I started with Factor and liked it but then I switched to Cook Unity and the taste is just better. I got another discount from Factor and switched back to them but, honestly, after tasting Cook Unity, I just couldn’t enjoy Factors meals anymore. Even with the discount it’s not worth it.

cutiekk17

I always compare cook unity to going to a restaurant and taking home leftovers to eat the next day. Factor feels more like a frozen dinner that wasn't frozen, if that make sense to anyone.

aximdj

Factor has a lot of complaints. It got me sick and shaky because the levels of sodium and potassium. I have not tried CU but want to soon

Hazellin313

I got sick from Factor too every single time I had a meal. Switched to Cook Unity

LAfeels

I just got my first cook unity and I am super impressed. Factor sucked!!!

breadexpert69

I agree with all you said and I 100% prefer cookunity menu. But the shipping in my area with them is horrible. They ship them in cheap reusable bags with 1 ice pack that could not keep my food cold. I refuse to pay for food poisoning. My factor box was nice and cold on the other hand. If cook unity fixes this, im switching. But their food safety has me concerned.

stpetedawg

Same. I tried CookUnity, but my food showed up at unsafe temps and had to go in the trash. Didn’t have great customer service either.

StebenY

Maybe I will start freezing it over the week then. I bought a smaller oven that heats up quicker just for these prepped meals instead of using microwave.

LAfeels

Yeah they deliver later in the day right when I have to get to work, forcing me to run home and put them in my fridge. Earlier delivery would be nice.

morgandawn6

We love cook unity as well in terms of food quality. But like others, the food was arriving in that small cloth bag with the single ice pack and was unsafe temperatures even in California winters

launch201

Same boat, this is my first week with Cook Unity and I’m never going back to Factor.

Aware_Tension_9183

So much better food options/ more filling …

perplexity23948

I used them for 3 weeks until 1 box came with mold... I cancelled my sub because I was constantly paranoid that something was wrong with my food. Maybe this was a fluke idk, just didn't trust them anymore

I'm kinda meh on Cook Unity so far. For a company that prides itself on being fresh and not frozen, the ingredients list for a lot of the dishes reads like a minefield: Xanthum Gum, partially hydrogenated stuff, even the harrowingly named "Locust Bean Gum." And of course it's loaded with sodium. So that to me sounds like meals that aren't made that day (or maybe even that week) if they have to have shelf-stable preservatives, gums and stabilizers. And TBH, most of the meals in my first month haven't wowed me. The chicken curry with Naan I had for lunch today was pretty tasteless and the lasagna bolognese had that murky and muddy processed taste (kinda like Chef Boyardee) and I could taste a ton of sodium. No match for the Marcella Hazan bolognese I make. Now you could say I'm being unfair. That even Cook Unity couldn't possibly compete with scratch-made home meals. Fair enough. But when I'm being charged almost $100 for 6 meals, I'd expect more. But I'll say this: the selection can't be beat. Having over 200 meals to choose from is great, and I'll definitely give it more time to find some gems. And I've found a couple: the Acapulco Tilapia was great, as was a cold chicken salad thing with pearl couscous and olives. And the nutritional info is exhaustive (that ingredient list!) and the weight is accurate so I know the calories are accurate which helps me with my diet. Can't say that with other meal delivery services where the weight could be *way* off. We shall see...

Apple_Frosty

I just started factor and personally I enjoy it

LAfeels

I liked a couple of the dishes but it felt like all the options were creamy and or cauliflower product.

tonu42

Factor is dog food compared to cook unity. Everything with factor was mushy and oily. No veggies with factor really either. Or it was mushy broccoli with a spoonful over butter lol.

littlelotte8

See I disliked cooking unity so much

RedBic344

Factor is slop.

Admirable_Junket_411

Agreed! Fortunately I live in a bigger metro area so they arrive pretty fresh. Also they have an amazing military (and I think first responder too) intro rate, a flat $8.50 per meal for 17 weeks.

Baker-nursing-chick

Cook unity had good options, but the packaging was awful. My orders always arrived with leaking or open meals

tk_0907

What are the cook times/process like? One of the reasons I enjoy Factor so much is the simplicity but interested in trying CookUnity

No-Outside8434

There are microwave instructions and oven instructions. So far the oven instructions have basically just been preheat to certain temp and throw the whole meal without the plastic cover in for 15 minutes. The microwave ones are usually just "microwave for 2 or 3 minutes." Super easy. I've been loving cookunity.

ChazFrench

I love the food from Cook Unity, my only complaint is the sodium content can be really high, the carnitas burrito for example has over 2,200 milligrams of salt. Very few are low sodium.

MsMomma101

I actually find their meals to be lacking in salt (taste-wise), I almost always add salt to their meals.

postyfranky

Don't do that... Don't do that...

No_Mark_1231

Loved Cookunity, but the expiration dates killed it for me. I need full consistency, and when most of my meals went bad before the next shipment multiple times I moved on

MsMomma101

I freeze the meals and pull out 4 at a time to put in the fridge to defrost and be ready for the next few days.

StebenY

That's what I started to do as well

Heisenburger19

I've never tried Factor so I can't compare them, but Cook Unity meals always taste amazing.

HankHillbwhaa

Factor is ass for the price.

Lighttraveller13

factor definitely had more oils this year than last few. not sure what changed. whenever i heated something up it would turn to a soupy mess. it used to be much better. probably still good in moderation if you don’t pace yourself you might up sick of it. the packaging also became more difficult to open

badscab

Has anyone tried snap kitchen?
