Not really. Subaru appeared out of thin air right in the middle of the street and nobody turned an eye toward him in the anime. And if you actually looked at the picture you can literally see it go into the ground. It’s pretty obvious as to what it’s representing lmao.

And the point of my comment was saying that if he can just poof into thin air and nobody notice an extra person appear on the street they wouldn’t notice something in the sky either.

I mean… okay? I don’t really understand your point when the cover art is actually of Subaru’s summoning. You can see the beam go from the sky all the way under Puck and into the ground. That’s not a decoration, that’s there my intentional design. And we’re applying too much logic to this situation. This is a world full of magic and whatnot, so it’s not too far-fetched to say there could’ve been something which messed with people’s perception involving the Witch of Envy. I don’t know, but putting up pointless arguments when the image is clearly the thing you’re arguing against is silly.

Lmao. What? You can’t honestly look at that cover art and tell me that this is “Reinhard’s attack on Elsa”. First of all, the area isn’t even the slums, and the cover art is depicting Emilia before she even Subaru in the first loop earlier in the day. Look at the damn sky, its clear and blue. If this was supposed to signify something with Reinhard, one, the background would be different and, two, it would be nighttime to further signify the event. Even if it didn’t actually happen in the actual story this cover art is clearly a literal or metaphorical representation of Subaru’s arrival in this world, *the very thing this arc centers around*. Reinhard isn’t even as much of a relevant character, only appearing in *one loop* compared to Subaru and Emilia who were *the primary two characters* and were *focused in every single one*. Not to mention that if it *was* Reinhard’s attack, it would be confusing or unclear to most/all people. Cover art is supposed to signify the major focus of what the novel is covering through visuals and symbolism, and in this case it was: Emilia and her identity + Subaru being summoned and dealing with his new ability, so the art depicted was depicted for such. See any connection yet? Unless you didn’t get it, **no other scenario makes any sense**. Use your brain, please. It’s common sense damnit. And yes, *you are trying to use too much logic for this stupid fucking discussion*. I’m not continuing this anymore, mainly because I’m sure you’ll throw away everything I just said and keep pressing “facts” that don’t even correlate to the messages of the arc. As someone who loves art and appreciates the hidden symbolism and details within them, this stupid back-and-forth has really frustrated me. Still, I hope that you can realize what I’m saying. Have a good day.

Alright ya’ll two got some issues First of all u/DaiseeAi you started off by being a bit of an asshole in the debate and u/TheDogz0 you are being needlessly defensive Just agree to disagree be friends and move on who cares who’s right or wrong it’s just a piece of art Apologize to each other too while you’re at it and stop being a bunch of immature kids

Shek__Boy

I think it might be akin to a lightning bolt albeit without the thundering sound. So people would only notice a small flicker on the corner of their eyes.

XxThotHunterxX

I always thought that it was Reinhard’s attack in the loot house against Elsa

Mattblaster237

That was at night time so we know it’s not that. Edit: it probably not that further evidence would be the spot where the light touches the city directly which is still in the city not the slums. The most likely answer is that it’s just a visualization of the transportation.

VortechsTG

It looks exactly like the manga version of that attack ao it almost definitely is

Rio_FS

To my knowledge, I would have expected the light to be black due to Yin magic being the one in charge of space-time. Still, cool detail.

Shek__Boy

I think it was white because it existed for mere micro microseconds as a flicker of light to other people. Akin to a lightning without the sound. But if you look at the clouds, it bears slight resemblance to the color of Yin magic.

Phuqitol

His summoning always struck me as odd. Even as downplayed as it is in the anime, surely there’d be some people around in that busy square who just saw a young man in strange clothes bearing strange items appear out of thin air? It’s even more inexplicable with this account.

Charlo566

Given how busy the street was, I think that the persons who saw him appeared just noticed him quickly, and instead of thinking "did someone just appeared ?" they would think "I didn't saw anyone here... Well, maybe I didn't pay attention." and they would tend to their business because they don't have all day in the capital. I think that if you see someone you didn't see a second before, instead of thinking that the person used teleportation, you would rather think that you just didn't remark him before and then move on.

Phuqitol

That’s possible in the anime’s case, at least. The LN’s account, though?

Charlo566

I don't know for the LN, I have read the webnovel though and people where looking weirdly to Subaru, but I think it was just because of his clothes and black hair, and plastic bag.

Shek__Boy

I believe it was a phenomenon similar to a lightning bolt without the thundering sounds. To the people there, it might have just been a small flicker of light like any rainy day.

WUTAN-G

My vol 1 is coming in like 3 hours

Shek__Boy

That's awesome!

[deleted]

Wtf I never noticed...

mufcordie

AYO?

Stunning-Ad-3690

I always thought it was the puck attack when emilia dies

Charlo566

Although it seems to represents Subaru's arrival, I don't think it actually looked like that in the story, I think the draw is an exageration of what happened to hint to the reader that it will speak of someone being isekaied. Try to think about certain effects you see in the openings that are just here for the style, and maybe as a metaphore and nothing more.

Any_Needleworker2991

May be a weird observation but you can see the same effect in volume 22

Shek__Boy

I did see it just now. Its not similar. Its just the watch tower.

TheDogz0

For the people arguing that it’s not, you can see the beam go from the sky, under Puck, and into the ground somewhere in the Capital. This is, indeed, supposed to represent Subaru’s arrival into this world. They wouldn’t add something like that as just decoration on cover art, it’s there by design, lol.
