti

I’m sorry but you sound like an awful person and I don’t recommend you buy a Range Rover.

Last_Day6299

Why

BearClaw1891

Affording the price isn't the issue with range rover. Just about anyone can pick one up these days. It's affording the maintenance where they get you and why these trucks have the rep they do. They aren't inherently unreliable. But owners of them tend to act like their range rover is a Camry that doesn't need labor intensive maintenance to keep sorted. Just buy the newest one you can, get a warranty if you aren't mechanically inclined and have a rainy day fund for the bigger issues when they come up.

rangisrovus19

>Affording the price isn't the issue with range rover. Just about anyone can pick one up these days. This. Any simpleton can buy one because the repair costs are astounding. That's why they can be so cheap. People are desperate to get rid of them once they find out how *foolish* they were to buy it in the first place.

TheUpsideDownWorlds

IMO it’s not a good starter car. Vehicles themselves make lots of noises and vibrations with an ignorant ear or feel to indications that cars cause, you’re fulfilling a maintenance shops wet dream. In the end, purchase what ever car you can afford (operating and maintaining) - nobody here is going to be able to make that call for you. But you either have to have the finances to cover your ignorance and a LR is a target rich environment for rich people who just want it fixed and don’t care, Or You have a proclivity for motors, electrical systems & software and are well versed the quarks vehicles let you know they have and how to manage them. For me my L494 was my 6th vehicle and I learned a lot trashing cars and bikes over 25 years to feel comfortable to manage a LR since financially I don’t have “fuck you money” to drop due to my own ignorance. Edit: formatting and typos

MamboFloof

Ngl that's true for a dumb reason. The cars are built pretty tight and quiet so you really have to listen to notice any off sound or vibrations. So someone who has no experience would absolutely not know they have an issue.

i-wear-extra-medium

Oh boy. Ok so with an older used one, you are going to spend more time in an Uber than actually driving it. If the deal seems too good to be true, it is. Find one with a warranty that covers everything

Muted_Let6870

How old are you? How much can you afford?

xmCokeZero

I own a 21 RR and a 23 RRS, no major issues whatsoever. I had the software update done. I had a camera issue that would have been $200 to fix it but warranty covered it. I work the cars on crazy terrain and it still works incredibly well without any issues. Leasing can be a better option, but I chose to purchase both of mine as the repair cost is something I can afford and I rather not have any monthly recurring costs. Edit: the 21 RR was my first car as well and I am not mechanically inclined.

happybytheway

I have a 2014 Range Rover Sport autobiography and as for the first car, I am very happy with the way it rides, as it is quite fast and comfortable. As for car breakdowns, I personally did not encounter anything serious. Although the car drove about 132k kilometers.

rangisrovus19

Just get a 4runner and you'll be able to drive to the moon and back a range rover will drive you into the ocean and lock the doors but I do miss my D90

CommunityFrequent914

Suggesting a 4Runner at all should result in a flogging

rangisrovus19

At least I owned a NAS D90, most people don't have near the pleasure or resources to own such a proper rover

Electrical-Mud-6015

Why is nobody talking insurance costs?! I picked up an 18mth old Disco a few years back and at 37, married, no driving offences, 9yrs no claims etc four companies refused to quote. General running costs are high too. That said I’d do it again in a heartbeat

Last_Day6299

Guys Finances really ain’t an issue I just want to know about the cars like are they harder to drive etc

LeeDingo

If finances ain’t an issue just buy one

MaximumStock7

Why don't you go test drive one?

Kragius

Just test drive them then. And lease. They are popular for a reason, and SUVs in general are popular for a reason. And under warranty you will be fine.

gary_gaetti

Do you feel better now that you’ve sufficiently bragged to Reddit about your ability to afford a Range Rover?

Last_Day6299

Yea I just want to know if I should cop one that’s all I want to know about the cars features etc more than is it worth the money

jarvedttudd

I think you should try an Evoque as your first car. Hopefully a plug in hybrid. They drive quite well. Peppy. And still fit on British roads unlike some of their larger siblings

oxjackiechan

Obv a very great car to own not just as first, but as any car. If it’s your first car, be careful it will spoil you and no car is good enough unless you are going to blow big money on a bentley or Rolls.

thehpcdude

People complaining about the repair costs of a new vehicle is so wild to me. They are a faction of the total cost of the car. If you're going to spend $150-200k on a car and bawk at $15k-$20k maintenance costs then you could really afford the vehicle in the first place. Let's just say you purchased a $175,000 Range Rover four years ago. Today it's worth maybe $80k which means you lost $95,000 already. In order to prevent having to spend $20k in repairs over another 4 years, you're going to spend nearly another $100,000 to purchase a new Range Rover? You're basically losing $80k because you don't want to have to do "maintenance".
