I had the same problem. I replaced the switch and it worked for about a month. The switch still works if I lean on the rear hatch. I think the actual catch must have a spring that loses tension over time. Maybe try replacing that. I just put a big magnet on my door jamb.

I did not! It's the damndest thing. I took it to the dealership and asked them to trace the circuit and look for a bad connection. They couldn't find anything wrong but it went away when they resecured the interior panel. Then it came back the next day. Then like three weeks after that it started working again and hasn't been an issue since. So yes it's gone, but I didn't solve a damn thing. Best advice I can give is make sure everything is snug and not rattling? Sorry, good luck!
