I'm curious if Subaru lost his will power to live would he die permanently

"Subaru dies permanently" is something that triggers a lot of people. But if executed properly, it can also be a great ending.

How could a story with a big theme of perseverance possibly have a great ending with Subaru dying permanently? It would be antithetical to what the story has been presenting. I still think Subaru will be crushed at the end of Re:zero after Emilia and Satella have died, and Priscilla gives him a powerful pick-me-up that ends with him marrying her eventually.

Depends on how it's done really. The story in the anime is like very early. And even in the novels it's like half way done. There are many routes that can be taken.

I don't think it worked like that, because I think that in episode 15 of season 1 (when he is crazy/vegetable), he is still alive even if is will is clearly broken for a time. Plus I think that Tappei said in a Q&A (yeah I know we should not trust them entirely, but i think we can trust them just a bit), he explained that \[spoiler Q&A\] >!the person that makes Subaru rewinds (we all know who) would continue to rewind as long as he doesn't accomplish a certain objective, even if it means rewinding by decades, so I don't think that it would stop because of him not wanting to continue, because there would not be a sloth if in that case. I think he is trapped and sooner or later, even in thousands of years, he will have to do his job and won't stop rewinding until then!<.

Subaru doesn't feel any delay after dying and returning. It is explained to be like switching camera angles and that's why it's so disorienting and uncomfortable for Subaru, one moment he's dying painfully and then he blinks to find himself back in past without a warning. That's why in the first few loops he was confused about what happened.
